Great new Update
The authors have kept up-to-date with new editions. User-friendly charts and clear explanations make this one of the best psychopharmacology books on the market.

User friendly and comprehensive
This book provides many charts and quick references to a broad number of psychiatric medications, but also goes beyond just a discussion of medical treatment. It provides a clear understanding of the underlying neurobiology of various psychiatric medications, presumed mechanisms of action of drugs, and practical treatment guidelines. The book also offers a nice review of psychaitric diagnosis with an eye towards medication treatment. The book is written in an exceptionally clear style and is current in terms of theories and research. I recommend it to all of my graduate students.

Clear and Practical
Takes complex material and makes it easy to understand. Practical and applied.

An Absolute Necessity for All Taking Psychiatric Drugs
This is a book that you simply must read. And yes, I will tell you why. In some cases, psychiatric drugs are necessary. And they will be a part of your treatment. I lost it when I gave complete control to my psychiatrists. I'll give you a short example. I said to one psychiatrist, "Could the Valium AND the Prozac cause ill effects?" Answer, "I don't know why it should." Later, I would find out that this answer would not be good enough! If you buy this book while you are taking psychiatric drugs, you will be taking responsibility for your own health care! Should you be taking this medication before bedtime? During meals? Before meals? With aspirin? This book tells all so that you will not become addicted to Valium like I did. Please read it for your best care. Thank you.

Honest. Straightforward
Striaght talk about psychiatric drugs. Up to date and technical, but written in plain English. Treats psychiatric patients like knowledgable hunam beings who need to know the facts.

An excellent story of sailing the South Pacific
An excellent book of John and Barbara's voyage from San Juan Island in the United States to Brisbane, Austraila. They travel throughout the South Pacific and visit many out of the way places, including Pitcain Island and Penrhyn Island. Rip-Roaring good read
This book is a must for all western historians. It chronicles the life of a man not known by many. The book takes the reader through the life of a brave frontiersman. The West Texas atmosphere is well represented. The book contains photos of a time long past. Being from this area I found the book very interesting. It kept me wanting more and more.

Metropolitan regionalism gets seminal review
As the world turns into a global entity, the United States has becomes a bona fide metropolitan nation. The 1990 census painted the picture of this accelerated pace of urbanization in striking numerical colors: Slightly more than 50 percent of us live in the 39 U.S. metropolitan areas with populations of more than a million people. By contrast, the mid-20th century census uncovered only 30 percent of the U.S. population living in 14 metro areas with million-plus populations.

But citistate realities don't just apply to the larger regions -- the New Yorks, Los Angeles, Chicagos, Bostons of America, the Berlins, Londons, Hong Kongs, Shanghais of the globe. All metropolitan regions face stiff competition and challenges. Include the United States' metro regions under 1 million people and the count exceeds 80 percent of the nation's people.

To put a human face on this fast-paced urbanization, three members of the Citistates Group -- Neal Peirce, Curtis Johnson and John Stuart Hall-- coined the new term "citistates." In their words, citistates are "not just the center city, but the entire metropolitan region - the 'real city' made up of center city, inner and outer suburbs, and rural hinterland so clearly and intimately interconnected in geography, environment, work force, and surely a shared economic and social future."

The transformation is apparent across the Atlantic, where Europeans have begun to describe their continent as a hodgepodge of powerful citistates -- from Manchester to Stuttgart, Lyon to London, Milan to Marseilles. Like U.S. citistates, these metropolitan regions are making economic and cultural transactions with little regard to their own nation-state governments.

The Citistates Group associates see a shift in thinking from the familiar governmental paradigm -- federal-state-local -- to one focused on function: global-regional-neighborhood.

* Global because critical issues have worldwide implications -- global warming, economic restructuring, rapid global market repercussions.

* Regional because the metropolitan areas, or citistates, share areawide transportation systems, media outlets, medical assistance, goods, services, even crime. Peirce argues that the success of the regional system -- on every measure from workforce preparedness to the quality of the infrastructure -- determines how competitive and successful the citistate will be for all its citizens in the long run.

* Neighborhood because it is on the personal, community level that escalating U.S. social problems can ultimately be dealt with.

