Outstanding book
This is an excellent review of the important brain diagnoses. Great job with getting all important info in one small package. This is certainly one of the best general review books ever written for neuro. all radiology, neuro and neurosurgery departments should have a copy of this book around. and at a great price! much less than giant hardback books, that are harder to find relevent information quickly in!

When will they ever learn
This series is a very good idea. Get the top people in a radiology subspecialty to write a small pocketbook on the most common conditions seen. Perfect for the resident in almost any medical field, the beginning radiology resident, and of course, the medical student.

Then they ruin it all by charging US$50.00 for a it. It's a good book - but for the love of God, it IS a pocketbook, you know.

Handy little book
This is a handy little pocket book of the most commonly encountered diagnoses in neurorads. Picture quality is good, author is very well known, an authority in the field, the notes in the book are concise.

Worth the money.

A little magick from Downunder!!
G'day! This is not a traditional tarot deck but an oracle that consists of forty-eight cards depicting different members of the Australian fauna. From the more popular koalas and kangaroos to the rarely heard of potoroos and numbats, this deck will appeal to anyone who has an affinity with the animals from Downunder. I have several tarot and oracle decks but I must admit... This HAS to be my favorite one! Having recently immigrated from Canada to Oz, I found this deck incredibly helpful in attuning to the natural cycle of the southern hemisphere and getting in touch with the wildlife here. This deck is based on the traditional Native American format of totem-animals, but nevertheless, it includes its own symbols and correspondances such as crystals, runes, astrological symbols and numbers. There are six "master animal cards" that carry a hidden wisdom that is up to the reader to discover. The cards are an excellent tool for meditating as well as divining, and they haven't ceased to amaze me by bringing something new to my attention each time I use them. The cards not only carry wisdom and messages, but also bring the reader to assess the "shadow side" of their personality. Karen Osborn's paintings are realistic, vibrant, and colourful, and truly capture the individual essence and messages of each creature. The cards are surrounded by a white edge that contain keywords that help create the "link" between the reader and the essence of the animal. The only problem I have found with this deck is that the cards are a bit big and difficult to shuffle (it's easier to spread them out on a table ;-) Whether you are a beginner or seasoned reader, this is an excellent deck for anyone who loves animals (especially marsupials,) or anything Australian.

A Must Have Australian Animal Medicine Card Set
This work by Ann Williams-Fitzgerald is so accurate and she has brought their words and wisdom to the pages. The ancient wisdom of our animals definately bring their guidance. I also have Ann's other work - Australian Animal Tarot Deck and in this she has expanded on an extra 30 animals as well as the 48 in this medicine card set. Every time I use this divination set - the wisdom and words bring guidance to me. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this fantastic set

A gift of spititual insights from the animal kingdom
I am the illustrator of this book. The animals depicted had a very distinct energy of how they wished to be portrayed, and the message & gudance that they bring in for you. A wonderful divination tool- incredibly accurate. Enjoy & have fun with the animals from Down Under, they bring you the ancient spiritual energy of this land.

Wonderful captivating and eye opening
This is my all time favorite book. It is so real. The whole letter writing thing. It brings out the personality changes in Abigail when she relocates with her family out west during the civil war. Maggie her sister that she dearly loves changes too but in a negative way. In a way of being narrowminded and not understanding the selfless way that Abigail has become bieng on her own and working the harsh dry and hot land in New Mexico. The Mesa (mountains) are her love and she writes about them quite often to Maggie back home in the East. Not only does Abigail learn to fall in love with this harsh southern land but she allowed me to fall in love with it too and to be for her through the entire story. To want to jump into the pages and help her. Help her through the hard droughts and to feed her children that she bore alone in her hut on the land.
A great book for everyone.
A must read.

Highly reccomended!
I read this novel in a day. It was a really captivating novel, and I think the idea of telling the story in letters worked well. Abigail is a woman whose home has been destroyed by the Civil War. She, her husband, and their young children leave the South to start a new life out West. Abigail writes back to her sister Maggie in Virginia of how she comes to love the harsh but beautiful New Mexican landscape. I am 13 and even though this was a novel meant for adults, I think teens who like historical fiction could enjoy it.

A Love Triangle Out of Control.
In the book The River Road by Karen Osborn, Kevin, a father says, "You think you know people, but when something like this happens, you really don't know anyone at all." Surely this new book by Karen Osborn clearly and unfortunately illustrates this point all too well.

The River Road, told from the point of view of the three main characters, immerses readers in the story of two brothers who are in love with their neighbor Kay. Friends since Kay moved into this rural Connecticut area, David and Kay become lovers during college leaving Michael out of their customary threesome. As younger children, the three of them played childhood games and survived the angst filled world of high school in part because of their strong ties to one another. But then a tragedy occurs leaving parents and these young adults to wonder what went wrong and what really happened. As the remainder of the book attempts to unravel the mystery and what led up to this tragedy, readers have a front row seat as family and friends become accusatory and introspective, The book, told partially through flashbacks culminates in an ending which depicts how individuals suffer after a tragedy and the indomitable spirit to survive and love again. Certainly for those who enjoyed The Pact by Jodi Picoult concerning teenage suicide, this book will serve as a comparison to the repercussions that can occur when young adults fall in love.

Previous to reading The River Road, I read Karen Osborn's second book, Between Earth and Sky, that was set in the late 1800's in New Mexico. Told in the form of letters by a woman pioneer to her family in Virginia, Osborn presents strong women characters and wonderful descriptions of the land. While she does an equally fine job in this book of describing the characters and description of rural Connecticut, The River Road is a much sadder and more intense book in comparison. One can only wonder how life can spiral so badly out of control for something like this to happen.

Riveting
Kay Richards and brothers, David and Michael Sanderson have been friends since childhood. But one tragic night changes not only their lives, but the lives of their families and even the town they live in.

In one careless moment, a life is lost and nothing will ever be the same.

We get all sides of the story as it unfolds in alternating chapters told by Kay, Michael and Kevin (the boy's father). They all loved David and his death affects each in different ways. What first looks like an accident takes an unexpected turn and there's a police investigation and then a trial.

The verdict is riveting and so is this well written book.

the darkness in the best of us
This fine book held me in its grip from beginning to end. The writing is unobtrusive and I was lost in the lives of the characters, until I realised that something unexpected and subtle was being achieved: an examination of the fine line between love and decency, and the unacknowledged capacity for harm in us.

A Fun Read, but Disappointing Towards the End
Karen Osborn's novel contains all the elements I like. The story, which starts in the thirties and ends in contemporary times, is based in a declining mill-town, and is told through the alternating voices of three women connected to the mill. The characters all feel realistic and believable, as well as do the tensions between the characters. The descriptions of the mill feel both historically accurate and "lived."

By the end of the book, I start to feel like I should have liked the book more than I did. Osborn seems to lose her trust in the audience around the middle of the novel, and begins to summarize points she's already made (in case we didn't "get it" through her story-telling), and the allusions to the textile metaphor (both weaving and quilting) that she builds throughout the book become more obvious and stretched.

All in all, this novel is a fun read, especially if you don't think the novel through too much. Read this book for entertainment only and you won't be disappointed.
