Despite all efforts which have been done by some "scientists" to hide this Bosnian treasure, today is well-known the right value of this oral tradition in the world thanks to great american scientists Milman Parry (1902-1935) and Albert Bates Lord (1912-1991) and their followers. According to these two scientists, Avdo Medjedovic from Bijelo Polje (died in 1953) is one of the greatest oral epic singers in the world. Actually, he is "the singer of the tales" as late Albert B. Lords said in his famous book with the same title. These two scientists did so much to promote one of the greatest values of the Bosnian culture-oral epic tradition. The Wedding of Smailagic Meho, which is probably the best example of that tradition, is one the longest epic songs in the world - even 12.310 verses! Therefore, I would like to suggest to all, which are interested in oral epic tradition, to begin with this great book.
