Perfect Beginner's Christmas Book
This is a great book for a first year piano student. It's fun and a real confidence booster for kids to be able to sit down and play a familiar Christmas tune for grandma and grandpa or other guests and this book gives simple arrangements that sound nice. Plus there are pictures to color too so for under five dollars I can't think of a better deal!

Love it
We love Christmas and this has been a fun book for our piano player to learn Christmas songs from. Simple but the melody is there.

Lovely Beginners Christmas Carol Book
Great for children. Each song is illustrated with pictures to color. Wide representation of songs and styles. The arrangements are simple, but musical.

Note: Although this book is for beginners, it is at the Primary Level. If you're looking for a simple five-finger Christmas book. This isn't it. Great for Level II Primary however!

It's also a fun book to improvise from. There's something about seeing the Carols broken out of their standard hymn settings that sparks the imagination for creating spontaneous innovative arrangements when working from Bergerac's setting as a base.

A great Value!

Color your own Van Gogh Paintings at your own kitchen table
As this book points out, Vincent van Gogh's individualized style was defined by expressive brushwork, an intense emotionality, and the heightened use of color. The 30 Van Gogh masterpieces rendered by Marty Noble in this Color Your Own Art Masterpieces coloring book obviously lose out on the expressive brushwork, but you have your own chance to add the other two qualities when your color these yourself. You can either copy the originals that are shown in color on the back cover or you can pick your own palette. My preference is for the latter, not only because I do not think they make a collection of crayons big enough to really do justice to the originals, but also because these are IMPRESSIONIST paintings and I ascribe to the idea that your impressions are just as valid as van Gogh in this regard. Noble's renderings are okay (I think there are inherent limitations to line drawings of these works), which means they look more like standard coloring book drawings than black and white reproductions of van Gogh's masterpieces, which includes "Sunflowers," "Starry Night," "The Church at Awers," and even "Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear and Pipe." But they are just so much fun to color and there is still something to be said for doing such things by hand instead of using your computer. I would look elsewhere to provide youngsters with an introduction to Vincent van Gogh's life and art, but "Color Your Own Van Gogh Paintings" is a nice little way of letting them explore impressionist art.

Good adult therapy
I was looking for a good "adult therapy" style coloring book, and this is exactly what I was hoping for. Since I can't draw, I satisfy my creative yearning with coloring. The pictures have a enough detail to be absorbing, but not so much detail as to be tedious. The paper and granularity of the drawings are perfect for crayons, which I prefer over markers or pencil. My husband still teases me for playing with crayons, but at least my subjects are adult now.

Color Your Own VAN GOGH Paintings
"Color Your Own VAN GOGH Paintings" is a great way to introduce children to a famous painter. As an elementary art teacher (grades K-6), I'm always looking for creative ways to introduce famous painters and techniques to students. This book will be a great asset to the Van Gogh study I introduce to the kindergarten class. We currently read "Camille and the Sunflowers", a book about Van Gogh, and then do a Van Gogh-like sunflower painting. This book will give them another look at Van Gogh's work... and THEY get to give his pictures life by coloring them in! There are 30 meticulously rendered black-and-white drawings of some of his masterpieces. (Also included are the 30 accompanying full-color illustrations depicted on the covers!)

What a deal!
I had contacted a stencil store to find fairy stencils for me. They were very expensive and so I ordered this without knowing exactly what to expect. They are just joyously perfect! I have used them to stencil the top of a picnic basket, for cards, wrapping paper and plan to use them in my whimsical bathroom. And they aren't just for kids, just for the kid in us... I am 52 years old and they still kindle magic for me!

Nice designs
There are three sheets of heavy white plastic with about 9 different stencil designs. I say "about" because in some cases the designs can be combined or split up as you wish, especially on one of the sheets. One sheet contains only two large fairies. Another contains the three that could be combined or split up. The last contains four more smaller fairies. Many of the fairies are interacting with other items that could be used separately; like hearts, flowers, leaves and branches, and a butterfly.

All designs are fairly open and would therefore be easy for kids to use with success.

Perfect for a young Cinderella fan
My 4-year old daughter has enjoyed a number of books in this series. She loves coloring the pages and posting them on the walls of our home. The book includes the Cinderella story. I plan to include these books in the goody bags at my child's next birthday party, since she has requested a Cinderella theme. They are a great stocking stuffer or small gift.

A Wonderous Fable for Young and Young-at-Heart...
The Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh...in his 100 Acre Wood Eden...are celebrations of friendship and loyalty. Maurice Sendak's WHERE the WILD THINGS Are, startlingly glimpses into fun; adventure and beckoning unknown dangers inhabiting the seemingly guileless imagination of children. THE VELVETEEN RABBIT might be thought to complement these major modern works of CHILDREN MYTHOLOGY. "How Toys become Real..." is subtitle and theme of this superbly crafted fable about LOVE: its promise; pain and overwhemling power to miraculously transform. Like all great fairy-tales, cuentoes and parables, the story is Once-upon-a-Time simple. It can be read to any child over three, and read by any child eight or older(3.5 g/e). It is told from point of view of a "really splendid, fat and bunchy Velveteen Rabbit...with coat spotted brown and white...real thread whiskers...and ears lined with pink sateen." The toy rabbit "quests" the love of his playmate master(BOY)that can...according to Mentor and friend THE SKIN HORSE...grant REALITY.
"When a child loves you for a long, long time...not just to play with...but REALLY loves you, then you become REAL."

Adorning this story is the wonderous art of illustrator Donna Green. In this 1995/98 edition, the "picture book" is illuminated with beautiful oil, acrylic, and lush pastel paintings that glow, and shimmer Life-like and LOVE-like. It is beautiful art work intrinsically conveying Margery Williams' mythical message to the young and young-at heart. (10 Stars)

My daughter's favorite book!
Daughter Anna (now 19 years old) loved this book. It was her favorite above all others. As we sorted through some old kid things for give-away purposes, we stumbled upon this old, well worn copy of "The Velveteen Rabbit." She insisted we keep the book for HER children.

This was her book that Mama (me!) had to read to her again and again and again. As soon as the last word was read on the last page, it was "Mama, please read it again!"

(how I miss those days, by the way!)

The book also has a powerful message about Love that children understand and cherish.

This is a wonderful book. No child should be without their own copy of "The Velveteen Rabbit."

The most inspirational story that I've ever read.
This is a heartwarming story about a toy rabbit filled with sawdust that wants to be real. He realizes what the meaning of "real" is when his owner, a young boy, gives him the answer for which he searches. My wife bought this book for me last month. I missed it as a child. I've learned the lesson in this book in traditional ways, by trial and error. I would have loved to have this treasure as a child and thank my beautiful wife, Lori, for giving it to me, now. Only real love has any meaning or longevity, at all. I ask you readers to not pass up this gem of a book. It is a must for children and adults alike.
