Easy to read, extensive notes
Bonus points for the larger type, easier to read than a lot of other bibles. Extensive notes that defend the accuracy and infallibilty of the Bible. A must have for anyone who is serious about studying the Authorized version of the Word of God.

The Best study Bible available
The Defenders Study Bible by Dr. Henry Morris is THE BEST Bible I have ever owned. I have been a Christian for most of my life and I own several different study Bibles but they all pale in comparison. Why? Because they compromise the word of God. In most of my other study Bibles, they make you doubt Gods word, especially in regarding the creation in Genesis by adding that the creation could have occurred over a longer period of time.

Dr. Morris verifies the six day creation with other bible verses. He doesn't rely on his beliefs, he relies on other scriptures for verification. The Lord would not need longer periods of time to create the world because he did it right the first time and does not need more time to let things "correct" themselves. He is a perfect God and he created a perfect world in six days. Why would God say six days when he meant something else? This is where faith plays a vital role in reading and interpreting the scriptures. You either believe God means exactly what he says or you don't. Satan compromised the word of God to Eve and look what happened. God means exactly what he says. Exactly.

Another plus is the scientific analysis of creation and the great flood. He describes using other scripture how the flood occured and the effects of the flood on the world scientifically. It really strengthens Gods word.

Having this Bible in the King James Version is comforting also because it is as close to the original Hebrew and Greek text as we can get. There is no interpretations. I compare verses from this Bible to my other Bibles and the changes are dramatic and sometimes entirely different. To me this can be dangerous.

In Job, some of my Bibles change the words Behemoth to Hippo or elephant and Leviathan to Alligator..... Now I have never seen a hippo or an elephant with a tail the size of a ceder tree, and I have never seen an alligator have smoke and fire come out of his mouth and nostrils.

I recommend this Bible and all of Dr. Morris' other books to all Christians, both new and old.

Unique, and one of a kind study tool
I have been using this Bible for 4 years for reference and study. Dr. Morris' notes have been a blessing through the years, especially the extensive notes in Genesis and the entire New Testament. This is the best specialty study Bible out there and I would recommend every Evangelical or Fundamentalist Christian who cares about the Bible, it's truths, and proofs for its truth add Dr. Morris'lifetime of passion for God and His Word to their study library.Plus it gets bonus points for only being available in the King James Bible. Dr. Morris is again consistent in his beliefs.

Old but Readable Introduction to the Fallacies of Evolution
Although this book has now been superceded by more recent scientific creationist scholarship, this small book provides a good introduction to this topic. It is not overly technical.

I couldn't put it down. It really makes you think.
We all know of the dragging argument over creation/evolution but this book really put it in perspective for me. By the time I was done with the first chapter, I just couldn't put it down. Although some of the scientific talk I had to read over a couple times, it was still easy to follow. It really made me think about things. The good part about this book was how Morris made things so easy to understand. He found so much proof against evolution that I was nothing short of amazed. If I was involved in a creation/evolution argument, this book would be the first book that I would grab for referance. It is an excellent book and very well written. It answers so many questions. I recommend it highly and only wish I had read it back in high school.

Henry Morris credibly reveals Solomon
Henry Morris, founder of Institute for Creation Research, is amply qualified to comment on any portion of the Bible, and his commentary on Solomon is a real treat. The wisest and richest man who ever lived is recorded in God's Word as explaining the "vanity" of pursuits beyond what God has called us to do. It is a book which every parent should read, to put perspective on what values, exactly, they should be conveying to their children. It is a book for those without children to reinforce the direction in their lives, as they try to reach those who may not have a close relationship with God. Finally, it is a book for anyone who is yearning to make their relationship with God a closer one.

This book is so profound and thought-provoking that I could only read a portion of a chapter at a time. Morris breaks down groups of verses to be commented upon, and in each section there is ample food for thought to keep one's mind and heart busy for an evening.

Enjoy turning the pages slowly in this treasure of a book.

