I made a gift of this book to a hebrew family, and they decided
to frame most of the sheets and hung it on a home walls. That
explains well how magnificient and emotive is to whom loves
tradition.

What I want to say is that my own findings, that the crop circles are made by spiritually inspired humans, coincide strongly with Dr. Hein's -- and indeed that his ideas have greatly extended my own thinking.
The fact is that what is flattening the crops is NOT where the mystery lies. There are SO many other unanswered questions, from the balls of light that have been seen by hundreds of people in the vicinity of crop circles (and close up by people making crop circles!), to what I call the "telepathic connection," as well as many other bewildering things which are covered in Opening Minds.
I recommend the book as by far the most realistic AND enlightening on the subject of the circles I have ever seen. Dr. Hein's discussion of UFOs and remote viewing, etc., are equally insightful.

I give it 5 stars and wait for more titles by Mr. Newcomb.
According to Newcomb, with this connection a person is in touch with his or her own unique creative intelligence and divine knowledge. So few of us are even aware of our own divine genius. Mr. Newcomb feels that genius is the prerogative of all human beings and this book offers several approaches to making the connection with one's own divine genius within the context of Abramelin's system.
Newcomb's hip, non-denominational interpretation of Abramelin, yoga, magick and spirituality in general requires only an openness to creating a deeper connection and relationship with the universe and a yearning for a greater understanding of the mysteries of life. If you've ever wanted to obtain enlightenment, but aren't interested in wearing saffron robes and giving away flowers at the airport, this might be the book for you. Newcomb describes himself as a skeptical and pragmatic mystic. In the book he explains that everything from overeating to drug abuse are all misplaced yearnings for the connection with higher consciousness called, "The Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel."
Newcomb calls upon diverse sources to elucidate his modern mystical hypotheses. In this book you'll find quotes from many places such as "The Spiritual guide" of Christian mystic Miguel de Molinos to ubiquitous quotes from the Victorian drug mystic Aleister Crowley. Newcomb offers exercises and ideas from all of these sources to create a very thorough plan for spiritual awakening. The book is very readable and should be interesting to anyone from the curious to the deeply immersed in the Western Mysteries.

The section on Disease Prevention includes information on longevity, exercises, diet, Weight control, smoking, alcohol, and screening tests. It carefully discusses each of these items and their importance to keeping healthy.
The section on the Body Atlas is exactly what you would expect from the name. It is thoroughly illustrated and covers all major organs and structures of the body including the skeletal system, eyes, ears, endocrine system, digestive system, and others. The only one that I found lacking was the part on the muscular system. With a frontal view of the muscular system it clearly shows how they relate to each other, however, there was no illustration of the muscular system of the back. Since back problems are fairly common as we age I would have like to have seen a view of the back muscles in addition to the frontal. All the illustrations provided are detailed, in full color and well designed.
The Medical Disorders division is by far the most extensive section. It covers all the expected items such as arthritis, breast cancer, chronic pain, coronary disease, and emphysema. But it also includes some unexpected topics such as bipolar disorder, sleeping problems, and even wrinkles. Each disorder typically include information on causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, side effects, involved structures, current research, and alternative therapies. It is easy to look through a particular disorder and come away with sufficient knowledge to intelligently discuss the condition with your physician. Knowing what questions to ask and the purpose of a suggested treatment regimen is a critical step in taking control and responsibility for your own health. This book provides you with that knowledge.
A very highly recommended book, it is extensive in its coverage, filled with excellent illustrations that clearly demonstrate the accompanying text, contains a medical glossary, and a thorough listing of support groups and organizations for various disorders. With over a hundred specific ailments common in people over 50 this is an important reference text for any home.

I just finished reading this book, and I'm tempted to pick it up and start all over again. This is one that I'll reread often.
The layout of the book is interesting and eye-catching, but the tints used on the pages sometimes make the text difficult to read. Make sure you sit down with this book in a very well-lit room -- not only will light make it that much easier to read, you'll be able to enjoy the wonderful pictures more easily.
There are several color pictures (259 illustrations) that point out items of interest, many more with maps and history (157 plates in full color). There is an expansive preface, forward, introduction, and prologue. There are twelve chapters that carry you on a historical tour of the castle.
I am not going to go through the book, as that is why you are purchasing the book and not the review. However on a personal note after looking at the book I went to the castle. I stayed overnight on the San Simeon coast to complete the tours in two days. As with all pictures the pale compared the real thing. However you now can use the book for memories. I did bring a camera. However you are not allowed to use a flash. And I have to admit that Victoria Garagliano is a better photographer. I think the cover shows the most impressive part of the castle. The Roman pool is located inside and under the tennis court. Just like the picture it is cool quiet and reflective. I did want to jump in just for the fun of it.
Now I leave the book on the coffee table so some unsuspecting person (and they are rare) will ask me about it.
