Forbidden Doors
There is no way to give proper tribute to these amazing books in 1,000 words or less. They are must read books for any teenager who wanted to know how to fight evil with good and know how great our God is. With a quoted word from scripture, demons flee in terror. The difference in power between he who lives in this world and He who lives in me is astronomical. Of Christian non fiction out there, this series is one of three I took the time to read, buy, and recommend. Bill Myers is a fanomonal writer. He's right up there with C.S. Lewis. My only question is: who is Z?

awesome read

great series
This is an awesome series for any Christian teen, and anyone else who wants to read it! It really shows the power of God and how He gives Christians authority over demons, etc. This series can really build your faith! Except the last book made you think another one was coming... what about #11? I hope there is more to come! =)

Goodbye, R.L. Stine!
My daughter, like many girls her age, has an interest in R.L. Stine books. She desires to know more about the spiritual realm, and she wants to face her fears. Healthy desires, yes. Open to deception, absolutely.

Bill Myers "Forbidden Doors" books have been just what the Physician ordered. I've enjoyed Myers' adult novels, but I think his books for the younger set are even more entertaining. And, above all, they shed light on the biblical definitions of good and evil.

"The Deceived" is the second book we've read together. We liked the first book, but this one was even more riveting. This time, Myers lets one of his main characters, Rebecca, face the deception that's all around. She begins to succumb to the "logic" of reincarnation and hypnotism, mesmerized by the beguiling Maxwell Hunter. Her struggle is believable. Scary stuff. And, with the end of each chapter, my daughter was begging for more. In fact, she let her library book of R.L. Stine's sit abandoned on the table as we cruised through the pages of "The Deceived" to discover Rebecca's final outcome.

We've already obtained a copy of the third book, "The Spell." We can't wait to get started! Hello, Bill Myers. Goodbye, R.L. Stine!

A book for any age
This book is great. I'm a teen and I still love this book.
Reincarnation is definetly not my specialty( I never understood it before) but Bill Myers explained it and showed us how dangerous it is.

This book is awesome!
Hi! I really recommend this book to all teenagers who are into Jesus and like to be kept on the edge of their seat. The whole forbidden Door series is great. I rate this a top notch book. It teaches the importance of not letting even a little bit of sin in your life. If you give it an inch, it takes about a hundred miles. So give you whole self to God, not just part. Myers really emphazises the importance of faith and prayer. Please read this book!

Inspiration In Print.
First, forget the overblown, wordy, and tedious "Left Behind" series. These books are concise, to the point and there is not a wasted word to be found. The character development is excellent. By the end of the books, you feel like you know the characters personally. I kept picturing Nicole Kidman and Sarah and the actor from the TV series "Smallville" as Brandon.....anyway I digress. I read thru all three books in about a week and a half. The messages are clear and not preachy like the "Left Behind" books. Very inspirational and wonderful at putting old religious ideas in a modern context. Check out his book "Eli"...also excellent.
A must read.

Bill Myers is awesome!
I recently finished reading the trilogy. It was great! When I read it, it seemed like I was watching a movie play in my head. The descriptions were so vivid, and I felt like I was there with Brandon and Sarah as they fought Satan and his followers. As a Christian, I feel that Mr. Myers will reach people for Christ through this book. Thank you for writing awesome books, Bill!

A extra Reminder.
This book is extremely moving, I cried through the ending of one of the series,I wont tell wich one.It reminds a few that understand the Bible of how Jesus gave his life for us, to save the world of certain destruction.I want to appologize to Bill Myers though.I had said there would never be another writer like Frank .E. Peretti,I was very wrong. If you love his books like I do you will fall in love with Bill Myers book.Fire of Heaven Trilogy.
I'm ready to go out to the bookstore & pick-up anything with his name on it :)

Heartfelt & Warm- A Must Read for Any Parent
Bill Myers is such an amazing author. He knows how to pull your heartstrings and keep you turning pages until you reach the last. When the Last Leaf Falls shows a father's love for his daughter and the trials he faces when she is diagnosed with cancer. In the end, God's love and mercy prevails. You'll laugh and cry while reading this one! Any family (parent) that has been touched by a severe illness will be enlightened by this story. I couldn't put it down (finished it in 1 1/2 hours). Job well done, Mr. Myers!

