Beth's Story
Beth's Story is about a young girl named Beth March. When Beth and her sisters find out that there Marmee and Father are going to New York for business, but when the four March sisters find out that one of them can go to New York, Amy is the youngest and says that she sould go, for she will not get to go to New York as Marmee said, she would like to go now. But then the troble starts, Jo says that Beth sould go and so does Meg, Amy was not so willing to let Beth have her vote, but Beth went to New York and there she meat Mr. Lincoln, they had a very nice little chat, and when Beth got home and back to school, she was asked to tell the class about her vist to New York. She let her meeting with Mr. Lincoln slip, and so Amy was left out of everything. The whole class did not belive the simple old Beth March had met Mr. Lincoln. The next night and for the whole week Amy would not talk to Beth. I will not give away the ending so I must stop here. This is a very good book, and I hope you will read it.

A Great and Understandable Story
This book is simply wonderful and the best story in the "Portraits of Little Women" series. I couldn't put this book down and read it in four hours! Beth's Story is very well written and filled with emotion and fun. I could understand and relate to it because once I was in a situation like Beth's. A must read!

Neat new series
This is a cool new series about the Little Women when they are 10 years old. This one is about Beth and her trip to New York City where she meets Abraham Lincoln. The other books were cool, too. I can't wait for the new ones, MEG MAKES A FRIEND and BETH MAKES A FRIEND.

My Favorite Book!!!!!!!

A special Portraits of Little Women book for the holidays.
This special holiday Portraits of Little Women book features four stories, each one about a different March sister's Christmas dream. Meg wants to buy her father a special gift, but she has no way to afford it. Jo must learn the true spirit of Christmas. Beth, who believes her family does not appreciate her, realizes just how much she means to them. And Amy, who is always wants presents, surprises everyone when she gives a gift to a poor, starving little girl on Christmas day. At the center of these stories is a family heirloom, an old cameo brooch, that teaches each girl the lessons she must learn about the holidays. I highly reccomend this book, especially if you liked previous Portraits of Little Women books.

A good book
Amy March loves to draw. She wants to become a world famous painter. But she believes there is one problem. The March family is too poor to pay for art lesons for Amy. Amy's sister Meg tells her that her friend Annabell is given art lesons, and that Amy might be able to join in. Annabells little sister Jenny is in the same class as Amy. Amy decides she has to befriend snoby Jenny to get art lesons, but it is hopeless.

When rich Diana Hughes comes to Concord, Amy befriends her, thinking she can get art lesons with Diana. Jenny and Jenny's best friend Susie try to befriend Diana too. But Amy soon finds out that friendship is worth more than art lesons.

Another good Portraits of Little Women.
Amy March loves to draw. She wants to become a famous painter someday. She believes she has the talent, and all she needs are professional art lessons. One of Amy's snobby classmates gets private art lessons, and Amy's dearest wish is that Jenny will invite her to them. And Jenny does invite Amy - on the condition that Amy betray a friend's carefully guarded secret. Will Amy prove herself worthy of her true friend's trust?

This book rocked!!!!
I loved this book!!If you've seen the movie little women or read the book, this is a MUST!!. Susan Beth Pfeffer must have read and watched little women this relates to there life so much! My favorite was beths when she didnt want her birthday celebrated. It related to the book because she is shy and hated when they (her sisters) marched in with presents and gave her a kiss. If you have read this or are thinking about reading this and havent read little women or watched the movie you should. I can say that you will absoultly LOVE this book.

Portraits of Little Women - Birthday Wishes
This is a wonderful Portraits of Little Women book. It has a tenth birthday story for each girl. Meg's wish is to be alone with her parents, but is that really her birthday wish after all? Jo's wish is to become the perfect proper young lady, for her family. Beth's wish is for everyone to act as if it is any other day, but Amy wishes for Beth to have a party. Amy's wish is to have a party and invite some of her friends from school, but when Father has to have a meeting about the war does Amy still have her party? This is a great addition to any book collection or any person who likes Little Women.

Dorrie & The Amazing Magic Elixer enthralls 3-year old!
Loveable, imperfect Dorrie returns, with her distracted working single mother, the Big Witch. This time, it's up to Dorrie to save the Amazing Magic Elixer when her mother has to leave the house for a few minutes. My three year old loves the Dorrie books. Interspersed with plenty of big words, there are lots of familiar words and phrases so he can "help" read. "This is Dorrie. She is a witch . . ." and "Down, down down the stairs went Dorrie, and Gink went with her."

