Quality story for early readers
The Bag I'm Taking to Grandma's is written at a kindergarten-second grade reading level. The first half of the book progresses in the soothing cadence of repeating rhymning lines, like in "The House That Jack Built". Pictures of the items being packed are included in the sentences (instead of the words for the item), which may take adults time to adjust to, but it makes reading easier for children. Preschoolers will love to hear this story as a read aloud and will love "reading" the picture clues with you. The second half of the story continues as mom clarifies what really needs to be packed for grandma's house. Any parent who has had a child pack too many toys and no clothes or toothbrush in an overnight bag will laugh at this delightful tale! This story is a quality story for early readers and their preschool siblings.

This book makes my 5 year-old laugh and laugh and laugh!
I know this book can be a great help in reading readiness, but we haven't really noticed that yet - we have had too much fun just reading it. The deadpan illustrations are also perfect.

a book for children of all ages
This story is about a young girl who is getting dressed in her moms cloths and how she has to change out of them to wear hers. Its a great book for young children who are learning to read and want a fun story that they can read over and over agian with there family. When i was helping my little cousin justice learn to read she would love to take this book and read it to everyone and show them that she could read. This book is the one if you are trying to get a child exited about reading.

The Book We Read Over and Over!
A very fun book that my daughter and I have enjoyed for more than a year. The book is a cumulative story about a girl dressing up in her mother's clothing for a party. Told in fun rhyme with great rhythm, my daughter and I try to read each page as quickly as we can without taking a breath until the last line on each page which reads "...I'll wear to the party." A thoroughly enjoyable little book.

Never Forgotten
Although I haven't read this book in 25 years, I remember it vividly and it was one of my favorites. I had hoped Amazon would have it. I'd say it's to pass on to my kids... but really I want to see it again!

The most influential book from my childhood
This is my favorite book from childhood. It teaches the value of helping others, using and sharing your talents and is a beautiful love story as well. I am heartbroken that it is out of print. It is truly an inspirational story for all ages but is written and illustrated for the young.

Picky Chickies can just fix their own Snacky-snickies.
This is one of the funniest read-alouds I have encountered. Those catchy rhymes and the ridiculous looking, but really very sensible, hen are so absurdly comical that I can't even read this to myself without laughing aloud. I have read it to my 2 year old grandson so often I have it memorized. The surprise ending in which the chickies happily fix a snackie-snickie for themselves that they DO like is a wonderful lesson in self-reliance. (And Mom Henny is equally happy about it too! CLUCK!

Great Rebus Book!
I'm Not Feeling Well Today is a fun rebus rhyme about a child who claims to not be feeling well because he doesn't want to go to school. My daughter quickly had the story memorized and loved "reading" the list of things the boy would need to help him feel better.

The story is very cute and the rhyme is fun. Children will love participating in the story and you won't mind reading it again and again. It is a great book to introduce to children who are getting ready to read.

This is a great book. Very cute and fun for the young.
This is a wonderful book to help teach young children rhyming words. The illustrations are also very appealing to young ones. They especially like the fact that you can sing it as well as read it!

Simply wonderful!!
My daughters (ages 5 & 6) absolutely love this book! We have so much fun reading it together, or by themselves! The story is told in a repeating pattern, and many of which the children have probably memorized by now... but they cannot seem to get enough of this one!

The illustrations are very good, and the book gets progressively better with each turning page. Since some of the words are replaced by a picture (jacket, pants, button, etc.), children that don't read well, will be able to interact easily with this book!

I love this book. I loved it when I was seven, I love it now. You'll laugh until your face hurts each time you read it. Especially if you've ever had and English Sheppard, or any big dog.

Good for creative children
When I was little (a long time ago at this point!) I had this book and was utterly fascinated by it. I remember trying to dye yarn myself after reading it... (well, that didn't work out so well as I recall-- since this is NOT a how-to book, just an engaging story-- but it was fun all the same.) Now that I'm an adult, I would definately recommend this book to anyone with "creative" children who love to make things.

Kids book? I still love it at 30 years old!
I was raised on this book and it has always been a favorite of mine. The pictures are delightful and the story has stayed with me through the years. I love how Geraldine decides to eat all the yummy plants they were going to use to dye the wool. OOPS! Now I find it is on the school reading list and being used in the classroom! I highly recommend this book as a favorite for children and parents alike.

Goat's point of view
This is a very funny story about a goat that tells the story of how her fur becomes a Navajo rug. If you look close enough at the front cover, you'll notice the book is written by the goat herself. It's a wonderful book for all ages, especially Navajo children.