painful renewal
The one promise I need you to make is that you will pick up this book. I have somewhat a considerably appreciative opinion of the author and though I felt the book had a beautiful cover, I never actually pursued reading it. I have had it in my collection since it was first released. One day during one of the common moments of weakness familiar to a teen girl, I feel into temptation with the curiosity about the book. Slowly sinking into the story, I am prejudice. I am a teenager. I am this character Ally. My father, the pastor, so familiarly relates to the somewhat archive depiction of the father pastor on 7th Heaven and with that of my true father and his pastoral tendencies. Fully being attached at the hip with Ally, the Holy Spirit's amazing empathetic imposition on my spirit has become heavy. Instantly, my heart was opened and as the teenager that this culture has produced, I fled so willingly back to the safety of my parents and the slavery of righteousness was back into affect.

I found the writing to be enchanting, as well as fluid. I can honestly say that I found little to judge in this book even though I do have to say that I am quite the analytical reader (another prejudice.) I am so inspired by the touches that Myers added to the father. His yearnings for loving communion with his daughter brought relationships on this earth into view. I commend him for opening his heart to all of us, in such a wonderful piece of artistic pleasure. I may be analytical, but my emotional tendencies somewhat had the reins in this book.

I truly believe that if you pick up this book and open your heart to what the Lord has in store for you, the fallacies that the author might have made would be menial to the message that his Inspiration yearns to whisper lovingly into your ear. I am not implying in any way that there were any fallacies, but I am saying that this book has truly ministered to my heart and if you give it the chance it will be a revolutionary element in how you view your father and how to strive for the Father.

When The Last Laef Falls
When The Last Leaf Falls written by Bill Myers is a wonderful explanation of God's love and a family's commitment and support for each other.
The story was based on the book The Last Leaf; When The Last Leaf Falls is a story of a teenage girl and her family. Ally is a typical teenager, she loved hanging out with her friends, listening to music and going to movies. When she was diagnosed with cancer that all changed for her and her family. Her father, Paul was a pastor and her grandfather was a retired pastor also. Her grandfather had a very close relationship with Ally and spent most of his time in their shed painting, trying to create God's love on canvas.
The book begins with her father waiting by the glowing neon light of the time on the microwave. He was waiting to receive a call from some close family friends on when they would arrive to look after Ally's younger sister and brother, Ally was in the hospital and he was waiting to join her and her mother there. While he is waiting he remembers times of her growing up and struggles she had to face while being treated with chemotherapy. As she lost her hair and grew even more ill she slowly stopped having faith in God. There had always been only one leaf on their tree in the backyard. The book is titled When The Last Leaf Falls because Ally always said when the last leaf off their maple tree fell she would be gone. Her granddad died before he could show his masterpiece of God's love one in which he had slaved over for months. Now, I don't want to give the ending away but he did complete his painting, an outstanding one "but while he may never paint his great work of art, he definitely helping to shape another masterpiece... his granddaughter" but to find out how you will have to read the book.
Having cancer is terrible and a tragedy to a family. For Ally and her family it was a test, a test of their love for God and their responsibilities to each other. I enjoyed reading this book every day, it showed me how God really works in mysterious ways.

Good, but violent
When Daniel Lawson's wife Jill is killed by a mysterious intruder while the couple are hosting a Holy Land tour from their large church in America, Pastor Lawson loses the center of his existence. He's not quite lost his faith in God, but is heartbroken that God would take her away. Her last words haunt him; that she must go, it's "the only way". Those and the earlier words spoken to him by his gracious wife, that he did not love the people of God anymore.

Daniel begins a quest to learn the truth behind the mysterious stone that was given them by a market trader at the last minute. It's old, it's strange . . . and it's potentially the reason why Jill was killed. He is joined by his estranged son Tyler, and interested archaeologist Helen Zimmerman. A native Muslim girl named Nayra joins them as well, offering her knowledge of the region in their search. God blesses their mission, and they are successful many times. But Daniel is also haunted by dreams, the same type of dreams that his wife mentioned the night before she died - and the same dreams that seem to be caused by the stones.

