You're going to love it!
Being a star struck fan myself, having taken many photos of my favorites, and having had the good fortune to have my photo taken with many of my favorite stars, many of whom are deceased, I found Gary's book fascinating. It brought back memories and having known Gary personally since 1975, I can vouch for the fact that he is a true, loyal and devoted fan. He and I spent countless hours waiting for favorites including Kate Hepburn when she appeared in Philadelphia theater. Having done so myself, I appreciate all the hours, pleasure and work that Gary put into compiling the photos which grace this book. Celebrity photography can be exciting but also tiring, especially the long hours spent waiting around. Sometimes the bitter winter weather can be a deterrent but even then the fun never goes out of it. So, if you are someone who appreciates the arts and deep down inside harbors dreams of becoming a famous actor, singer, dancer or musician, etc. but the closest you ever came to your dream was meeting the stars, this book is for you. Also, if you are starstruck but never had the time or geographical proximity to see the stars in person, this book is for you, too. Anyway, to all enjoy.

Inspirational!
Mr. Boas has taken entertainment history and captured it within the pages of this book. It is truly inspirational for those working towards a career in professional acting as well as the actors themselves. The photos contained within bring back memories for all, I recommend it to all looking to gain an insight into entertainments most viable celebrities, actors, hosts and models!!!

Fascinating nostalgic keepsake!!!
I must say that the moment I scanned this book, it took me down "hollywood memory lane"! This is the best collection of ready and unexpecting celebrity photographs by a average yet devoted fan.STARSTRUCK's photos which is (pre MTV) takes you back to a unreturnable and well missed era where hollywood and broadway stars were GLAMOUROUS and SOPHISTICATED! Being a disco diva and 70's fanatic,Starstruck turns back the hands of time when I read it!I've seen many photos of celebrities in Time,People magazine etc.. but Starstruck just has a personalized touch due to the fact that some stars were nice enough to pose with him or even smile for the camera.Very extinct qualities in most celebs today.Gary Boas gives you a blend of Tinseltown's best when they were younger or fresh on the scene. You have the broadway divas (Chita Rivera & Shirley McClain),comics(cast of Saturday Night Live,Redd Foxx,Milton Berle)the heartbreakers(Sean Connery,Billy Dee Williams)Studio 54 posse(Liza Minelli,Bianca Jagger,Halston) old hollywood(Marlene Dietrich,Greta Garbo)and many more.Being that I am a native New Yorker, I noticed that Gary also captured backgrounds and items of N.Y.C back in the late 60's thru 70's such as the old street signs in yellow, famous now torn down studios and old NYC transit buses. This collection is something that I would like to do but I do not have the time and patience especially with the spoiled, rude and sometimes violent celebs we have today! I have to give Gary Boas a lot of credit and thanks for creating this memorable colossal of Tinseltown's best!!!

Another Garland Book With a Slightly Different Angle
Rainbow: A Star-Studded Tribute to Judy Garland is a collection mostly consisting of magazine articles from the 1930s, '40s, '50s, '60s, and afterwards. There are a few other things, like MGM production notes for The Wizard of Oz, but it's almost all magazine excerpts, and it's interesting finding out just what the public's perception of her was, both before and after her death. Just don't go in looking for a deep character study.

it was an ok book
i liked the way other people had comments in there.but one thing is did they have to put the part were they think she is gay.and when they had the other people writting a story about her you sorta heard the same thing over.if anyone wants to talk just go ahead and e mail me

Raised on Judy! How did Rick McKay KNOW?!
This book is worth the price just for the chapter, "Raised on Judy, or What Chance Did a Boy Have." I have never seen Judy written about (and I have read a LOT) which such humor and compassion - especially what it was like growing up as a kid in the mid west during her years as a fading icon. Rick McKay's chapter is mah-velous. The rest of the book is quite good and a real Garlandophile's treat, but the McKay chapter could have been my life - or many of my friends' lives as well. It is a crime that this book is out of print. I would give it for Xmas every year!
