The Possible Return of a Lost Resource
The Magic May Return is a collection of short fantasy stories based on a common theme. Each tale involves the concept that magic, once prevalent on Earth, has now become at best an extreme rarity, having been exhausted through use. However, each story also raises, in its own way, the possibility that the loss of magic may not be permanent (hence the collection's title). The only exception to this is "Not Long Before the End" which is set in the time before the magic was used up.

This is a delightful collection of stories which is sure to entertain.

Niven is brilliant, Alicia Austin's illustrations fabulous
ONCE THERE WAS MAGIC IN THE WORLD....Unlimited magic, enough magic for every wizard's son who ever wished to cast a spell. But the "mana;' the power that makes the magic and fuels the spells, is drying up, a natural resource wasted by centuries of careless and short-sighted magicians. In The Magic Goes Away master fantasist Larry Niven chronicled the end of an age, and the beginning of a new world where steel and muscle rule. In this eagerly awaited sequel, Larry Niven has invited Poul Anderson, Steve Barnes, Mildred Downey Broxon, Dean Ing and Fred Saberhagen into his world to tap the hidden reserves of mana and uncover the forgotten places of power. All is not lost. The magic may return. Illustrated by Hugo winner Alicia Austin.

Water Resources at your finger tips!
Larry W. Mays has written an outstanding text that provide students with a complete picture of water resources engineering by integrating the fundamental concepts of fluid mechanics, hydraulics, hydrology, and contaminant transport processes. The material in the text is presented from first principles, is rigorous, is relevant to the practice of water resources engineering, and is reinforced by detailed presetations of design applications. A text worth having next to vintage books on this subject in W-R engineers' library.

Disciple Making Teachers
Lots of good ideas and encouragment for teaching adult classes. Great for new teachers or old ones who want to brush-up their skills. Very Biblically oriented -- not just a new fad on teaching, but a good balance of true Biblical discipleship and fresh, up-to-date ideas. WORTH READING!!! I plan to keep my copy to refer back to it in the years ahead.

Are you an effective teacher?
Josh Hunt has done an excellent job with this book. Two very strong benefits the reader will glean from this book are 9 Types of Questions and what it means to Review in a Bible Study context. The benefits from understanding and applying these two sections of Hunt's work will be great and teachers will find they are becoming more effective in teaching the Bible.

good book
This is a great book on hydrology, the author is very famous in both hydrology and hydraulics area.

Excellent hydrology text
This is a well-written and fairly comprehensive textbook for the science and engineering of hydrology, suitable for undergraduate and graduate courses. I used it for a class taught by one of the authors (David Maidment), so it was a natural fit for the class, but I believe that any competent teacher could make good use of it. The example problems are useful and the explanations are clear.

EXCELLENT BOOK
A must have reference for those of you guys in the field of Applied Hydrology. If you are tackling the task of modeling some particular hydrologic process, you will find the detailed descriptions and flow charts very handy. Step by step derivations of equations, excellent referencing and convenient chapter setup makes this book a first-to-look reference. Although it is a 1988 print, you will hardly feel it unless you really dig into details like flow routing in meandering rivers.

I believe you will enjoy reading this book...

Groundwater Hydrology
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (2003)
Authors: David Keith Todd and Larry W. Mays
Amazon base price: $109.35
Average review score:

Groundwater Hydrology
This is a really good book covering a lot of the basics of groundwater hydrology. It covers occurrence, movement, well hydraulics, water wells, environmental influences, quality, and pollution, modeling subsurface investigations. A little outdated but can be used as a great complement to other more recent publications.

Essential Basic Reference
In spite of its age, this book continues to be an essential basic reference on the subject. Well organized and clearly written, the authors stated goal was "to present the fundamentals of groundwater hydrology in a manner understandable to [a wide variety of students and professionals]." If I were suddenly called to work in a foreign country and could only take one book, this would be the one. A slight drawback is the use of metric units throughout, perhaps because the book was expected to be translated into a number of foreign languages. This is the completely rewritten second edition of the original edition published in 1959. The first edition of this book was probably the first fundamental textbook on the subject. Basic information or equations that are not in Todd, usually can be found in "Groundwater" by Freeze and Cherry (John Cherry was a student of Todd's).

film history
The book is great for understanding why film became popular. It incorporates the history of film with the general history of America, specifically during the turn of the century. The one problem that I had with the book was how repetetive it was. All in all I felt like I learned a lot.

historical account of the motion picture industry
good, but too detailed. lost in the minute details at times and loose focus on the "big picture."

Water Distribution Systems Analysis Made Easy!
Larry W. Mays has yet again done a magnificent job in compiling what seems to be the first handbook in the market that identifies the works done by practitioners and researchers in the field to enhance the applicability of theory to real life systems. The handbook compiles outstanding chapters written by authors in the forefront of the industry and academic institutions. From simple hydraulic analysis of a distribution network to the treatment of more theoretically involved and unquestionably important aspects of rehabilitation/reliability of the exixting systems, the handbook excels in drawing the readers' attention. The contributions by researchers, graduate students and industry affiliates makes this a handbook to keep!
