A woman travels to an island that is an industrial nightmare
Arch Oboler creates a fantastic and terrifying vision of industrial oppression in this outstanding episode of Lights Out. A young woman travels to the island of her ancestors to find that it is a workers nightmare created by her forebeares to breed an endless line of workers who would work endlessly. Even more horrifying they are not producing anything but working mindlessly because of conditioning that their kind has been subjected to for 300 years.

Classic horror tale, a must listen for fans of Boris Karloff
Arch Oboler was one of the foremost geniuses of radio. He was noted for his experimental use of stream-of-consciousness technique and layered sound effects. This particular tale tells the story of a chump husband (Karloff) deeply in love with his no-good catty wife (Betty Winkler). When they get into a heated argument Karloff calls her a cat and inexplicably, she becomes one, a great big giant one. He stops at nothing to keep this secret from his friends and neighbors. This story was the inspiration for the Val Lewton produced Jacques Tourner directed CAT PEOPLE. It is one of the best of the LIGHTS OUT series.