Excellent Study Bible
Henry Morris has never been one to shy away from controversial issues, and that is reflected in the footnotes he penned in this study Bible. He has comments on passages that others often totally ignore in their editions. He frequently challenges the conventional interpretation of difficult passages (for example, his identification of the rider of the white horse in Revelation 6:2 as Jesus Christ, rather than Anti-Christ.)

Morris' notes are clearly based on the literal hermeneutic: that is, dispensationalism. In addition, he is unabashedly baptistic when it comes to church polity. And of course, he is definitely a young-earth creationist. If you are unwilling to accept this sort of perspective on the Scripture, you should probably look at a different study Bible.

Morris gives a clear and concise defense of his choice of the Authorized Version as the text. His defense indicates that he is in the mainstream of the Majority Text/Textus Receptus camp. He is *not* KJV-only.

The text provided Word does have certain shortcomings. The italics for words which are implied but not stated in the original languages are missing from this text. In addition, the concordance is essentially worthless. If you are away from home and don't have access to your Strong's or Cruden's concordances, trying to use the concordance is very frustrating.

This Bible is now my primary study Bible. It doesn't replace my Scofields (original and new editions) nor my Thompson Chain Reference Bible, but I do find it refreshing to read and study from.

An Essential Tool For The Evangelical Believer
This Bible is an amazing source of information about the Bible, science, and the creation that God made and said was good. I use this as a reference tool for almost all the books in the Bible. The commentary on Genesis and Revelation are worth the cost of the book alone. The rest of the New Testament commentary is truly edifying for the hungry believer. Buy it, use it, treasure it as a faithful commentary and presentation of God's Word to his church in these last days.

Morris Scores Again
Henry M. Morris, a foremost Bible scholar, scientist, and scholar, has produced yet another great volume filled with Biblical truths that all Christians should read.

Dr. Morris's views on the validity of literal Bible interpretation and the infallibility of the Bible are represented eloquently throughout the more than 6000 annotations in the Defender's Study Bible. He strives to explain difficult passages in a clear and concise manner. He refuses to compromise in order to maintain the authority of true Biblical Christianity and doctrine. He applies what the Bible says to modern life, constantly comparing numerous things in the Bible to their contemporary equivalents.

One of the greatest aspects of this study Bible is its clear views on controversial matters. Where other study Bibles and other commentators will take a neutral stance, Morris presents what he believes to be the truth--what he feels the authors meant by what they said--and compassionately, lovingly, tactfully, and thoroughly defends his belief while presenting and disproving those of others.

Morris himself wrote in his introduction that the Defender's Study Bible follows a literal approach to the Bible. He says, "Based on this literal and contextual approach, the notes become what one might call Baptistic in ecclesiology, pre-millennial in eschatology, non-charismatic in pneumatology and moderately Calvinistic in soteriology." While no attempt is made in his notes to formulate formal doctrines, they do support the above-mentioned ones.

Also of interest is the eighteen appendices at the back of this Bible covering the scientific evidences proving the Bible and evolution vs. creation.

If you are interested in what the Word of God truly says, the Defender's Study Bible is for you. I highly recommend it.

Great Introductory Material -- An Encouragement
During this time period where many non-Christians believe thatscience has few roots in Christian belief, this is the book to read for introductory purposes. As the book moves through several names and backgrounds, one discovers the truth that, in fact, many scientists and mathematicians -- even founders of some important scientific fields -- were actually Christian believers. The mask is unveiled, and is entertaining, interesting, and encouraging for Christians and even non-Christians.

However, for those who actually want in-depth studies of the minds of people like Francis Bacon, Isaac Newton and Jonathan Edwards, please look elsewhere. These people are amazing Christian men that did not get justice by just a page to their name and testimonies. I felt disappointed with the lack of depth. I guess the depth was traded with one of the high points of the book -- an amazing, broad list of highly influential scientists that did not or would not believe in evolution, and things to know about them.

