The Birthday Car by Margaret Hillert
My son is learning to read and this book and a lot of Ms. Hillert's books are great for him. He loves to read and the Birthday Car is a great book. Our school carries a lot of her titles.

The Birthday Car
I am so thrilled that my son who is learning to read was entertained by this book enough to pick it up and "practice" by himself. The text focuses on basic words that he could identify (includes numbers and colors) and also on words he could "sound out". He took great pride in reading it to his little sister too.

Favorite Childhood Book
I loved this book as a child and still have the gift to read and share with my own children. Every story is very charming and extremely fun to read. My favorite is The Diamond D and the Dreadful Dragon!! Those of you who have had the pleasure of reading this particular story, and have a wry sense of humor fully understands why. This book is a classic and a "must have for all children."

The Seseame Street Storybook
What a wonderful book! Full of emotions, life lessons and fun familiar friends. The story of the Princess and the teeny tiny cookie has stayed with me all my life and I have so enjoyed sharing it with my own daughter.

Dear Dolphin: A Cetacean Alice in Wonderland
This charming book is a must-own for any fan of anthropomorphic dolphins. A 'Through The Looking Glass' style adventure featuring young Anne, who on a lazy summer day, strikes up a friendship with a smart-assy, but big-hearted, dolphin. Along the way, they befriend a dragon, fight scissors and pirates, and learn dolphins have a shocking lack of manners.

While the story is amusing, the illustrations, done in pen-and-ink, are what sets the book apart. Full page plates, little character studies, whimsical fish, and magic undersea scapes move this from a simple children's fantasy to an overlooked work of art. Definitely collectable, both in the pleasure it will bring to anyone who likes dolphins in fantasy, and in its rarity. The book is hardbound, with a great blue-green cover, and very high quality paper.

If anthropomorphic dolphins are your thing, find this book and put it on the shelf next to your Brin.

Childhood Memories Revisited
I remember very vividly sitting on the floor of the children's library and reading this book over and over and over again. I'm now twenty one years old and studying to become a folklorist. Weeny Witch fostered imagination in me very early on. The plot is simple, but fantastic. The evil witches devise a plot to rid themselves of the night fairies.....To find out if Weeny Witch saves the day, and to watch her discover something about herself you'll have to read this book!

Space Dog and Roy
This book was a good, quick read, and pretty funny too. I would recommend it to other 2nd graders looking for a short good book for a book report.

The Dog is Funny!
The book I read is called Space Dog and Boy by Natalie Stanndiford. This book is about Space Dog and a boy named Roy. He was a space man and he had to act like a dog. This book was good because there was some crazy stuff in it. It was good because I like the characters they were really funny. The message the author shared was that just because he looked like a regular dog but he really wasn't. This is a funny book about a dog named Space Dog.

This book was the first book my 5 year old ever read all the way through by himself. It has a good subject that children will enjoy and is very simple to read.

Mice at Bat
My seven-year-old son has always loved books. This one was sent home as part of his first grade daily reading assignment. This is the first book that made him laugh out loud, make frequent observations about as he read it and at the end he said for the first time, "I wish I had this book at home so I could read it any time!"

Not for sensitive children
The child in the story goes to the animal shelter to pick out a kitten. While there were terrific messages about responsible pet ownership, my child was crushed when I had to explain what putting animals to sleep meant. Not something that needs to be in a book for 6 year olds.

Fantastic information al book
I am a first grade public school teacher who believes strongly in humane education. One of my children brought this book to school for book share. I was delighted to hear the acturate information that was presented. Many important animal welfare topics where touched upon. It was a wonderful discussion starter for how to be a responsible pet owner. The children were able to ask many relevant questions and get realistic answers. What a great book to read with children who care about animals. My children asked to hear it again and again.

FANTASTIC ! I love animals and this book!
Hi I am 6 yrs old and you may have seem my reviews before. I am a great fan of I can read books. This one is really one of my favorites. I like what Todds parent's did for him. I also like how helpful and patient Mrs. Star was to Todd. But most of all I loved Scruffy! This book also taught me things about cats I didn't know. If you love animals or want one you should read this book. Again the best part is you can read it to your parents and not have them read it to you.

Terrible Book
Someone told me this was similar to Black Lace books. Nope. It's not. I couldn't get into the story, and I don't remember much of it. I just remember being disappointed because it wasn't a good read, black lace or otherwise.
