Excellent photographs - they bring it all to life!
I thought that the pictures give all the information about these creatures a whole new meaning. I think photographs, especially the real thing makes it so much more interesting and intriguing to young children. Theory often is not as catching as the visual and sensory aspect of science and nature learning

Medicine Man
This book really makes you think about what we are doing to our tropical rainforests and why we need to do more to protect them. This book makes you feel like you are actually in the forest with the medicine man when you are reading it.

Excellent science resource for intermediate kids
The photographs are super and the explanations are scientific (elementary) but clear. Parts would be fine for class read aloud. Excellent plant project guidelines are also included, with detailed, step-by-step instructions.

Awesome learning!!
After a thorough research at the library and on the Internet, this find was the jewel hiding in the sand!. This is
a topic not many authors approach, especially when it comes to
explaning to children, in clear language, what molds are. Not
only does it offer detailed definitions and explanations, it also gives the child many ways in which he can experiment with
molds. The pictures are very good, too! We used it for a Science Project that will be exhibited at a Science Fair. Not only did my children learn lots, I did too!!

The Truth About the U.S influence Over Latin America
Elaine Pascoe does a great job explaining the intervention of the United States in Latin America. Pascoe explores and desribes the different steps the United States had to take in order to become the powerful country that it is now.You learn about different wars compromises and strategies that the U.S used on Latin America. Pascoe also describes many struggles that were confronted by Latin America and how they fought to maintain the land that each country obtains now.

I recommend this book to people who are interested and want to learn about the history of involvement of the United States in Latin America which has caused positive and negative reactions. This book is a journey that takes you all over Latin America and makes you aware of the problems that are taking over these countries.

South Africa: The Toubled land
South Africa is a beatiful breathtaking land that is filled with great wealth of minerals covered by green rolling grassland. Although, it is filled with wonderful sight and rich fortune, it is also a the theatre of war, between the whites and the blacks for many centuries. Problems like racial discrimanation forced the country to lose over millions of people, innocent or not, during the years of conflicts. It became a system where the strong rises while the weak goes down. It became the home of many couregeous men who fought, not for their own life but for others who wanted equality. The book South Africa, the troubled land, is a history of events of the country's past, written by Elaine Pascoe. It was good to read and was extremely a great contribution to the literature world.

A good, if spotty, history
This book is one of the First Facts About Series. This book is divided into six chapters, each containing six to ten sections on a specific subject. Each of these sections is laid out on two, facing pages, the first (left-hand) one contains a very large picture, whole the second (right-hand) page contains the text, plus two sidebars on a related topic. The finale of the book is a chronology of important dates in the history of the United States.

This attractive book is a colorful addition to any library. In a short work, it does cover American history in a comprehensive, if spotty, manner. While this is a good book for a young reader to peruse for an introduction to U.S. history, I do think that it is a bit too light on facts.

Animal Intelligence: Why Is This Dolphin Smiling (The New Explorers)
Published in School & Library Binding by Blackbirch Marketing (1998)

not too impressed
This is the book to the tv program "The new Explorers" about dolphins. I haven't seen the program on tv but the book is basicly aimed at children. Reading this book I get the impression someone who isn't good at writing anyways was trying to write simple so young readers would understand. Sometimes it is at the level for a 6 year old, other parts are written more complex that this age group wouldn't be able to fully understand. Many of the photos are stills from the video tape and hence the quality is poor. All in all the impression I have from this book is not too positive. To me it looks like a sloppy job to get some secondary sale from the TV program. I've seen better books for children about dolphins.
