WOW! Secret to understanding the men in your life!
All you women who are trying to figure out the men in your life--this is it, EUREKA! Whether it's your husband, your son, your dad, or your boss, this book will give you a valid insight into their most intimate vulnerabilities and fears. The book is a study of men, but it's what women need to read--precisely because it's written from a man's perspective. Most women go to a book on "relationships" to understand the men in their lives. John Gray is pretty good on some counts, but believe me, THIS is the ultimate authority on that alien we seek to relate to, who wants us so badly, then goes running off just as we get close, or bites and growls to catch our attention. Did you ever wonder why men are so complicated? This book will not "fix" your relationship, but it will reveal to you the legitimate reasons why the man in your life is so weird, at the same time needy and aloof. The book is not hypothetical, it's about Sam Osherson's observations of real men in his life and practice. These are not "damaged men," but the way men just happen to be. Although men in America are still more valued than women--in spite of the women's movement--Osherson shows that it's not easy to be a man: there are major tensions in the meaning of manhood, and every man has to find his own way to play them out. I came away from this book overwhelmed by a strange empathy for men, never thought it would happen. Men are far more sensitive creatures than we had ever imagined, and Osherson has shown us that studying them with compassion--whether it's in your home, your office, or even your long-ago memories--can be an immensely satisfying experience.

Excellent
Absolutely excellent. Many works of this subject matter spew forth psychobabble and contain nothing useful or substantial. This book rocks.

Touching, sensitive, personalized tales of fatherhood
Osherson is a sensitive storyteller with a realistic account of both the rewarding and the more awkward moments of fatherhood. As a daugther searching to learn more about my own's father's memories of our togetherness, Osherson has inspired me to believe that these precious moments meant as much to him as to me

Understand Men, Finally!!!
For the first time in my life after reading this book, I think I finally have the vaguest understanding of men. Having been married for almost ten years, my husband is no longer a huge enigma. I can't say that I completely understand him, but at least I have a general idea of his motivations and fears. I don't completely grasp everything about his psyche, but then where would the fun be.
