Excellent documentation
I happen to own the first edition of this book. Pat Parks covers the history of the 'Overseas Railroad' in great detail, telling the story of the many hardships of the people who worked (and died) to make Henry Flagler's dream become reality. Now, if only anyone today could have that kind of vision...

A great trip down memory lane...
This is a very well written history of a very small town in New Jersey. Since I grew up in Roselle Park, it was wonderful to see pictures of the town from long ago. I really enjoyed reading it!

Unfortunately, the above informtion is slightly incorrect. There were actually several authors who created this great book including Audrey Morgan and Barbara Sokol. This book was a huge undertaking (with the help of many people) which resulted in an interesting and thorough record of the town's history.

I highly recommend it to anyone who lives (or ever lived) in Roselle Park. Audrey Morgan, Barbara Sokol and the Pagnettis all did a wonderful job.

Great gift for anyone who's hiked The Mountain
Those of us who have hiked or climbed Mt. Rainier know that the beauty of the experience doesn't always come out in our photos. O'Hara has captured that beauty in over a hundred shots we all wish we had taken.

A Pleasant Rhyming Book for your Little Helper
This is a pleasant rhyming story about Bessey Brown, a little African-American girl attending her family reunion. Her relatives span three generations, and their faces are expressive as they go swimming, sailing, and horseback riding in the park.

Although their reunion is a success, Bessey points out that their playtime isn't over until they've cleaned up their mess. She organizes the family clean up, and she is praised for her leadership and initiative. These qualities are going to come in handy for Bessey, and you'll see why when you reach the end of the story.

This is a good book for the little helper who keeps your family on its toes. Your little one will enjoy the colorful illustrations and the simple story's rhyme and rhythm. I recommend this book for children between the ages of 2 and 8.

Subject matter is designed for a limited readership
The book "Guided with a Steady Hand" is recommended reading for those historians interested in the history of Mother Neff State Park, Texas. It provides input into the general role of the Civilian Conservation Corps in the "New Deal" era, but contains little relavent material for areas outside of Texas. This book makes for easy reading and is loaded with information about the Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept., and the daily life of one particular CCC camp. However, for those readers who have no interest in the history of state parks in Texas, this book is of little value.
