Superb!
There are a few picture books out about Mary Anning! All of them are good, but this is THE ONE to read to younger kids! The illustrations are vibrant and colorful. The story is punchy and fun! Kids will be amazed by the story of a young girl who gets struck by lightning as an infant, survives, and as a child finds the fossil of one of the world's largest dinosaurs! It's all true! There's even a dog companion! Buy it and read it to your kids, they won't soon forget it!

The most moving children's book I've read in ten years
I can't remember a more beautifully written children's book since my children were born. The way the story was told was so simple and yet so powerful, I have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone with children. I read it to my 3 and 5 year old girls and they ask for it every night. Simply beautiful.

Book Review

Sheila Moxley's An Alphabet Book of Cats and Dogs appeals to the eye while it educates the reader. The book illustrates the letters of the alphabet in such a way that a child can effortlessly construct sentences using all of the different letters. The author's use of unusual words and sentences for each of these letters seeks to expand the child's vocabulary. Moxley's captions under the cat and dog illustrations not only explain the picture, but are also constructed with alliteration. Sentences like 'Arnold is an amazing aviator,' for example, allow the reader to connect with the characters. Rather than using the universal phrase 'A for Apple,' Sheila Moxley adds amazing twists to her sentences that give the book a totally new feel.
Also the illustrator of the book, Sheila Moxley combines real photos and colorful art in this picture book. She uses no computer-generated images but instead, just old-fashioned cut and paste techniques with a little painting to create a collage. . The adorable dogs and cats possess human qualities (one holds an umbrella; another ice-skates), which is sure to make readers laugh. The book's brilliantly colored paintings, funny captions, and playful illustrations not only entertain but help the reader learn the letters of the English alphabet.

Adorable book
This is an adorable book of Christmas stories from around the world, five stories in all from diverse cultures. The illustrations are very colorful and primitive in style. I would recommend this book for ages 5-10. I bought it for our Lutheran church library, and am glad I did.

An interesting book to add to your children's shelf.
I bought this book to get a more worldly view of nursery rhymes. I wanted to read some of the rhymes that are told to children in other countries, and wanted to expose my future kids to other cultures.

The book does all of this with over 30 rhymes from various countries around the world. Some of the rhymes don't really rhyme as that was lost in translation, but it's still fun to see what is told to children in that country.

Each page is a colorful bonanza of illustrations to accompany the rhyme.

It's sure to keep your child's attention on the page as you read the rhymes.

I recommend this book to anyone wanting to inject a bit of worldly culture into their child's reading time.
