Harry Bertoia was a prolific sculptor. He worked from the early 40's till his death in 1978. Ms. Nelson thoroughly covers the progression of his work: jewelry, early stabiles, wire constructions, the chair designs he did for Knoll International, braised metal screens, spill cast bronze, rod and tube fountains, stainless steel sprays/dandelions, bushes and sounding sculptures for which he is best known. She illustrates his work with photographs of both public and private pieces. The timeline and bibliography are accurate and very inclusive. This reference book, which is available at libraries, is the only book written exclusively on him as a sculptor. He is included in other books and articles about sculpture.
