I had to purchase this book when I was in college. I thought it odd when I picked it up. The book is a wonderful resource. I had Dr. Perrin as a professor and he is as down to earth and easy to understand as this book. Now that I am a teacher I use the book all the time. It is especially great when you need to find something quickly. This book is never too far out of my reach.

One of the finest, most comprehensive, and easiest-to-use guidebooks on the market, updated with concise direction in dealing with documentation of the newest forms of media. Helped me through four years of college, three years as a high school English teacher (where my students used it more than I did), and now as a manager with an internet company. Highly recommended!

A real gem on how Noel Perrin started sugaring from his own trees. He's revised the book over 20 years, so he's learned from his own mistakes and successes. He has some pithy commentary on Thoreau's costs of cabin making versus his own, as well. And did you know that milk (just a drop) will calm a roiling boil?

This is one of the best book I ever read before. Everything about the history of Ireland and especially Listowel, Co.Kerry, is in it. The writing is genuine Irish way of talking. I read it over and over again when I can.

The book was very hard for me to read and concentrate on. It takes a very in depth look at the social-historical context, cultural and religious environment, and interpretation of the New Testament. If you are conservative or liberal in your view of the Bible, Perrin will both upset you and satisfy you. He is somewhere in the middle. This book is definately not for the average person, but a real scholar interested in learing everything about the New Testament. While I didn't agree with everything said in the book, I did learn a great deal about 1st century life, which does help in understanding the New Testament.
