My children's absolute favorite
Though I have always enjoyed Carl Sandburg's poetry, I had never encountered this book until my son discovered it at the library on his first library visit. We took it home, read it every night for 2 weeks and he didn't want to take it back. The day we returned it, we went to the book store and got our own copy. When my daughter came along, I ordered a copy from Amazon, as she also fell in love with the story. The Wedding Procession is a lovely go-to-sleep book, telling the story of the sweet Rag Doll who was loved by all, but who chose to marry the Broom Handle. We each have our favorite group from the procession. My son loves the musical soup eaters, my daughter adores the easy ticklers. And my favorites, after the clean ears, are of course the sleepyheads. Children will want you to read this to them nearly every night. And parents and caregivers will oblige happily because it is a quite, lovely, charming story that will march your children right along to bed in the Wedding Procession of the Rag Doll and the Broom Handle.

such happy memories
This was truly my favorite book as a child. I was surprised to find it available. Many happy hours were spent on my mother's
lap reading and looking at the unique pictures. I hope my Johnnie
loves it also!

Probably my favorite children's book
I don't even have kids and I'm ordering this book just to have around the house. Though I haven't read it in probably 25 years, I can still recite whole passages from it. I only wish it were still available in hardcover.

My favorite children's book
This is a wonderful book for a little girl about a girl and her doll and I can only say good things about the story and pictures. I even went to lengths to find a copy as an adult because it meant so much to me as a child. Its easy to read and simple and yet teaches of friendship and childhood toys.

Universal Appeal
My children loved all the stories, while my own favorite is clearly the first one, "Mitzi Takes a Taxi". The stories are well structured, leading to conclusions that are logical yet surprising.
We are American expats, assigned to Tokyo for a few years. Because of the vocabulary, structure and enjoyable stories, this book is also well-liked by Japanese moms that want to read books in English to their children.

Tell Me a Mitzi
I read this book to both my children when they were little, then to my grandson, and send it as a gift to the older child of the family when a younger child is born. I love this book as did my children and grandson. In fact I have to order a new one, I have kept the first book I read to my daughter, who is not 27 and the mother of my grandchild. The book is fun to read and the pictures are interesting and fun as well.

It Brings Me Back!
I recently came across Tell Me A Mitzi in a story book called You Read to me & I'll Read to You. Looking at the illustrations brought me back to my childhood! It was an amazing feeling, I had forgotten all about Mitzi's "trip" in a taxi. I loved Tell Me A Mitzi as a young girl and I love it now as a mom of 3 girls.

Too scary for children
I bought this version of the popular fairy tale as a gift for my niece. After I received it, I was horrified to read in detail about how the huntsman cut open the wolf's stomach to look for the grandmother. It then goes on to read, ". . . after a few more slashes a little girl jumped out.." This was not at all what I had envisioned as a gift for a young girl. I wish I had been warned to buy the story from a different author.

little red riding hood
this book was very scary and ummmm... i-i didn't like it, it scared me!

Another graet classic
The illustrations in this book are very similar to those of Jan Brett but darker tones used. There is always something hidden w/in the pictures for children to look for and the illustrations help enhance the tale.

I also recommend Lon Po Po.