Therefore, I think the purpose of the book was mostly to take aim and fire into the argument that evolution has been supported (and will always be) by the more educated and influential scientists. This is a great book to take care of that argument and throw it in the trash, truly. This also is a good read for the day (the book is quite short)... however, it is not a must read, especially if you're a college student looking for much detail to memorize and retain.

Great Homeschool resource for science. Elem to middle school
Easy to read. Covers facts about the work, discoveries, and personalities of many very famous historical figures of science who were believers in God.

Often unique insight to a tough subject
This book has a fairly unique slant on the book of Revelation. It is pre-tribulational and pre-millenialist. The frequent references to science give him insights into passages that others (even with a similar theologic slant) don't always get.
In truth it is sufficiently 'unique' that I would not recommend it as your only Revelation commentary (probably the Revelation book published by Ritchie would get that position) but it is extremely useful as a second or third book of a set. I am doing a series of addresses on Revelation and have used it frequently.

An amazing literal translation by a gifted scientist
I have read Dr. Morris' Revelation Record three times. Most of the mysyeries that have surrounded the book of Revelation have been explained in this most literal interpretation. As a creation scientist Dr. Morris' unique gifts have made The Revelation Record sobering but exciting. The revelation to me is the loving kindness of God in His grace as His wrath is poured out, His continual reaching out to those who don,t believe. It is indeed a blessing to read this book and gives the reader a factual hope in God for the future.

Awesome - in the biblical sense
This book is great. It's great if you want to completely confrom to what's expected for you to do just because someone told you God wants you to do it. It's great if you believe a higher, supernatural power watches every step you take and actually cares what you do. It's also great for mimes, you can make some damn funny impersonations too.

A Good Overall Answer Book
Do you have questions about such things as the Bible and science, theological issues, practical living, etc., but are afraid of scientific jargon or arcane theology? Then this book is for you. Every question has a self-contained answer.

Excellent Resource!
Very Biblically-based. Good answers to common questions. I've handed out 5 and am back for more!

Biblical Creation attempts to be a science
Morris believes that the Bible can be scientifically proven. This is impossible, since the Bible is a religious text. It is an interesting read, but keep in mind that Morris uses bad science and fallacy after fallacy to make his religion look scientific.

Excellent Christian science book
This is an excellent science book that explains in easy to understand english how the amazing miracles such as creation, the flood, etc. according to a biblical perspective. Henry Morris provides many biblical references and a lot of proof. I was a Christian before reading this book, and already beleived that God created the earth and sent his son to die on the cross. However, for someone who has doubts of how creation, the flood, etc. are possible, I would highly recommend this book.

Takes a look at science from a biblical perspective!
This is an excellent book. Dr. Henry Morris is a Christian scientist. In this book he looks at several different aspects of science from a Christian perspective. I highly recommend this book.

Never underestimate the power of denial
It is unfortunate that these men feel the need to dilute themselves into believing that they can lay down a foundation for scientific creationism. First of all, science could never validate creationism because it is based on religous scripture that deals with intangible things (walking of water, miraculous cures, stopping the sun, and other things which defy science)

How can this science deny such fundamental discoveries like; radioactive dating, doppler effect (supporting the big bang), evolution by natural selection, and punctuated equilibrium. These are fundamental tenets to science and give us an accurate potrayal of our world. It baffles me to think that people will go to epic links to belch forth their brand of ignorant and intolerent "science". I would like to propose this scenerio.... had the bible never been written and all we had to go on was man's instincts and intelligence, what conclusion would we come to independent of religous belief. If there was no "moral" scripture to guide/control our thoughts, how would our view of earth's history be changed. Would we have evolution vs. creationism debates? We have to ask ourselves if our religous fervor is controlling our rational minds. Are these people so afraid of a life without biblical fanaticism that they will intentionally put out falsified information. It is books like this that make me believe that god is most certainly indifferent to our plight on earth, otherwise he wouldn't put such self-righteous, sanctimonious zealots here on earth to pollute our minds. Science is the answer, because it has no bias, if there was proof of god and the hand he/she played in our creation science would be the first to admit it. The evidence doesn't suggest the fairy tale these "writers" would have us believe.

