excellent and a lot of fun
I have never been a science geek - I failed at college science classes. Just the picture alone on the cover of this book explained how to make a battery out of a lemon. For anyone wishing to learn more about electricty and how it works - this fun book of experiments includes colorful pictures that show exactly how to do it right. This book, and this Make It Work series is one of the best science books for kids on the market.

Great Resource
For the first time, my 4th grader had to do a research project and oral presentation on the Ute tribe. We found this book at our library and it was a wonderful source, not only for us but for other tribal groups. This book provides good visuals, followed by clear step-by-step instructions on how to make things such as native clothing, musical instruments, housing, and so on. It also gives a good amount of information on habitat, diet, religious life, tribal structure, etc. and compares various tribes, according to geographical area and lifestyle. This book inspired my daughter and her classmates to design a diorama which included a wickiup (typical Ute living space), teepee and willow house. We made dresses, tunics, and moccasins and painted them with traditional designs, using symbols from the book. We also made a drum, shaker, and spear, all with directions and pictures from this book. The presentation was fabulous. Their teacher liked this book so much we are donating a copy to the classroom.

Wonderful Native American Crafts
I purchased this book for my daughter when she was in fourth grade, as a resource for some fun activities to do over the summer. When she entered fifth grade, we found that the curriculum was heavily tied into Native Americans! "Yay!" we said. "We can use the Make it Work book!" We have already used the book to make four different class projects! The instructions are very clear and precise, and the projects were very "do-able" for a ten-year-old (with a little assistance from mom or dad.) The resulting "artifacts" are quite realistic looking, and perfect for class projects.

As a craft book, this is a terrific purchase. However, if you need a book on Native Americans for a research paper, this is not the book for you. There is some background information, but only a bare minimum.

Learn and have fun making indian crafts
I loved this book and its simple and general approach to native indians. It goes over the life and history of ther the different tribes as well as their diet, art, housing, sports and games, different languages, customs and traditions. It also answers questions about why they fought, who were their Gods and what they believed in. There are clear instructions to build a tepee, masks, mocasins, typical clothing, baskets, canooes and miniature villages. Very informative and entertaining. I do think however it is addressed at slightly older children (9-12)

Smart, funny and informative guide to the Male Member
This book contains so many facts, myths and historical details of the Male Member, that you will be fascinated, and also greatly amused. Alexandra Parsons presents the information with some of the smartest remarks I've ever read. She pokes fun at the Kama Sutra, gives us the history of condoms, and tells us the real scientific facts on size, and whether it matters, and how it varies. A veritable cornucopia of amazing phallic facts. And, of course, legends loom large, and are portrayed with tongue firmly in cheek (no pun intended). We are also treated to things we never knew, such as the size and shape of the penis of other members of the animal kingdom. You'd be amazed at what you will learn in this short but informative and entertaining book. And, you'll laugh so hard your sides will ache at some of the smart remarks from the author. I consider this book incredibly entertaining, and quite a feast for the curious, both male and female.

Facts and Phalluses Review
This is a good book that will make you laugh wonder and learn. Although i thought some of the things that were said in the book were ludicrous I thought overall it was well written and enjoyable. If you are looking for some interesting facts and myths on the penis this is the book for you.

A great little fact book
Ok, sure, maybe some of the entries may be myths, but that's fine. The book does good in covering everything from the weird/strange, to history, and a section devoted to animals. And while it may be short, it's full of interesting little tidbits that will make you and your friends go "Hmmmm...". I know I did, all in all a very interesting read.

Make it Work Review
This book was a craft book. It had almost no info. There were about 10 paragraphs of info in the entire book. I felt it was a waist of money because I needed the book for research not Halloween. I will keep the book because it dose have neat crafts. I thought I would use a lot of index cards(I put the info for research on them)while useing this book but I couldn't even fill up 2. It is a good craft book but not a good book for research. I hope this review helped.

It is a craft and educational book!
I really liked this book and it provided me with information I hadn't gotten anywhere else. The crafts are a good way for students to be active and learn. Education isn't just book reading. People need to learn to create with their head and their hands. This is a book that blends ancient civilizations with creative activities. Good work!

Excellent
This is a very good book. I had a project to do on Ancient Egypt. This book gave me all of the information that I needed!
