Thank You Jesus!
I was blessed to attend a class on Building Self Esteem which was taught by Sis. McFaddin in July 1998(Full Gospel Conference). I purchased this book following the class and three years later it is still a good resource tool. Psalm 139:14 " I am Fearfully and Wonderfully made" was birthed into my spirit through the teaching of this Woman of God. Sis. McFaddin may God continue to richly bless you and feed your spirit as you deliver what God gives you for his people.

This is a great book
I bought this book and started reading it immediately. I think this book does a valuable service. I thought just last week about killing myself. I even told someone about it. I just felt useles and hopeless. When I read the poem at the beginning, I knew this book was the message of hope that I have been (literally) praying for. I am thankful that I took the time to order it.

Are you dealing with insecurity?
Finally! This book is your much needed help if you feel insecure about how you were created. The author stresses that only 10% of your beauty is on the outside, the other 90% is on the inside... waiting to be discovered! God Made Me Beauty-full is your road map to confidence! Why do I know the author is telling the truth? Because she's my Mom! I grew up being taught this daily! The chapter, Perfect for God's Purpose, is based on her raising me! Read and be blessed!

Second Sight Takes On A New Meaning
Maggie and Jamie are the main characters in this christian love story. They have both lost somebody they loved dearly and never thought they could love again. Maggie's husband had been an organ donor and Jamie had been in an accident. They met when Maggie decided to get back into horseback riding. The author of Searching for Paul keeps your adrenalin flowing with the many surprising turn of events. This is one of those books that you have trouble putting down. I look forward to reading many more books from this author.

A wonderfully written romance novel of the first order
Searching For Paul is the lovely, heartwarming story of a young wife's attempt to deal with her beloved husband's death after only three years of marriage. A social worker, Maggie threads her way through her personal grief, insecurities and uncertainties as she strives to south though her wildly fluctuating feelings. In spite of warnings, common sense rarely comes into play even though she tries to focus on God's promises. Her love of horseback riding leads her to a horse farm and the complicated existence of Jamie McKellar. Maggie encounters unexpected twists and turns in her life after her first miserable meeting with the brusque and secretive man. Searching For Paul is a highly recommended, emotionally rewarding, wonderfully written romance novel of the first order.

Thank You!!!
I am the white partner an interracial relationship, and the mother of a beautiful biracial daughter. I came across this book years ago in my college library, and I loved it so much that I special ordered a copy of it through a local bookstore. I would just like to say thank you to the authors for writing it!

Thank you...

...for not stereotyping, analyzing, or otherwise trying to dissect interracial relationships.

...for letting the voices of the interracial families in the book shine through.

...for respectfully showing interracial families as normal, wonderful and beautiful!

...for the quote given by one of the people interviewed for the book - a white man married to a black woman took his son's pictures to a photo shop to be developed. When he returned to pick up the pictures, the white clerk at the store commented on how handsome the boy is, and told the boy's father: "Biracial children are the most beautiful children. They are God's way of showing the world that there shouldn't be bigotry". That quote made reading the book worthwhile!

Thank you indeed!

A book where opposites coexist.
An enchanting, and enchanted, one of a kind book. The setting -- Transylvania in and around World War I -- is part fantasy, but mostly fairly grim reality. One of the greatest achievements of this book is how it creates an atmosphere in which fairy tales and war realities feed off each other. Almost all the characters came vividly to life for me, especially Serene, the young heroine, who goes through a series of adventures reminiscent of those of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. A sterling addition to the field of magic realism

A compelling tale of a compelling time.
I was fortunate enough to receive a review copy of this story...fortunate, because this is without doubt one of the most endearing, enrapturing books I've read in a decade. This tale of young Serene goes far beyond the effects of WWI on a Jewish family in a small eastern European village. The upheavals of everyday life make war almost a distant thing -- until it enters the town itself. And it's all seen freshly, through the eyes of a young girl. Like all young children, Serene sees her world as a mixture of fantasy and reality. This metaphor of Old World crashing and fusing with New is crafted magically by the author. The narrator's imagery and portrayal of a culture rooted in this region of the world (which remains so poorly understood by our dominant American culture) should resonate strongly with ANY reader who hasn't forgotten how near the spirits of his immigrant ancestors really lurk. This is not just Serene's story. This is OUR story -- the story of every child uprooted from the Old World and thrust into the New. Like the buttery Papa melting away in the book's opening line, this magical tale will melt your heart for young Serene...and for your own immigrant ancestors who lived their facet of this story.

What a wonderful story! I couldn't stop reading!
This heartwarming tale of a young child caught in the throes of a family in crisis was the best thing I have read in a long time! I loved the viewpoint of Serene as she deals with the results of her Jewish family's struggle with heavy debt and then with their upheaval as World War I forces them from their home. In spite of her family's troubles, Serene's heart remains strong. This story is air-brushed with magic and mysticism, and I predict it will be some time before I find another I love as well.

One of the best stories of the series
I easily consider this one of the best stories that ran in the "Legend of the Dark Knight" series (this book reprints #11-15) up till now (this one and "Gothic"). Batman, the hunter, becomes the hunted when the major demands him arrested. Captain Gordon is to form a special squad to do so, which shall be master-planned by psycho-analist Dr. Hugo Strange. While Strange shall try to unravel the mystery 'who is Batman' by logical psychological deduction, a street squad will do the fieldwork. Only it turns out that Dr. Strange himself isn't very sane and that he plans to reach far more than just the arrest of Batman, using whatever means neccesary. Meanwhile Batman is having a hard time to keep himself thinking straight. Something that proves to be difficult during the schemes of the mad Dr. Strange.

This is really a well written Batman story that will especially appeal to those who like "The Killing Joke". The art looks a lot like the art of Brian Bolland and, even more importantly, the theme and atmosphere of the story are very much alike (the theme, not the plot). A dark psychological thriller. It's really good to see is that the things that happen during the story aren't just coincedences but happen for a reason, and are backed with arguments. A small example of that is that when Dr. Strange concludes that 'the man behind the mask must be a wealthy man' it's backed up with the argument "The man must be wealthy since he's up all night and therefore doesn't have time to work a job in the daytime, but still has so much expensive devises". Things don't come out of thin air, like what unfortunately seems to happen in too many other books. And like this little example, everything else that happens also fits and is made to look logical. What is also a good thing is that you don't know how it's exactly gonna end untill you're at the last couple of pages. Just when you think you figured Dr. Strange's next move out, the plot twists. It isn't predictable anywhere and therefore never becomes boring. If you're looking to pick up a good Batman story besides the ones who got a lot of attention already (like "Killing Joke", "Dark Knight Returns", "Long Halloween", "Year One" etc. etc.), this would certainly be a good choice.

Hot and intense
This book collects the Prey storyline that ran in Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight. A very tense Batman book which also depicts the first meeting between Batman and the twisted Dr. Hugo Strange. In this book, Bats makes a lot of mistakes and he has let Dr. Strange get to him. Also introduces the Bat Signal and the Batmobile. It's really good to see Batman as a human being who goofs up and get ticked off by someone else. One disappointment I have with this book is Catwoman. It's as if she's just there. She didn't really contribute anything to the story.
