As a nursing student I am finding this book very comprehensive and easy to understand. Examples are helpful and the language is very clear and unintimidating. Very friendly. I will probably hang on to this one as a reference for a few years.

Potter and Perry have done an excellent job of describing and detailing the general information that a first year nursing student needs. Clear definitions,easy to read and understand tables and graphs,accurate and understandable diagrams and photos. This is a book that anyone can use no matter what your knowledge base is in the beginning.The study questions,key terms, and objectives are very helpful in studying and test preparation. This book also details steps for procedures in a clear and concise manner.With subjects from development to death covered, there really isn't a need for any other reference material.

A powerful story about one family's struggle with domestic abuse. How a single event, or words spoken can have a great impact for better or worse on one person, or the entire family. It also emphasizes the strength of the human spirit while living, and a possible glimpse of what may occur to the spirit after death. For those who are questioning whether they can change their lives for the better, this is the book for them. The story allows the readers to evaluate their own lives and face up to the negative energy that may surround them. Because, at the core of the story is magic and hope, and the potential to be all the great things that make us human.

The Haunting of the Owens Family depicts one year in the life of a typical
suburban family. In the mid-1970s, Meggie and Dan and their four children
enjoy all the comforts of middle-class life. They have the house, the yard,
the neighborhood full of children.

Grace plays the theme song of M*A*S*H on her flute. Annabelle has an
Etch-A-Sketch, Colorforms, and a Poster of Leif Garrett in her bedroom.
Danny in his bright red windbreaker does wheelies as he races his bike
through the neighborhood with his new pal Vinnie. Elizabeth dreams of
college. On the surface all is well.

But a secret under the surface is tearing the fabric of this family. Is it
just a "domestic," as the police contend, or is it something else?

In prose that is full of poetry and wisdom, the author tells the whole truth
of a family's struggle to be "normal." With courage, the author shares the
trials and repercussions of an "expected" marriage. She shows how the jagged
edges of words can hurt when dealing with anger, depression, and death. She
also reveals the true worth of friendship and the strength of family ties.

This is a beautifully written first novel, and I look forward to more from
this author.

The book is very clear and concise. It walks you through all the steps needed and explains well the rationale for each step. This is a book that I will use throughout my nursing career.

I have just started RN school and this is the main book we use. It is very informative,easy to understand,comprehend and has excellent examples. I think every nursing school should have this book as a requirement

This is the best book for nursing students who don't have time to practice for their exams, especially if you are newcomers in USA

I have just completed a course in Basic Nursing using Potter and Perry's Basic Nursing : Essentials for Practice and used the suggested study guide by Castaldi. I would inform you that we (our class) discovered errors on numerous occassions in the study guide text that need to be addressed/corrected by the author. These primarily pertained to answers for some of the practice questions. The instructors at our school contacted the publisher and were told that they were aware of the situation and attempted to help by posting the corrections on a website. However, this didn't happen before we completed the course. On a positive note I would say that aside from some frustrations I found the study guide to be quite helpful with my studies.

I had bought the book on line to save money, however waiting for one month and still having not received the book for school is definitely no worth saving 15 bucks.

This is a great text for learning the fundamentals of nursing practice. However the binding does not hold up for even 1 semester. i would reccommend that this be published in 2 books, or better yet in a 3-ring binder for durability & ease of use. Our school uses this book, but mine and 9 others of 25 have fallen apart within the first semester. we use it for 3 semesters. It is very frustrating to keep up with loose pages, so instead of a 5 I rate it a 2.

This is the textbook used in my first semester of nursing school. I read very little of it because I found the size intimidating, and the print was very small. It would take me several hours just to read one chapter. But the CD that came with the book has a tutorial on acids, bases and electroytes that I found extremely helpful. The Virtual Excursions workbook (purchased separately) was excellent. It was like getting extra clinical time. The study guide was good but it made the process of getting through each chapter even longer.
