Beautiful tour of the greatest courses!
This book has it all. It's like traveling around the world and stopping to play at the greatest courses-and only on beautiful, sunny days! What's more is that your tour guide (the author) knows every interesting and entertaining anecdote about each place and everyone who has played there. If you like this book, take a look at Golf Digest's 50th anniversary book, "Golf Digest: Golf's Greatest Players, Courses and Voices." More great photos and the best golf writing ever!
A lifers review
This is not so much my review as it is my 92 year old grandfather's. He's been golfing for over 50 years and still says it's the greatest game ever played. This book reminded him of places he had been and events he had witnessed. I could tell by his reaction that this is as fine a tribute to the game of golf as you will find anywhere. There could be no tougher critic. Highly recommended.

Excellent reference work
What a wonderful book! This well detailed, well researched work includes every mammal, classified by family making individual animals easy to find. Each section includes maps, a size chart, and beautiful full color pictures as well as an extensive fact section. I strongly recommend this for any school age child, as well as adults. Even my 15 month old loves it.

Shedding New Light
As a rabid anti rat. choice and game theorist, I was initially skeptical of this book. But I think it introduces fair ideas in laymen's terms. Now I know my enemy just a little bit better, and he smells like peanut butter.

A very practical, easy-to-use guide to enjoying the game.
This book is quite possibly more important than any lesson on the mechanics of the game. Filled with details on the unwritten rules of the game, it will assuredly improve the reader's enjoyment of golf and that of the people with whom the reader plays.
The book is broken into specific areas of play, including preparation, in the tee box, on the fairway, on the green, and that age-old argument over walking vs. cart usage.
I highly recommend it!

Very nice pictures and ideal reference guide for new and adv
I was pleased with the layout of the toys, all had catagories such as riding toys, animals, etc. Although no text was associated with the pictures except size and the name of the individual toy, I found it fascinating that all these toys were from 1 collection. When is book 2 coming out?

A classic and entertaining, but not for everyone
Jane Goodall wrote the book on contemporary ethology (the study of animals in the native habitats), literally, but not everyone will enjoy it. It is full of anecdotes from Goodall's life in Africa during the first few decades of the ethology experiment that shocked the scientific community with its informality and enthralled the world with its endearing stories. The reader becomes entranced in the saga of Jane's pitfalls and triumphs, and later is deeply affected by the chimpanzee society and its eerie parallels to that of man. But the reader of which I speak is interested in science, in animal behavior, in the story of a young girl jeered by those who never thought she could make it, in the story of a young girl who almost believed them, in the story of a woman who never did, and whose life, and that of man's closest relative, as well as the world scientific community and the environment as a whole, were changed forever. And, fascinating as the human story is, one must be able to dig the animal story as well, and all the way through the book, which is not long to one who does. Conclusion? Excellent in every respect, but if biology class turned you cold from the start, you might not make it through all 304 pages. Otherwise, get the book -- you'll be in for a treat.
An amazing woman!
Jane Goodall is such an ambassador for chimpanzees and all other life on this planet. Her hard work, insights, and drive are to be admired! This book is her beginning and a must read for everyone. She is a truly amazing woman!
Wonderful account about studying chimpanzees in Africa
This book tells you what Jane Gooddall went through to learn about the animals she loved. It is NOT the scientific account of that research, you can find that elsewhere. It's a fascinating story. I found myself caught up in the lives of the different chimps, wondering what Flo, David, Flint and Fifi were going to do next.
As a student of biology I feel it really narrows in on what it is like to be a field biologist--fascination!
