Getting to the point
This book(I prefer to call it a pamphlet)gave me the best overview on the subject and left out all the technical jargon. It was well organized, precise, and didn't pull any punches. Its problem-solution orientation proved useful and refreshing; instead of just blowing one off with a typical "It effects each person differently" approach, it discusses what commonalities the disease has. It has a useful self-help section and easy to read charts and diagrams. The concise, plain talking pamphlet gave me a clear picture with a sense of empowerment that comes with knowledge (and all within an hours reading!).

A forgotten side of Mr Greene
This book -- all 800 or so pages -- is a goldmine for Greene fans. It's chock full of reviews, essays, articles, and letters, and it shows Mr Greene at his wittiest. Some of the reviews are absolutely scathing, and his insight into the film business is enlightening. Buy it.

Wonderful History of Film!
There are lots of books out there on the history of film, however, there are those that hit the mark quite above others. The History of Film is one of those books. David Parkinsons comprehensive book on the history of film is not only a great introduction, but also acts as a great reference or study guide. One of Thames and Hudsons World of Art series, printed on heavy smooth stock paper with color and black and white photos, one is sure to appreciate the wuality of this book. Beginning at the dawn of cinema with primitive snap-shot like cameras, with the advent of film from glass or discs, into the 20's where cinema was changed forever. There, the greats are born: Eisenstein, Griffith, Pudovkin, Porter, Lang, and so many others who contributed, not only to the art of cinema, but to the science of cinema. Once this is established, theories of film rush in and a wide variety of culture is brought forth upon the world with different forms of narrative. From Jules and Jim to Seventh Seal to Olympia to 2001: A Space Odyssey to Taxi Driver; Bergman, Kubrick, Kurosawa, Capra, Scorsese, Hitchcock, Chaplin, Huston, and Fellini. Discussing critics points of view, filmmakers take on the how the films were made as well as the influences that they would have on society and the film world itself catapulting into the blockbuster film that we have today. Also bringing out how the studios were created and who were involved in the ownership. How they broke up and how Hollywood is run today. I totally enjoyed this book and found it was well written, informative in every way. The history was kept clear despite unavoidable overlapping in time. Highly reccomended to the film student!

Light Informative Reading
"Understanding Parkinson's Disease" is a well-written book introducing a patient to life as a Parkinson's patient. I purchased this book to pre-screen it for my parents and found that it was a good book to give them because of it's positive discussion about the disease. If you know a Parkinson's patient who refuses to read up about the disease (because they don't want to read about all the restrictions they will have to face in their future) this is a good "first" book. The "Self Help Guide" has a pro-active upbeat approach to working with the disease. It doesn't spend a lot of time belaboring how miserable the future will be, but focuses on how to deal with the present. Since Dr. Cram has Parkinson's Disease himself his viewpoints about the disease help give credibility and enlightenment to the reader. This book summarized all aspects of the disease while showing how to live with the symptoms. It is a good starter book for preparing to live with Parkinson's Disease. Purchase "Caring for the Parkinson patient" by Hutton for a more in-depth review of Parkinson's and how to live (or care for someone) with the disease.

Finally...A plain speaking book about Parkinson's Disease
Dr. David Cram has written a very touching and informative book about Parkinson's Disease that I encourage anyone who has been diagnosed with PD or who knows someone who has been diagnosed with PD to check out. Dr. Cram who was dianosed ten years ago with PD writes from personal knowledge and covers everything from symptoms to the newest drug therapies. I also enjoyed the comments interspersed throughout the book from patients, physicians, nurses, counselors and therapists. This is a very encouraging book and I recommend it highly!

Every student should read this book to apreciate freedom
This is an valuable book telling the story of a minor rebelion three years before the Texas war of independance in 1835-36. It tells the story of govermental abuse of a people who will not take it, let alone tolerate it. it tells of the horror of war and the debate it takes to start a revolution. It has mr Parkinsons biting humor and draws the reader into the story so that he wants to be the hero Matt. It teaches great lesons about honor. In places it will tear at your heart as people die who shouldn't and you'll laugh in the midst of tragity, just as if this story was happening to you

Overpriced Shovelware
Read the Microsoft documentation instead. This book is a thinly disguised rip-off of the Microsoft documentation padded with examples of dubious value. In 590 pages this book manages to add no value or information beyond the original documentation. That's quite an achievement.

If you like pain, ISAPI is for you
If you want to learn ISAPI...think again. This was "hot" 2 years ago...now it is all but dead.

ISAPI's big promise was better performance and memory usage...ironic that it has now fallen in favor to the biggest performance pig of all web applications...ASP. In an age of fast machines and small web apps, rapid development and ease of use wins out over performance.

ISAPI is hard to learn, harder to get right, unstable, bug ridden (if written in MFC) and surprisingly inflexible.

Look, you're a smart person. You want to do the right thing. You don't need to subject yourself to the torture of learning ISAPI. Only hard-core programmers who are tasked with writing a custom web app that is going to get some VERY heavy traffic should even bother with ISAPI.

So why did I give this book 4 stars? There are no good ISAPI books out there. This one has the most information in it and will allow you the best chance to actually develop something that works. Get this book and hit Genusa's (now dusty) ISAPI site. Also spend a lot of time in the Microsoft knowledge base...there are plenty of workarounds and bugs to learn about too.

Keep in mind that with ISAPI you had better be a damn good programmer. If your DLL ever crashes...bye bye web server. This is harder than you think if you are doing "serious" web programming which includes database access.

Smart managers will not allow mission-critical web apps to be developed in ISAPI by a web punk who has never done this before. Do everyone a favor and get a clue. There is a reason why nobody is doing this stuff anymore!

Game over. Go home and don't look back. Go off and learn ASP and Cold Fusion like a good little web programmer. You will have a marketable skill and will actually get things done.

Best of the available ISAPI books, has reasonable examples
ISAPI is Microsoft's approach to adding capabilities to web serving. There are only a few books that describe how to use ISAPI. This book is the best of them, because the author: 1) provides examples in both C and C++, and 2) compares ISAPI with CGI solutions. Unfortunately, ISAPI is a complicated subject, so more and shorter examples would help elucidate the reader.