Citistates includes six case studies based on Peirce Reports for the leading newspapers in Phoenix, Seattle, Baltimore, Dallas, St. Paul and Owensboro, Ky. These popularly written analyses examine each region's special problems and suggest potential solutions tailored to the local situation. The goal in each series is to identify ways out of a region's dilemmas by tapping civic energies -- forward-thinking talents and skills in business, civic, academic sectors -- to create a more sustainable citistate in the next century.

In his review of the book, George Knight, executive director of Neighborhood Reinvestment, took note of the role of neighborhoods in civic renewal. "Peirce gives full credit to community-based development organizations for revitalizing some of America's most devastated neighborhoods."

The book's wind-up chapter includes an 8-point formula for "citistate cohesiveness and strength." -- Craig Anthony Thomas, Senior Research Associate, The Citistates Group

A "must" for all Ed Paschke fans and American art students.
One of the most prominent, innovative and influential figures of Chicago's "imagist" movement (an offshoot of the Pop Art era) was Ed Paschke. His paintings spanning a twenty-five year period were hallmarked by themes of confrontation with social and cultural values, and explored personality based media-based images including those of famous celebrities such as Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and a legion of anonymous strippers, pimps, and social outcasts of every category and classification. In this outstanding work enhanced with 63 color plates and 29 b/w photographs, Neal Benezra, Dennis Adrian, Carol Schreiber, and John Yau collaborate to showcase the work, thought and influence of Ed Paschke for a new generation of art students and aficionados.

Every chapter of this book is well written and informative
As a nursing clinical coordinator of a dual diagnosis program here in Miami, Florida I would purchase this book again. Initially I balked at the high price for such a physically small book. Later when I was able to immediately begin utilizing separate chapters in my educational groups my patients loved the material presented. Most therapy book are either dry with too many nonessential facts to provide for intresting readying. I did not find that true with this excellent reference tool.

THE must buy
I'll be sincere, I wasn't very impressed by Unknown Armies.
Yes, it was a good book and wasn't expensive, but after tons os modern-conspirational-supernatural-horror-RPG, the things that made UA shine didn't justfy all the hype for me.
But the sourcebooks are another matter.
I would call most of them masterpieces and the ones not included at this category, just great.
I would rate Weep in the first category.
It's not just a adventure module but a book full of ideas, inspirations if you mind, that can put a SOUL not just in UA, but in any other similar RPG setting.
If I have any complains about this book is:
* They are so good thay I just can't decide which one use first.
* Now I MUST buy the next UA sourcebook "Ascension of the Magdalene"
Thank you for all the people of Atlas Games.

Good to the Last Page
This is the story of a criminal in the 1930's who was part of the Barrow gang, and whom we've previously heard little if any about. Though a good part of the book is about his time spent with Bonnie and Clyde, it's also about his own career in crime and the atrocities of the Texas prison system of the era. The book is well written and also very well researched. The author is to be applauded for his extensive list of resources. Mr. Fults, the ex-gang member, does put a sympathetic spin on Barrow and Parker. But he was there, and he got to know them in a different way than a lawman or reporter. The book contains some good photos, many which were new to me. Well done!

Running With Bonnie and Clyde: The Ten Fast Years of Ralph
Great book! There are footnotes all throughout the book to let the reader know where the author got his information. It reads like a novel yet the information seems a little more acurate than most nonfiction books since most of his writings come directly from interviews with the ones involved. Since the book was published all of the people involved are dead, so this is the end of the personal information. After reading this book one can understand why this couple went so wrong, and why they are America's most notorius outlaws.

Must Read for all Bonnie & Clyde Enthusiasts
I admired the lengths the author went to to assure historical accuracy of the book. Accuracy pertaining to Bonnie & Clyde were of high importance to me. The author at the same time should be credited for bringing out the human element in it as well. I was touched very much by Ralphs Fultz life as well. The way he turned his life around after all he had been through is astonishing and nothing less than miraculous. Fultz' work to stand up against the corruption of the prison system and spread the word to help others from following the same road were admirable. I found that I was inspired over all by the story.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the number of photos in the book as well as several maps outlining movements of the key individuals involved.

It would be my profound pleasure to one day shake the hand of the author that painstakingly put this work together.