This Book Started the Modern Scientific Creationist Movement
A classic! Friends and foes of Biblical truth both agree that this seminal book was largely responsible for triggering the modern revival of interest in creationism.

Even though most of its scientific content has been superceded by more recent creation science, it still provides a useful framework for understanding Flood Geology. The theological portion of this book is invaluable for showing the incorrectness of compromising evangelicals who try to twist Scripture to make it fit a local flood instead of the indisputably global Noachian Deluge. A must read!

Impressive
Had you asked me a year ago, I would have said that the Biblical story of Noah could not possibly be taken literally. Now I have been forced to reconsider my position.

The authors did what I have never seen or heard before: used the scientific evidence rather than ignoring it. One question I would like to pose for the casual reader: how is it possible we have massive fossil deposits of extinct animals (dinosaurs, et cetera) from millions of years ago, yet no fossil deposits of modern animals? That is a question that made me wonder why I hadn't heard it before.

Despite the statements of some reviewers, who based on their reviews didn't seem to have read the book in depth, the authors do use scientific evidence to back up their position. It isn't the usual assertion that we must believe the Bible because the Bible says so.

I would recommend this book to everyone; and I plan to present these arguments to geologists and challenge them to refute them.

Of course, you should read this for yourself before you decide.

One star - despite many valid points
Henry Morris makes a number of valid points in this book - but then again, Jack T. Chick makes a lot of valid points in his viotrolic fundamentalist cartoon tracks. The real question is: is it worthwhile to shift the wheat from the chaffe in Morris's work?

The answer is no. Henry Morris's "flood geology" or "young earth creationism" has been rejected by every - read that again, literally - EVERY Christian who has seriously studied science with an open mind. (If you think that I - a card-carrying, evangelical Southern Baptist - am implying that all young earth creationists are deluded, YOU'RE RIGHT!) The Biblical evidence and the scientific evidence simply isn't there to support the assertion that the earth is merely 6,000 years old. If Morris had simply made a mistake in handling the Word, he could be forgiven. But Morris has been a vociferious advocate of the Young Earth position for more than 50 years! He continues to use arguments, such as the moon's dust or the earth's magnetic field, that sound good to laypeople, but which have been definitively rebuked by scientists. This is BEARING FALSE WITNESS, people! To make matters worse, Morris and his disciples have been at the forefront of slandering true scientists with a heart for God (e.g., Hugh Ross, who has probably endured more unjust slander from so-called "Christians" than any man since Luther).

Morris has good points to make about evolution, but none about the age of the earth. Consider this: Darwinian evolution is such a sham that even growing numbers of non-Christian scientists from every discipline from biochemistry to neuroscience (e.g., Michael Behe, Robert Jastrow, John Polkinghorne, and Jeffrey M. Schwartz) have denied Darwinism's validity. But NO SCIENTIST, NONE, EVER has EVER EVER EVER EVER disputed the ancient age of the earth based on scientific data alone. And if the Bible is so clear that the earth is 6,000 years old, why do so many arch-conservative Christian leaders (e.g., Norman Geisler, James Dobson, Gleason Archer, Chuck Colson, to name but a few) believe that the earth is old?

Morris is bad news. The good things he has to say are overwhelmed by the falsehoods and misconceptions.

