In the spirit of "Dead poet society" or "Matrix"
Many thanks, Mr Morris, for this remarkable book. I consider it to be in the spirit of "Dead poet society", as far as teacher/students relationships are concerned. But it goes infinitely deeper as far as the teaching is concerned. It helps readers reconsider their thinking, their beliefs, their values. It helps them come out of the social "Matrix". French philosopher Pascal said : "Misfortune to the man who, at least once in his life, did not question everything." Mr Morris helps his students and readers to start this kind of questioning.

Great book about "waking up"
A great introduction to Sufism, and the concepts that Gurdjieff and Ouspenksy (not sure of my spelling there) explored. I really enjoyed all the stories and concepts of waking up, or the exoteric versus the esoteric. The book really helped me "wake up" a little more. And, the fact that is has a storyline, and is filled with small stories, makes it easy to stay with. Highly recommended.

Stirring and amusing. A one sit read
Your book reads so well, it's so stirring and so amusing that I had to make an effort not to read it at one sitting...You cut, however, through so many layers of conventionality, that I ask myself: Are they going to make him drink the hemlock?

Good Book
Good book...but the other review is wrong..it did not start in New York, but New Hampshire.
I recommend this book to anyone. It's great!

When Morris says, "Take a hike," he means it.
Morris had a spat with his wife and to punish her he insisted that she not pick him up from work. He would walk home, about 15 miles. In that brief walk he had an epiphany. The next day he asked his students which would teach them more, a semester in class or a semester walking. Unanimously they voted for walking. Morris rounded up some money and 18 months later took his class for a walk, from upstate New York to Nova Scotia.

Experimenting with various walking styles, supported by an old van for lunch and equipment transport, Morris and a dozen students, his wife and two of his kids took a trip out of New York state and into their minds.

If you liked Peter Jenkins or if you are just wondering what the US is all about, explore a small part of it with Morris and his class. You will read this awe inspiring book over and over again.

Required reading for all Spiritual Assembly members!
This book is deceptively simple; you can easily read it cover to cover in just a couple hours. It covers all the key concepts necessary for a spiritual assembly to become truly effective and states them so simply and clearly that any reader can grasp the concepts immediately.

Rather than a boring training manual, "Helping Joe Strong" is presented as a story. Joe Strong is a member of a local assembly that is having difficulty. Over a period of time he visits with various members of a neighboring LSA which has proven its effectiveness. They share their secrets for success, one after another. By the end of the story Joe Strong has taken all this information back to his own assembly and they have become effective.

This book provides a model of how an assembly can become truly effective by showing techniques in planning and organizing, forming committees, handling personal issues, and much much more.

Our assembly is currently in the process of working through the book and implementing many of the suggestions. This book should be required reading for all assembly members everywhere. If you're a member of a local assembly or may become one someday, this book is a must read!

A Great Look into the Original Women of Stage and Screen!
I never realized that Mae West was the original Madonna! This book gives great insight into glamorous women like Josephine Baker and Carmen Miranda, but it also gives excellent historial and cultural insight as well. The section on Mae ended a little too quickly, but the rest of the book gives great understanding into what makes a star a star. Anyone who thinks they're going to be the next Jennifer Lopez should read this book to see what the women before her went through to make it possible for women today to be successful. This is a fun, quick read not to be missed.

Original Divas rocks!
Great book! My daughter loved this book and can't wait for more in the series. She was blown away by the divas' accomplishments off the stage/screen. She is inspired and has a new appreciation for being a (soon to be) young woman. The prose is direct, colorful, and appropriate for a wide ranging audience age. I personally liked the voice of the writer, and my daughter won't stop talking about her new hero, Josephine Baker!
