It's a message that in particular, we as Amercians, after the "events of September 11" - now and in the present - need to hear, listen and LEARN. This review was so thoughtful, comprehensive and detailed that I can't wait to get the book and read it "through and through." The "reader from Yellow River" made the money sound more than worth it, and I'm sure it will be!

"What price peace?"

What price is peace worth? "It's worth it's weight in gold."

The question is, "how do we achieve this?"

I hope the answer (or part of "the answer") can be found in this book. Will let you know what I learn.

The book was recommended to me by a friend who stumbled across it while going through a very difficult time in his life -- he felt smack up against an uncrossable sea with an enemy in pursuit. God used the book to remind him of God's sovereignty and power in that situation. The life threatening situation became a life-changing opportunity. The same has now happened for me.

And all that in this tiny, easily digestible book. Awesome!

It could hardly be better stated that body, head and heart must be up to the game of both making and perceiving art. Like Jed Perl's "Eyewitness", this book asks for a more personal art and art world, where the invisible threads of theoreticians no longer bind imagination, where art is done for kicks.

A sticky discussion of meta-critics (almost, but not quite, art philosophers) ends with the hope that criticism can help the quality of art by intervening between art and market/fashion manipulation. Morgan's guess for the future of art is more kitsch, but hopefully revealing rather than reinforcing market culture.

Pay particular attention to "Releve", the story contributed by Patricia Wallace and her daughter. This story introduces us to Sydney Bryant, the private eye that Pat Wallace has featured in a terrific series for adults. The titles in the series include "Deadly Devotion" and "Blood Lies".

Other outstanding stories include those by Wendy Hornsby, Scott Turow, Stuart Kaminsky, and Sharyn McCrumb (and their collaborators). This is a book that parents can read and enjoy with their children. It might inspire them to collaborate on some mystery stories of their own!

The only mystery, the only secret, the only crime is how this anthology could be so easily overlooked. "Great Writers and Kids Write Mystery Stories" (1996) is a collection of stories written by some of today's greatest mystery authors in collaboration with their children and grandchildren. Jonathan Kellerman, Sharyn McCrumb, and Scott Turow are three of the thirteen award-winning writers that create wonderous whodunits with their offspring, ages 6 to adult.

While written at about the junior high/ middle school level, this complilation is enjoyable to all. The stories are five to several pages. Some are written with the child as the amateur detective, some are written as a type of psychological thriller.

The introduction serves as a "mini-lesson" on mystery writing. And, each story features a short personal introduction by the adult and child writing team on what it was like to collaborate on their included story. Other contributors include Barbara D'Amato, Ed Gorman, Stuart Kaminsky, Elizabeth Engstrom, and many others.

This book has the unique ability to be educational as well as entertaining. Those that enjoy this book may also enjoy the first volume as well: "Great Writers and Kids Write Spooky Stories" (1995).

First, this book illustrates rather convincingly, how investing just a moderate amount of money consistently over a period of time, can build personal wealth beyond most people's highest expectations. Makes it clear that there are no "guaranteed, get rich quick approaches" but that by being patient and investing in any of a broad range of solid investments...."financial serenity" is definitely within reach.

Then, this book explains the basics of personal financial management; including life insurance, real estate, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, REITs, futures, annuities, 401k plans, IRAs and tips to help determine which is right for you. This explanation of the basics, provides a framework which can be used to help individuals determine which investment vehicles fit their personal financial profile/style, and how they can take the first steps in building a personal financial plan which can secure their future.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in improving their financial position in life. It is written by one of the world's leading financial management experts in terms that anyone, from any walk of life/profession can easily understand.

I always wondered about the stories I would occasionally hear of an abusive meglomaniac, rather than a motivational messiah. The disciples on the testimonial videos seemed a little too robotic and rehearsed. So-called top producers closed offices and dropped out of sight.

Now comes the peek under Equinox's skirts provided by Rob Styler. When I go back to the old testimonial videos and see Rob spouting the company line, I almost feel sorry for him.

The book is great - a real page turner! A MUST for any fan of MLM.

I think it is a must read for anyone who grew up in the 50's, 60's, or 70's with a brother(s) and or sister(s) right around the same age. You get an idea of just how simple life was for you and your sibling while at the same time, just how serious it was.

It was obvious to me that the author really put emotion into each page, and you could feel his emotions right with him as you read. It's the type of book that I did not want it to end. After reading it, there will be a number of people mentioned and described in the book that you will wish you had the opportunity to meet.

He tells how war changed his life and talks about the treatment the soldiers faced after the war. Finally, he describes the ghosts he chased and drowned in drink trying to forget. And, he sadly chronicles the near fate of the Memphis Belle and how the US nearly relegated the plane to the scrap heap.

Just an incredible book. I highly recommend it.