At the same time Daniel's quest is progressing, another man is on a hunt for the stones. Ibrahim El-Magd is a devout Muslim, and he believes that Allah's time has come. He has positioned many members of his radical group around the world to engage in "Allah's Day" of judgment and cleansing. He too has learned of the stones, and has experienced dreams. He, too searches for more of the mysterious stones, in hopes that his dreams will be fulfilled, and that he will also see . . . The Face of God.

BAD POINTS: This book is a violent book, no question there. In fact, author Bill Myers requests that any reader under 17 delay reading it until he or she is a little older. That's an NC-17 rating, folks. If it were made into a movie, with today's lax rating standards, it would probably only warrant an R rating, but it's still rather intense. Violence includes the cutting off of a Muslim boy's hand as punishment for stealing, a few deaths by gunshots (including Jill Lawson's), and a nighttime raid on a Christian group in a Muslim country. One soldier proceeds to disrobe a young girl, and uses his sword to cut off her . . . well, her feminine aspects, okay? There's also a few [love] references: Helen uses her womanhood to gain favors from government agents, and various small-time indications.

GOOD POINTS: The book is written from a Christian perspective, in case you haven't noticed yet. Daniel believes in God, and tries his best to follow Him. Each Stone he uncovers, however, teaches him something that he has somehow lost sight off, and helps him see his wrongdoing. There is a lot of material about the Muslim world versus the Christian world. In fact, for most of the book, it appears as if Myers "goes soft" on Muslims by indicating that they are men of devout faith, not entirely unlike believers in Christ. Perhaps, it appears, they are even more devout, as they strive to be holy more than Christians. The words "politically correct" come to mind. But all this is wrapped up very nicely in the end, really. It's just something to watch out for.

THOUGHTS:

Myers states in his introduction that he finished this book on September 11th, so you can tell as you go through it that it took some re-editing on his part to graft references to such events. Things like "ever since the victory of 9/11, the enemy had been bombing more frequently" and things like that.

The book is a good read for Christian fiction enthusiasts, but do watch out for the violent content.

Good Book - Enuff Said!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was the first one that I read by Bill Myers. After reading it, I immediately went out and got more. I don't know if any of the other books that I have finished so far have been quite as satisfying (although most were quite good). This one is a definite read, but if you are thinking of becoming a devotee, save this one for last.

Suspense, Spiritual Growth, and some Kicking Stones!
Early this morning--around 5 am--I finished reading THE FACE OF GOD, after letting it sit in one of my TBR piles for months. I'm sorry I waited so long! :)

What do we have in this Christian fiction thriller? A pastor who outwardly seems like the perfect servant of God, but who, through tragedy and visions, sees that he's lost his first love, not just the literal one--his wife, but the Biblical idea of what this means. This, and the possession of an unusual green gemstone with Hebraic inscription, sets off a chain of breathless events, some exhilirating and some tragic, that all lead our main character to experience transformation, find illumination (in more ways than one), and see the God whose face is...well, read the book. :)

The pace is unrelenting. You will not be bored. The characters include all three major monotheistic religions--Judaism, Islamic and Christian. The setting moves from the middle east to Europe to Africa to the US. It's all over the map, but not haphazardly. The story is totally focused on the external journey (finding the 12 stones of the Levitical high priest's breastplate, plus the Urim and Thummin) which parallels the internal journey (from legalism to satisfying relationship). The ending is realistic, with some matters satisfyingly closed, and others interestingly open-ended. Muslim characters are treated with respect--not simply painted as all malicious, wild-eyed, bomb-carrying killers. In this current tense environment, that alone gets Mr. Myers a thumbs up.

The first novel of Mr. Myers that I read, BLOOD OF HEAVEN, was exciting, but it didn't have the heart, the really moving moments, that THE FACE OF GOD provides. I felt my own moments of real conviction about my own legalistic tendencies while reading this book. Im now on my own journey to recapture my first love and see the face of the Beloved more clearly, and reflect it better. Thank you, Mr. Myers.