Disappointed...and growing...
Morris' book is arranged in a reverse chronology, discussing the role/effects of evolutionary thought from the present into the past. Morris does make some good points, and at least presents some of the currently fashionable ideas in the world. The book is fairly well-documented and reasonably thorough, but has some problems. Having read a fair amount of modern creation literature over the past year, I've noticed that the key arguments in favor of the position tend to be trumpeted ad nauseum. That is not to say they're wrong, but personally, I'm suspicious of anything recited in a manner resembling a slogan. I say all this because the many contra-evolution arguments made by Morris are approaching slogan status. He's not alone, because many proponents of evolution state their views in a similar manner. The problem in both cases, is that the points of issue become analyzed and discussed in a decreasingly thorough and critical way. The result is an "I'm right...no, I'M right..." dialogue that is both wearisome and unhelpful. At any rate, here are my problems with the book: #1 (closely related to my previous point) The scientific points interspersed within the book are stated in a very "now of course you know this as obvious" manner. As I discussed earlier, this isn't helpful. These points must be covered in more depth. If the publisher won't allow another 100 pages, then don't publish it. #2 Despite the thoroughness with which Morris discusses the more recent socio-political roles of evolutionary thought, the book becomes progressively more speculative. The further into the past Morris travels, the more elucidation of brain children we find. We all speculate. We take things for granted and make assumptions all the time, rarely giving them much thought. However, speculating on the quality of hamburger McDonald's is going to sell you is a far cry from speculating on the primeval, Satanic conjuration of the idea of evolution. This leads right to #3...In addition to Morris' speculation noted above, he has a certain fondness for numerology and the "gospel in the stars" idea. Biblical support for these ideas is ambiguous at best (fully lacking at worst), yielding interpretation that's inconclusive. More recently, I've been getting my feet wet in genuine biblical scholarship: original languages, literary-cultural-historical context, etc. Though a profound neophyte in this area, I've become very suspicious of SOME, not all, of the exegesis performed by the writers of creation literature. What biblical research is performed by these writers seems very narrow, focusing almost solely on creation support. That borders on eisegesis, i.e. reading INTO the text your own ideas. This is not to suggest the bible doesn't indicate creation. That actually IS fairly obvious. However, there appears to be a tendency to strengthen the creation argument by seeking to impose creationary support on biblical passages that have nothing to do with creation. The bible is a collection of 66 books written (**with a specific intent**) by many men over many miles over many years, and within many literary, cultural, and historical contexts. In light of that, the interpretational method employed by many of the creation writers is highly questionable. Are they wrong? I don't know (yet - smile), but given the magnitude of the bible's implications (if true), surely greater care in it's study is warranted. Morris is almost deified in some Christian/creation circles. Though his prolonged vocal stance on this issue is admirable, I've grown to mistrust him. To Morris' disciples who may be preparing an effigy for me now - I'm being honest, and as fair as possible. The truth is no small matter, and that's what I seek. This book is not recommended.

A Very Trustworthy Book
Creationism is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. To be Christian you cannot at all be an evolutionist, despite what some people say. To say that you are a Christian and a believer in evolution is to just spit in the face of Christ as He was crucified and as He rose from the dead. To say that you are a Christian and a believer in evolution is to spit in the face of God the Father, Son, Holy Ghost because you are believing in something that says there is no need for salvation, that there is no personal relationship with God from the beginning. You cannot be both, like a man riding on two horses...one foot on each...sooner or later you will have to choose which horse you'll ride on...and usually believers in evolution and Christianity usually turn into unbelievers in the end...

Time and time again, Creationism shows that the apostles behind evolution created this "scientific religion of evolution" to try to destroy Christianity. These apostles of evolution themselves say there is no firm facts or reliability behind evolution, but they cannot believe in creationism because...for one thing...that means they would have to face their sins before the judgment of the holy loving God.

Henry Morris' book shows the terrible impact and war between the truth of Creationism and the satanic lies of evolution. The more Christians don't stand up to the evils of the world (like evolutionists) the less holiness and love and hope in the world. I directly blame the taking away of Christianity's morality and truths in our governments, in our schools, to school shootings date rapes and drugs in our children's hands.

Like Henry Morris' book shows, we as Christians must stand up to the evils of the world, fight back with Christian facts and truths. It is all a part of the great commision the Lord Jesus gave to us who believes that He and only He (as the Son of God the Creator, the Sustainer, and the Soulwinner) is the way, the truth, and the light.
