I would recommend this book for those interested in learning about or preserving their Catholic faith, outside of which there is no salvation.

With Levinas comes a dramatic shift from the Heideggarian cum Greek privilege of ontology. As levinas suggests, prior to any investigation of Being we first encounter the Other. And it is this encounter with the other that commands me - a command whose first words are 'Thou shalt not kill'. Thus it is ethics that is first philosophy.
This description, its reasons and implications, are many and complex. However, this wonderful little book gives a breadth and clarity that should prove invaluable to the scholar and dilettante alike. Nemo's questions are poignant and Levinas' responses are clear, precise and exhibit a genuine gentility and articulateness that is most apreciated in philosophical writings.
In addition this book is a wonderful accompaniment to Levinas' two main texts: Totality and Infinity and Otherwise than Being.

The photographs from the author's collection, the army's files, the National Archives, etc. are worth its price. But the text, the clear delineation of the periods of Fort Building since 1794 in the US, and the differentiation of the periods, are so worth while.
Ray manages to be both terse, and pithy. It is a great tribute to any author to say that.
This is a MUST read for anyone interested in the subject, even one only interested in their own local Fort, and how it relattes to the defense plans of the United States when it was built.
There is NO better book to read on the subject. None.

Unquestionably, this is one of the best written books I have read pertaining to the tragic historic event. It is an easy reading book however, it is hard to put down once you start.
I will cherish my book always.
Not only is this book invaluable as a source of historic perspective, it is a spellbinding book to read. I especially recommend this book to those non-Jews, like myself, whose understanding and respect for what happened needed some growth.
All the more erie, I read this book while walking the streets where it happened. You cannot help but be deeply moved by this book, its story, and its people.
I urge anyone with the slightest interest to push Amazon to get it for you. I have bought two copies, it takes time, but they can do it. It is worth the effort.

It's his biographical book with his sprit of guitar playing and life. The Tab of this book is not easy to follow for beginners, but it has good tips and lessons you might remember all times.
The CD in this book has nicely recored and it's important to listen before you practice the notes.
This book is not good for the first time guitar player or just have some Tab of Tommy's, but if you want to step to some other level of your guitar playing, it has very much value to buy one.
The music is excellent in its variance, i.e. from the very simple to the very complex. It includes some of Tommy's own compositions, but also several arrangements of other songs guitarists would love to add to their repetoire ("Day Tripper/Lady Madonna," "Blue Moon" and "A Taste of Honey," all of which include moving basslines that sound fantastic). Even the spiral binding is great, making it very easy to set up on your music stand, without the need for page-holders. The sole complaint about this book is the fact that the transcriptions come from one of Tommy's instructional videos, while the CD is recorded specially for the book, meaning they don't always match. This is such a minor issue that it's hardly worth mentioning.
Guitarists need this book! If only other teachers would follow this format.

As with all the Emanuels, this one is organized very well, packing a lot of info in and still making it readable. I recommend periodically surveying the summarized outline at the beginning; then look up your assigned cases in the index and read enough to give you a feel for the issues before you read the cases. Unless your prof is going for breadth and not depth, you won't get through half of this bad boy, but what you do cover will be in here.
Best of all, this supp is very accurate. I regularly brought it to class to refer to, and I thought I had stolen my prof's lecture notes. It clarifies ambiguous doctrines, while appropriately throwing up its hands when commenting on the Court's stance would be guesswork.
I hear all sorts of great things about Tribe, but this was the bomb for me, a lot cheaper and more versatile.

This is a very short (58 pages) book, relating the interview of Maria Simma, a devout Catholic, who, for many years, has visits from the souls in Purgatory. These souls will ask Maria Simma to have prayers said for them: a Mass, or a Rosary, or the Stations of the Cross. The author, Sister Emmanuel, interviewed Maria Simma through an interpreter, and," for the sake of brevity and clarity" (page 3), Sister Emmanuel summed up some of Maria's answers.
This book is not a summary of the Church's doctrine on the issue of Purgatory. Rather, the book recounts the answers of Maria Simma to the questions asked by Sister Emmanuel. That Maria Simma has been visited by the souls from Purgatory is confirmed by incidents (not fully documented in this book) of a deceased person relating details to Maria Simma, and her telling the family of the deceased these details. Maria would have all the details concerning the field, or the exact amount of money, or the property and..."the family would be staggered to discover that she knew all these details". (p. 38)
For anyone wanting to discover what Purgatory is like, this small book gives a description of that place by one woman who has had visions for most of her life. Maria must be approaching her 90s, since she was listed as 82 in the year of publication (1997).
The last few pages are a call to prayer for the souls in Purgatory by the author, Sister Emmanuel. The book is well worth the small price, and ... delivered the book quickly.
all the time....I am new to the faith and have to contstantly
pull something up and this book helps out. some things are little
old like the Mass but that is stuff that anyone can use some reason to delete through study......all the information covered is necessary for a well rounded faithful soul.