I recommend this book to all believers--and not just Christian ones. :)

Murky territory
As someone who is a Christian and has been involved in "the occult", I was impressed by this book. A lot of it is very accurate and shows why it's not a good idea for teenagers to be messing around with Ouija boards and the like. However, what concerns me is that the practitioners in the book, which are fairly clearly into black magick and all kinds of unethical things, are portrayed as examples of the garden-variety magickal teen. I realize that these series are didactic and meant to teach the doctrine that all involvement with the occult is wrong, but the negative portrayal in this book didn't match with my real-life experiences. There are plenty of people out there, who are practicing magic, that don't run in terror when a Christian enters the metaphysical store, and who definitely don't use magic capriciously or to hurt people. Also, most of the Pagan or New Age adults I've met would never let a bunch of teenagers meet in the back room unsupervised, and respect parents' rights to have a say in their child's religious instruction, meaning that they won't teach a teen without parental consent. That's more than most Christian groups do! There are two really different viewpoints at work here, and although I like this book, I object to how all the Christians are labeled as "good" and the occult practitioners are "evil" or at best misguided. I think that some Christian teens will use these books as a basis for persecution of their fellow teens with different religious beliefs. On the other hand, I think a lot of Christian teens will be very surprised when they come into contact with the many people out there who practice magic ethically, and this book will lose a lot of its scare value. Overall, it's a good warning about the dangers present in the occult, but I can't really recommend it to anyone who isn't already indoctrinated in conservative Christianity.

The Society
Forbidden Doors by bill myers is a wonderful book
about a girl named Rebecca and her brother Scott. they moved from
the rainforest to the u.s town Cresent Bay California. In their ne
life the encounter all sorts of stuff, like demons and other spirtual events. They must put their faith in god to survive in their new home.If you like excitement and suspense, then forbidden doors is for you.It is also part of a series of ten books of fun-filled adventure.I really liked this book because
it kept me on the edge of my chair and was one of the best books
I've read in a long time if you want a great book, then this is the book you want.I also feel this book is for everyone who is intersted in the spirtual world.

If you don't read this, Satan will eat your head.
If you or your children don't read this book, I'm absolutely sure that Masons, Satanists, Homosexuals, Witches, Vampires, Vegetarians, Baal-worshippers, Communists and those whose name is Legion will descend upon your home to eat your souls and rain death and malaise upon your entire neighbourhood.

It is absolutely vital that you line the coffers of Bill Myers and his publisher so that you can save your soul! There is no other way to the Father except through him!

This book is absolutely brilliant if you're incapable of producing an original thought, have recently suffered a severe blunt head trauma, or are a congenital moron.

Hilarious
Wally McDoogle gets into one scrape after another, always causing catastrophe after catastrophe. Now, he's been tricked into switching roles with one of his best friends, a girl named Wall Street. Unfortunately, during that period, a major football game takes place and the ballet "The Nutcracker" opens. Wally has to play Wall Street's part as the Sugar Plum Fairy, while Wall Street has to take his place in the football game.

Of course, numerous other major catastrophes occur as well, during those 72 hours.

One thing kept occurring to me. No matter what his sex is, if one is thrown into ballet or any other activity he is unfamiliar with, he will face a much harder time than someone who has practiced it for a long time. So if a boy doing ballet and a girl playing football switched places, they would both find it a lot harder.

There was a story in the story, a story Wally was writing about a superhero. I liked how Wally's superhero sometimes took on a life of its own, talking back to Wally and not doing what Wally wanted. I hear that real writers have that experience all the time.

In reading the well-known, oft-repeated dialog "Is too." "Is not." et al., I was reminded of the March of the Peers in "Iolanthe" by Gilbert and Sullivan. One faction of the peers (the tenors) shouted "Tan-tan-ta-ra!" while the other faction (the basses) countered with "Tsing boom!"

THE FUNNIEST BOOK EVER!!!
THIS BOOK IS ABOUT WALLY AND HIS FRIEND,WALL STREET.WALLY SAYS THAT IT'S HARDER BEING A GUY,BUT WALL STREET THINKS THE OPPISITE.THEN,ANOTHER MCDOOGLE MISHAP BEGINS!THIS BOOK IS VERY HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!

THE FUNNIES THING IN THE WORLD!
I read the book, My Life an a Blundering Balernina. If you didn't, then please do. It's so funny!