The Big Witch has a career, gets distracted, has headaches, forgets things, and is cross. Working moms like me don't feel like we are competing with the perfect moms in other kids books (I love Marc Brown and his books, but doesn't Arthur's mom ever get headaches???)

Good book, but not scary at all.
I can't imagine that very many people would find the four stories in this book particuarly scary. The cover art makes the book look far more terrifying than it is (although I did like the picture). But it's still a good book. Each story is about one of the four sisters from Little Women. In each story, the girl is ten, and she encounters a ghost or spirit. I enjoyed the story with Beth the most, but the Meg and Jo ones were very good as well. Amy's was somewhat dissapointing, because I didn't really understand the end of it. I still give the collection four stars, because I really enjoyed the other three. If you enjoyed the other books in this series, you will most likely enjoy this one as well.

What an awesome book!
Cathy is a wannabe... She wants to be cool, popular, beautiful, and liked by everyone. Is that possible? If only Jessica would be Cathy's best friend, Cathy's life would be perfect. Right? What if it means losing her oldest friends and changing who she is? This is a fun, easy-to-read book that never preaches but somehow gets its message across.

OUCH! Friendship hurts...
More than anything, Cathy wants to be best friends with sophisticated, worldly Jessica. She will change all her interests and hurt those who care about her for Jessica. But why isn't Jessica impressed and as eager to be friends with Cathy? Is the gamble worth it and is Jessica as wonderful as she seems? A great story about the pains and insecurities of adolescent friendships

Turning Thirteen
The author of Turning Thirteen is Susan Beth Pfeffer. It is about a Jewish girl name Becky who gets in trouble for not knowing her 50 States and capitals. It is also about Becky who has a bestfriend name Dina, they have been bestfriend since before they were born.Their mothers took matenity classes together. Becky is getting jealous because Dina is spending time with a new girl in class name Amy Ford. Amy is not a jewish, she is Becky's complete opposite,Amy is super polite, super conscientious and now super friends with Dina. This book is a very good book to read,it also tells how Becky had to make adult choices. Kids who are turing 13 or are 13 could relate to this book. I would recommend this book for any young reader who is ready to challenge child hood assumptions for the first time or who already has.

Great Book!!
Every time I finished a chapter of this book, I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Even though this book wasn't the most exciting book I've ever read, it still made me want to keep reading. Turning Thirteen is about a girl of the age of thirteen who was Jewish. Her best friend was drifting away from her so she got the idea of sharing a Bat Mitzvah with her. But soon after, the girl realized that she was an athiest. You'll never want to put the book down after reading the first chapter.I recomend that you read it.

Great book!
This book tells the story of withdrawn, emotionally-disturbed,Abby, a sixteen year old girl in an abusive family. Pfeffer uses journal entries, transcripts and letters to tell Abby's story and although the theme is intense, an off-beat sense of humour pervades the book. I would highly recommend this book to any teenager who feels unloved and unappreciated by his/her family.

A kid's guide to ecconomics
Janie and her sister both want new bikes. But they need to pay for 1/2 (one half) of them. So, Janie, (who spends all her money on comics and chewing gum) forms KID POWER, an organazation made up of one and only one member--herself--that does odd jobs for $1 (one dollar) an hour. Includes lots of facts and terms relating to ecconomics and the money program of the United States. (Reccomended, but a little too unreal.)

Required School Reading
My daughter was given this book as a 4th grade reading requirement. She really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. She asked about Gross and Net and it spun me around. I was pleased that she found it exciting. I hope it gets her in the mindset of saving and being more open in life with the same go-get-it personality as the main character. But even if not, my daughter is learning a lot and most of all, she's enjoying it.
This book is a must have for all young girls striving for more than average.

Econ 101
Kid Power is a wonderful book to use to teach the basics of economics to 3-5 graders. The story is very engaging and the way the economics vocabulary is woven throughout the story makes this a great tool for upper elementary teachers. The family interactions ring true and the friendship problems are great discussion springboards. Let's petition to reprint this book! Our schools need it!!
