Wonderful!
My super handed me WISHES FOR YOU as I was going to the subway.
While reading it on the subway, I did not start weeping until:
"I hope you will love one special person more than anyone or
anything in the whole world," and then I did not stop weeping
until long after I finished the book and got off the train at
Queensboro Plaza. The not-starting weeping until that late
in the book was a commendable sign of self-restraint, I think,
considering how moving, authentic, and wonderful WISHES FOR YOU is.

may they all come true
A lovely and inspiring children's book with gorgeous illustrations that all children will love. I bought two more for the children in my family. Highly recommended!

Add Wishes for You to your Wish List
Tobi Tobias has written a little gem, a picture book that is poetic but utterly straightforward. WISHES FOR YOU consists of a series of wishes for the future of a much loved young child.("I hope you will love to read. . . I hope you will love being alone sometimes.") Danish artist Henry Sorensen's accompanying illustrations feature lush colors and realistic renderings of approachable-looking children being wistful, playful or intent on a task. This book would make an excellent gift for a child under five.

Certified Classic
I was lucky enough to find this one when my littlest boy was only two. It's now served all three of my children with distinction.

Much-published Susan Pearson really nailed it with this 1979 title, which places her in the rarefied company of immortal children's authors like Margaret Wise Brown, Lois Lenski and VH Drummond.

At three chapters and 64 pages, this one is a really long story for toddlers, but one that they can enjoy until much older.

Writing with beautiful wit and rhythm, and boosted by the winsome bunny illustrations of Steven Kellogg, Pearson covers off many childhood fears and preoccupations, meanwhile leaving you with a raft of riffs and catchphrases that will find their way into many childhood conversations.

After numerous artful but failed attempts to distract her destructive little brothers (four) and little sisters (three), Molly memorably declares, "Ten rabbits living in one house is nine rabbits too many for me."

Striking out to her own bachelor pad just across the meadow, Molly gently acquires a lasting education about the true nature of honesty, compassion, friendship and family.

Treasured Childhood Favorite
Molly, responsible eldest sister of four brothers and three sisters, finds life at home intolerable (sister Mary takes her clocks apart, Kathryn borrows her shells and Max smells like dirty nappies).

Eventually Molly realises it is time to leave the nest, and with some assistance from her parents she packs her things and moves into a home of her own.

But sometimes even the best solutions to life's problems need to be worked on, and Molly embarks on a journey to adulthood that every rabbit must make in the end.

Great book about raising & releasing 5 Baby harbor seals
As one of the people this book features, I am proud to have been a part of the team that rescued and rehabilitated 5 harbor seals in the 1970's at the California Marine Mammal Center in Marin, California. One baby seal in particular, named "Pearson" was a determined premature "white coat" or preemie, who struggled to grow and learn how to survive in the wild. Our team of volunteers worked tiredlessly for months, night and day to guarrantee that these 5 seals would make it back into the wild. Their story of how they were rehabilitated and the magic it brought to each of our lives is told in this wonderful book. Look on the back cover for a picture of Pearson and me. With much pride, Margie Comstock - California Marine Mammal Center Volunteer from 1975 to 1979

enchanting illustrations and a gentle tale
Mother, son, and pet dog awake one February morning to find their house, yard, and the surrounding woods draped with thick fog. They decide to take an early morning walk in the woods, hoping to spy deer. Everything is covered in dew and is mystical looking. The watercolor illustrations are wonderful and unique. Along the way, they see many kinds of wildlife, but no deer. They are having fun despite not actually seeing any deer. After returning home for breakfast, two deer are seen peering into their house watching them!

The tone of the book is relaxing and calm. It is clear the mother and son love spending time together. Nature is seen as beautiful and to be respected. It is hard to describe, but this book is just different than any I have ever read. Something else I like about this book is that it celebrates the simple things in life; showing that a simple walk through the woods can be a fun adventure for mother and son to do together. Anyone who respects nature or appreciates the simple pleasures in life will love reading this book to their child.
