Great statement of personal faith
Though not as good as his work "Time to Be Bold" (sp.), Michael does a great job of letting you into his world and showing you what God has done in his life. Michael's books excel at making you feel like he is talking just to you. He makes you feel special. He has great sections on how to deal with hard times and some very practical steps to help you grow in the Lord. He has a great love and belief in the power of God's Word. This is perhaps the genius that undergirds this work and his other books as well.

The best book on God's Will
This is one of my favorite books and I also admire the artist for his music talent. There are many authors in the Christian market who are just in it for the money but its clear that MWS is in it to guide and encourage people. The book is well written and he drives the point home without being preachy while making it seem as if he's right there talking to you.

Its for anyone who wants guidance in their life and to know God's will. There are four parts. The first covers a place to grow, to belong to, to make a difference, its basically about find a place to "bloom." The second is Purpose and about finding purpose in your life, the third is passion in your life. What are you passionate about? Is it music or something else? The last part is about God's plan in your life. If your a Christian seeking God's will then I'd really reccomend this book, I'd definitely reccomend it to all regardless of your age.

Your Place In This World
I have now bought over a dozen copies of this book by Michael W. Smith. Every person without exception has said the same thing. They all felt it spoke to them. Michael "walks the walk" and it shows. I'm back to buy 3 more copies and Amazon.com, you'd better keep 'em in stock for me! :)

A must have for the legal proffesional or law studnet!
Know of of a lawyer (whom does not already have this indespenseable tool) or of a person heading to law school; then you should buy this book for them, i.e., Black's Law Dictionary by Bryan A. Garner (Editor), et al. The reference book starts out with a pronunciation guide; preface (which is very well written indeed); guide to dictionary; list of abbreviations; dictionary; seven appendixes, legal maxims, the constitution of the united states of america, universal declaration human rights; time chart of the united states supreme court; federal circuita map; british regnal years; list of works cited. The price is abit steep ... but it is well worth its price.

Ideal for starting a study of law...
As mentioned in an earlier review, the pocket version of Black's Law Dictionary is ideal for the beginning law student, such as myself. While not as thorough as the unabridged version, it is much more convenient to carry around for one. Second, the concise definitions are ideal for getting the gist of a legal definition. I have found that many of the cases studied in first year classes are seventy to one-hundred-and-fifty years old. As a result, many legal terms used in those cases are a bit outdated. Enter the pocket dictionary, which does an admirable job of giving a concise clear defintion, just right for understanding the term used in the case.

As the semester has rolled along, I have found that I am using the dictionary less, which is natural I suppose since I am becoming more familiar with the language of law. I still keep it handy as a refresher. While the internet does offer many valuable resources for defining legal terms, the pocket dictionary is still a valuable resource for use on a plane, on the bus, or when the internet isn't available in class.

If you are planning on studying law, I would recommend picking up a copy of the pocket version of Black's Law Dictionary.

Terrific...Even for the Non-Lawyer
A professional who works with attorneys and needs to understand certain legal concepts and terminology, I have found "Black's Law Dictionary" a most useful tool. It defines legal terms in such a clear and concise way that I don't need legal dictionaries designed for the "layman." Whenever I want to understand a new legal term, I pick up this book and acquire a basic understanding within just a minute or so.

Most attorneys already have familiarity with this book. I highly recommend "Black's Law Dictionary" to the layman.

Fundamentals of Air Traffic Control
Published in Hardcover by Wadsworth Publishing (1994)

Full of historical detail
This book is a college text about how the American air traffic control system works. Nolan was an air traffic controller himself, and is quite familiar with the history of air traffic control procedures in the U.S. The book contains chapters on the history of air traffic control, navigation systems (that have been used throughout the history of air traffic control), airspace classification, air traffic control communications, air traffic control procedures, non-radar separation, radar operations and separation, oceanic air traffic control, the future of air traffic control, and employment within the Federal Aviation Administration. Appendices cover IFR chart legends, aircraft models, and airport 3-letter identifiers. Each chapter begins with a list of explicit goals and ends with a vocabulary list and review questions. There is also an extensive glossary at the back of the book.

I think the book may give a firm historical perspective on American air traffic control to students who wish to be employed by the FAA. It provides a general overview of the tasks of air traffic controllers, but reading this book is clearly just the first small step along the way towards formal training as an air traffic controller. I found the historical coverage quite complete, and the book may be valuable as an archive of air traffic control hardware and procedures. The chapter on the future of air traffic control is very telling, however. It describes many new software products that will hopefully very soon make many of the procedures and equipment described in the remainder of the book obsolete.

One striking aspect of the book was its intense focus on US air traffic control to the extent that the existence of air travel beyond the borders of the US is barely acknowledged. (The map on p. 84, for example is quite telling- -it seems to depict the continental U.S. as an island, surrounded by water on all sides.) In a general college textbook about air traffic control, it would have been at least somewhat interesting to learn a little about how US air traffic control procedures differ from those in other countries, and why, or how our air traffic control rules have influenced or been influenced by those of other countries. Certainly a summary of such topics would be at least as valuable to future air traffic controllers as the detailed political history of the U.S. air traffic control system that is presented in chapter 1.

Superb
This book is excellent. It provides the basic knowledge for people who would be going itno the ATC field. It provides excellent examples of communications, strip marking, and typical phraseology used.

Smileage
I really enjoyed reading this book on travel games and activities. I wish my parents had this book when I was a child and often grew bored stiff on long car trips from Connecticut to Florida.

Smileage contains great conversation starters, games, quizzes and ponderings for the prisoners of a car or other mode of transportation. I found the quality of these suggestions to be very good. Though the book touts itself as being "for all ages," some of the activities are rather complex and certainly would not lend themselves to toddlers for example. I think that that majority of the activities would be most appropriate for school-age children and older.

I give Smileage four stars for originality, creativity, and overall travel fun! In fact, some of the conversation starters could be good in general to increase communication, closeness and interaction with your kids.

Lacks Technique and Fine Art Ability
This book attempts to tackle the subject of creating fine art in Photoshop. The end result is a book with insufficient tips and techniques for using Photoshop and a simple guide to creating lowsy artwork--the fine art in the book demonstrates very little skill.

Very displeased
I was excited to see a Photoshop how-to book that would teach fine art techniques. Unfortunately, this book is not it. A slickly designed cover does not make up for the authors inability to draw. Why would I want to create paintings that look like these? There are many excellent Photoshop books on the market, but this is not one of them.

Discover the creatuve painter within you!
If you aspire to create more than logos and web graphics on your computer, you'll want a copy of Fine Art Photoshop. Fine Art Photoshop will take you to the next level of creativity, where you begin using Adobe Photoshop not so much as a software program but for a creative self-expression. Although ostensibly a "software" book, Fine Art Photoshop taught me a great deal about art in general and contributed to a greater understanding of many basic concepts which have helped me enjoy paintings more as well as helped me take more satisfying photographs--in particular, creating meaningful perspective effects. Fine Art Photoshop teaches you by doing, guiding you through the process of modifying simple, scanned photographs by applying various Photoshop effects such as different media (pencils, airbrush, pen and ink, oil, watercolor, etc.) You'll soon gain the confidence to move beyond the examples in Fine Art Photoshop and experiment with on your own.
