Stands out in the series
Somehow this addition stands out from the other annuals. I find more pleasure, inspiration and diversity in this collection of top quality Ad's. Beautifully printed - as usual - these books are part of our agency's library. The 99 edition by far is the one our staff (62 in total) is reading most frequently. Perfect overview of all main featues in advertisment; from cars to shoes, dotcoms to ties, from classic to innovative. No excuses if - as a designer - you do not have this book!

A gem of a book!
A friend called to say she'd just finished Laura Pedersen's novel, BEGINNER'S LUCK, and she urged me to buy it. She said that if I read just one book this winter it should be this one. Though I wondered how good a book narrated by a 16-year-old high school dropout who spends time at the track and works as a yard person for a zany family could be, I bought a copy. And I was hooked. I read it straight through on a Sunday afternoon. The characters' eccentric yet genuine behavior is unforgettable, and Hallie's story is one that anyone-at any age-will relate to. After I finished the book I missed Hallie in a very real way; I actually wished I could spend more time with her! I am now
totally envious of anyone who hasn't read this book yet because they have a wonderful, rare treat ahead of them.

Fun For All Ages
It's a delight to discover a wonderful new book -- with a nice story, fantastic characters and terrific humor. This is a gem of Americana showing daily life in this country, but how it can easily be made colorful, exciting, and interesting with the addition of a few crazy friends. The good news is that we almost all have a few eccentrics around, either friends, teachers, or Uncle Ed who sleeps with his fishing pole. However, the author combines all the elements like a perfect recipe for dinner, complete with dessert. If you're tired of all the bad news, read this book and regain your sense of humor, or just escape for a few hours. I haven't laughed so hard since Erma Bombeck and Florence King were writing. Especially when Olivia hits the ceramic deer and Bernard runs around shouting WWMD -- What Would Martha Do?
LOTS OF LAUGHS
I just finished Laura Pedersen's Beginner's Luck and found it to be hysterically funny. Ms. Pedersen seems to have a gift for finding humor in the most bizzare situations. Her characters are believeable and well developed. They all seem to share a very special humanity that binds them together in a most charming way. This book would make a teriffic movie because it has such a broad appeal. Anyone from 16 to 75 will enjoy it. The writing is clever, wicked and touching !! A great read !!

Funny but with a nice message
This book reads very fast and has lots of good laughs but it also takes a serious look at trying to balance your religion with your personal life. The main character has been raised Catholic and her mother converted from Protestantism when she married. It asks the big questions about how to know when you meet the right person and if there is such a thing. The main character is sarcastic but it's apparent that's only because she's scared and has to make some big life-changing decisions. It also looks at how we think kids have it easier today but in many ways it's tougher for them. There's a great sex scene near the end.
Fast and funny from TV show host
Was suprised that this is the same Laura Pedersen who hosts "Your Money and Your Life" on Oxygen. She is funny on the show but I thought she only wrote about personal finance for The New York Times and this is like a stand-up comedy book. I enjoyed it and think it would make a funny movie. My husband kept hearing me laugh out loud and wanted to know what was so funny and I had to read him parts and finally I said just read it yourself when I'm done.
A Fast Fun Read
I was surprised at all the humor packed into this small story. But in addition to the laughs there was a sweetness to the plot once all the threads were pulled together at the end (in a surprising way). The characters were quirky and interesting yet believable through and through. Moms and daughters will especially love it. I hope there are many more Pedersen novels to come. She is a really funny writer!
