Denise's Review of Nina, Nina, and the Copycat Ballerina
I personally thought that this book would be great for the little girl who is in ballet school herself, and might have the same problem with one of the girls in her own class. This book can also be great for the little girl whose mother wants to widen her experiences by introducing her to the world of the arts. This book is a Level 1 book for Preschool-Grade 1, which means that it has very large words for easy reading, lots of repetition, and pictures to go along with the text. I think that this book is so cute and since I am a dancer myself, I know that I would give this book to my daughter in the future! I give this book two thumbs up!

The Tale of Jemima Puddle-duck
Jemima Puddle-duck wants to hatch her eggs all by herself, but the farmer's wife will not let her. In desperation, whe decides to make a nest away from the farm. So she sets off to look for a nice quiet spot to lay her eggs. While waddling about in search of a dry nesting-place, she comes across a fox reading a newspaper. After hearing her story, the cunning fox tells Jemima of his wood-shed full of feathers where she may sit as long as she like. Jemima takes him up on this generous offer, and follows the hospitable gentleman to his house. What will become of the unsuspecting Jemima Puddle-duck?
If you have never read a book by Beatrix Potter, you are missing out. This story, as well as all her others, is a must-have classic. You have to read this book!

A great beginning reader book.
This is a story of a teeny tiny woman who finds a bone to make some soup. She is haunted by a ghost who wants the bone back. This is a great book for a child learning to read. This is my daughter's favorite Step into Reading book.

New Brownie (and reluctant reader!) LOVED this book
My daughter is an enthusiastic Brownie, but, alas, a reluctant reader. It's always a challenge to find something that holds her interest. She LOVED this book--says she wants to read all of them. Although the book seems formulaic and predictable from an adult point of view, from her second-grade viewpoint, it was a thrill a minute. She was really on the edge of her seat! And delighted with how it all turned out.

Daughter enjoyed the book.
As a Brownie leader, I am always looking for ways to help girls understand the meaning of being a Girl Scout. What a great introduction.

a girl with dreams...
Kate just got new skates from her grandmother. She is very excited about going to the ice rink to skate. Her little sister Jane can skate, but Kate cannot. Kate is embarrassed because people are laughing at her falling. One day she wants to skate as well as Diana Lin, a famous figure skater. One day, Kate sees Diana Lin at the ice rink. Diana Lin teaches Kate how to skate, and she gets better.

I like this book because a girl has a dream to learn how to skate. She accomplishes her dream even though people laugh at her, and she becomes better at skating. I can relate to Kate, because I am the oldest and I have a younger sister. My little sister can ice skate, but I can't. Of course, there are other things I can do that my sister can't, but I find it a little embarrassing if I cannot do something my sister can.

My 3yo is reading!
And she *loves* this book. Jane O'Connor spins a story that makes my daughter want to read it to herself, by herself, with feeling! And she wants to grow up (this week anyway!) and skate just like Diana Lin. Thank you, Ms. O'Connor, for fueling her imagination as well as inspiring her to read!

Simple & Fast Recipies! Perfect For Young Cooks!
I thought this book was very good. I took it out of my public library and tried a few recipies in it and I must say that they weren't bad and were pretty easy and simple to make! It also included recipies for quick and easy fruit drinks, shakes, nibblers and cakes. You don't even have to use an oven, microwave or toaster oven! Each recipie has step-by-step instructions and Care Bear illustrations, which is perfect for any kid to use! Today, many kids love to cook and create things in the kitchen, so this book would be a great start to the early chef! Recommended!

Dinosaur Eggs (All Aboard Reading)

An educational and enjoyable look at dinosaurs
"Dinosaur Eggs," by Jennifer Dussling, is an educational text directed towards readers from grades 1 to 3. The book follows a group of fossil hunters on a quest in which they discover fossilized dinosaur eggs. The text also goes back in time to depict the lives of dinosaurs, and to show how their eggs became fossilized.

Dussling's easy-to-read text is nicely complemented by Pamela Johnson's illustrations. Although I found Johnson's dinosaurs to be a little too "cartoony" looking at times, her illustrations are generally effective, and make good use of a lot of soothing earth tones. Overall, a good choice for young readers with an interest in dinosaurs.

A great book with a surprise ending!
This is a very funny book and we liked it very much. The best thing about this book is that it was filled with surprises. We loved the ending the best. Read "Slime Time" by the same authors to find out what else Danny is up to.

Splat (All Aboard Reading)

Fun for beginning readers!
My son just finished kindergarten. He knows all of his letter sounds, but they didn't touch the long vowel sounds before the summer break. This is a good beginning reader, as even the tougher words like "drencher", and "splat", can be sounded out. There are some words that I read for my son, as they didn't follow the rules, or they had the long vowel sounds. Reading is somewhat of a "chore" for my son, so this book was attractive to both of us because of the comical situations and boy appeal! The story line centers around a small boy and his huge water blaster. A perfect summer read for the kindergartener or First grader.
