Must Read For Every Teen
Twelve Days in August is a book set in a small town in Vermont. Todd O'Conner is looking forward to the up coming school year unlike most people. He has soccer, his girlfriend Kai, and a car to drive. But trouble begins when twins Rita and Alex move to his small town from Los Angeles where Alex has had problems.Todd's world turns upside down when he finds him self having to make tough decisions along with taking bullying from teammate Randy Tovitch. Will Todd be ok, or will his problems defeat him?

A tension filled story with a happy ending
The story of Todd and Alex's friendship is one that many teens can relate too. Many times, teenagers are rumored to be something they are not, and this story portrays that in its rawest form. Not a story of homophobia, but a story of courage and compassion with a suprise ending. I highly reccomend this book to any teenager.

Outstanding! Doesn't hide anything.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Lisa is an excellent writer, and she depictly portrays the Parker's journey. What I especially like, is she doesn't treat us like kids, and says adult stuff. It really makes me feel appreciated, and it says that she thinks that we are mature. Compelling! You won't be able to put it down.

The Adventure From Independence to Yuba City; Love Story
This is an excellent book. You won't want to put it down. Fourteen-year-old Abigail Parker and her family set out on the adventurous trek towards Yuba City to find her loving father and join him in the west. Mr. Parker has caught the "gold fever" but finds California to be a wonderful place and invites his family to come join him. In the middle of a foggy night, Abby was up by herself only to turn around to a charming young man, Mathew Reed. He explains little but soon is welcomed into the wagon train to travel with the Parkers. As Abby gets to know Mathew better, she discovers that there was something very mysterious about him. Why does he keep disappearing? What is he hiding? I found myself wanting to find out the secret Mathew was hiding just as much as Abby.
This risky journey changed Abby for the better. She grows up at an incredible speed in a matter of six months in an endless prairie, burning desert, and the snowy, almost impossible to pass, Sierra Mountains. Will they survive? Will they defeat the wilderness? If you like adventurous love stories, this is a great book for you!

One of the best books ever!
This book made me feel as if I were walking along the wagon train with Abby and Matt. It's an adventure that you will want to read over and over again! Not only is it a great love story but it also describes the hard times of the gold rush. This book is very romantic and original and I would recommend it to anyone!

Fire in the Heart
This book had a lot of action then I don't know what happened near the end. It sort of fell off a cliff and hit rock bottom pretty fast. I would still recommened it to people who love the uspense of reading a good mystery novel, though. Also if your intrested in gold mining history this book touches on that subject also. All in all it was a good book.

Fire In the Heart
I really liked this book, it was an exciting book. It kept me interested in it. It's about a girl that tries to find out why her mother died. She goes all the way to Califonia to find out what happened to her. While she is there she finnaly meets the guy she had been writing letters to and talking to on the phone. Read the story to find out what else happens.

Not worth it...
Well, I found this book to be pretty boring, and it was kind of childish. It just lacks maturity. I don't care what others think, this is just my opinion. The story is okay, but it's written in such a simple style, not at all for young adults!!

Allergic to My Family
Allergic to My Family is about Rosie Maxwell and her family. Rosie Maxwell is the narrator and tells what it was like living in her house for six months. Rosie lives with her family in Copper Canyon, California. A big part of the book was about having a 6th child in her family. The 6th child turned out to be a baby sister, so they named her Clara Maxwell. Clara was born in June after they got out of school. Also her brother Silas talked for the first time after three years! He only talked because his twin sister (Katie) got left at the beach and he was afraid that he would never see her again. Her parents didn't even notice before Silas told them, because they were at the beach on a hot July day. Then in August Katie and Silas had a birthday party for their fourth birthday. They also had a surprise visitor coming, which turned out to be their grandmother. During the time that she was visiting, Rosie and her went to get Katie and Silas birthday presents. It turned out that the birthday presents were a big disaster! At their birthday party Katie and Silas had a neighbor's donkey come and give rides to the four year olds. But while Katie and Silas took their turns, the donkey took off and started to eat a lady's flowers. When the lady came out of her house, she got so made that the donkey stopped eating her flowers and decided to give Silas and Katie the rest of their ride. Boy, that was a disaster! Then near the end of the book there was a fire at their house and their Mom and Dad were not home. So, Rosie had to help her brothers and sisters get out of the house and then made them go to get the bags that had all of their stuff that they needed in case of a fire. But after Rosie assigned all of the jobs she looked up and saw that the roof was on fire. Rosie then crawled up the drainpipe onto the roof, got a hose and sprayed the roof until the fire was extinguished. When Rosie's Mom came home she saw what Rosie was doing and got so proud that she forgot that the house was on fire and paid all of her attention to Rosie. This book was so exciting that I fell off of my seat at the end! I gave the book five stars because it shows problems in the story that could happen to you and gives good ways to solve the problems. This book would be enjoyable for little kids that like to have little kids as characters in the story. But this book is also good for grown ups that like to know what they are doing wrong, like not paying enough attention to their kids. And it also highlights good things like congratulating your son or daughter when they do stuff right. That's why I gave this book five stars.

Good book
I'm 11, and I got Allergic to my Family when I was nine, i guess. I think it is really good, because it teaches you about family, but it's not for teens. It's for people probably 8-11, or 8-12. It's a really good book, though.
