...will fell like a day in the life of an average Karachite
An excellent book. I recommend it! Maniza Naqvi has done a great job in bringing to the readers the daily hustle and bustle of living in Karachi. The book has a lot more to it that just the daily life of living in Karachi. Its a story about a woman who returns to Karachi and seeks to assimilate herself in the everyday life of an 'average' Karachite. She is also very indifferent in describing the decadance of the city, as if it doesn't effect the decisions made by the main character in her book. She allows the reader to form the impression that this is the city of joy (no matter how improvished it is, it is the people that make it the city of joy!)and that has tremendous potential if it were every to have a mass transit system. Not only because a mass transit system allows people of all stratas of society to ride together, come in physical contact with each other, but because it is very symbolic of a well developed infrastructure. Its a great book!
