a diet for EVERY lifestyle
The most sensible and easy-to-follow diet I have read about in a very long time. There are NO gimmicks! This book is full of interesting, commonsense, practical information that makes eating well and losing weight a reality. MOST IMPORTANTLY, it's easy to incorporate into a busy and hectic lifestyle! GREAT quick recipes & vegetarian friendly!

No-nonsense advice
This is a great book, full of advice that is really easy to use. The authors give you the "skinny" on how to lose weight and eat more healthfully--like tips for ordering in a Mexican restaurant, self-evalutations and menus. It's nice to read a diet book that's not trying to sell you on some wierd, complicated fad!

A must have for every new diabetic
When I was first diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and had to lose weight, I was at a loss to know where to start. This book has been a life saver. It has the calorie, carbohydrate and fat count of more foods than you can imagine. The first part of the book deals with the reasons for managing your diet and how diet affects diabetes. This book has become my constant companion in the kitchen. It helps me use my favorite receipes while controlling calories and carbohydrates.

Great reference for gram contents of foods.
It was a good book... I follow a slightly different meal plan during the day (6 - 8 meals of 200 - 300 calories each) not exceeding my bodyweight in carbs, and consuming at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, but still an excellent reference to track your diet.

a must for all who enjoy healthy balanced weight management
this book is great because it includes all the things we need to know no matter which plan we are following. It has calories, carbs, fats as well as sugars. I have not seen it in any other book. It is highly recommended by my counselor at Lindora.

Very useful but wish it were updated
I have this book -left over from when my daughter was a baby (born in 1980). I used it for her with very good results and much enjoyed the recipes and ideas. But now when planning my little granddaughter's meals we have a few questions. Many of the recommendations in this book (whole milk from 6 months as a food, chicken liver from 4 months, etc.) are very much not recommended in general by experts today. I wish there were an updated version.

A Great Guide for Feeding your Child
As a new mother venturing into the unknown land of Feeding My Child, Part II (the very scary Part I being "Breastfeeding:You and Your Stretch Marks") I was so glad to finally find a book about this delicate subject! No Nonsense Nutrition For Your Baby's First Year is easy to read, follow and understand. When you are as tired as I am, these are very important criteria in a book. The authors have provided menus, dos, don'ts, it wont kill thems, and much more. Seriously, having a child and being completely in charge of their food intact is serious business and these ladies make it easy!

The book is good, but it could be better in many ways
This book has many brand names which I found very helpful. However, in the back is a restaurant/fast food section. I'm in California and many of the restaurants/fast food places listed have no locations here so they were irrelevant to me. Also, my favorite, Del Taco, wasn't listed.

Great reference!
This book is very easy to use, and all sorts of foods are listed (including Del Taco in the new edition). It's a great way to keep track of how many calories and how much fat and saturated fat you're eating every day, even if you're not dieting.

Counting fat and getting healthy has never been easier
The Fat Counter is an absolute must-have not only for people trying to lose weight but for all of us who are trying to follow a healthy diet. The best part about it is that it provides the fat grams and the calories on hundreds of foods BY BRAND. So, it's very easy to calculate your fat and calories even if you live on ready-made, frozen, canned, or fast foods. It also explains and helps readers calculate how much fat they really need in their diet. Its size is very practical and the book can be carried around anywhere.

Very Handy
The pocket-sized book is very convenient -- easy to carry around and use. It provides a good guideline for protein grams, but as with most references of this nature, the listings can only be regarded as rough estimates. It does succeed at least in giving us an idea of which foods to gravitate toward if we are seeking high protein meal choices.
