outstanding Piece of work
This book is one of the best I have ever read. It will keep you hooked all the way through. The best part was taking truth and turning it into something very exciting. This is coming from someone who doesn't like to read. Brain Boru Fought his way from nothing to high king gathering loyal followers form all parts of Ireland. Quit wasting time reading this and find a copy of the book.

A wonderful book that brings you back 1000 years in history.
Another wonderful book by Morgan Llywellyn.

This is a historically accurate novel that keeps you glued until the very end. I found myself transported to a time of medieval towns and kings. Brian Boru had me rooting for the Irish from start to finish!

History with Panache
A real page burner, get away from those dusty tomes and read what a real writer has done with history. Take the skeleton from the archives of librarys with stuffy stated details add flesh, and personna with accurate research and voila, you have an outstanding, interesting, and highly readable piece of literature that should be required reading in the halls of Academia....

MG Pattons command at Ft Hood is very accurate. I was there
I served in the 2nd Armored Division during MG Patton's tenure. He was an inspiration to many of us. The stories are true and very accurate. I am sure there are a few more that are not in the book! BB

Fine account of the famous warrior family.
The Generals Patton, father and son, served their country for 79 years, altogether, in careers unsurpassed by any other American military family. General George S. Patton Jr's life, in particular, has been examined microscopically, but the section of this work which recounts his career is enhanced by comments, for the first time, by his son and daughter.
That alone would make the book worthwhile, but the bulk of the work tells the story of Major General George S. Patton (1923 - ), himself a fine fighting general and one of the best trained officers ever to wear the uniform. Like his father, he was a scholar of his trade who understood that skillful audacity accomplishes the mission with minimal casualties.
Very readable, with invaluable comments by Major General Patton interspersed; photos, bibliography, and index. Highly recommended.

This book is something that will truely astound you
Morgan is descriptive, historacly accurate, tuning this book into it's fine detail. It really makes you feel like you are part of the action, you cheer when Brian conquers and cry with all his suffering and loss. You get to know the main characters, and sence Ireland and the way it was when Boru reigned.

A must-read for all Irish and Irish wannabes
Absolutely incredible is how I would describe this book. Morgan Llywelyn's descriptions of Brian Boru and life in his camp bring the subject alive. It was like being there! You HAVE to read this book!

Extremely entertaining read
If you enjoy dry humor, this book will have you in stitches. The first time that I read it, I had to put the book down - often - because I was laughing so hard.

It would be very difficult to explain this book, it's just something you have to read for yourself. The diary includes photocopies of letters Petty receives in reply to his letters asking for assistance from various government, military and private agencies. The replies seem legit - the correspondance isn't fictional - and are sometimes as funny as Petty's musings.

I've included a couple of excerpts from the diary to help the interested reader get a feel.

[Petty communicates his intentions to the authorities ...]

Wednesday, 23 February

The big day. I have posted off a letter to Mr Andropov, the Soviet leader, explaining my decision to declare my house and garden a Nuclear Free Zone and enclosing a diagram. The zone runs from the shiplap fencing in the east, along the fence, up past the greenhouse and fishpond to the pavement in the west. The pavement isn't actually mine but I have included it in the zone because, although it belongs to the council, it would be a bit difficult to get around the back of the house if it were destroyed in a thermonuclear exchange.

[Oh, there's more - so much more. Much later in the book (entries are made in the diary almost daily) Petty is trying to figure out ways to protect his home from a nuclear exchange.]

Tuesday, 19 April

A disappointing letter from the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Aldermaston, about converting our microwave oven into a missile deflector. They say they are unable to give any assurance that it would be effective. If they can't give any assurance, who can? Still, I shall let Roger loose with the screwdriver; we don't use the oven much anyway, and it will soon be the season for salad.

[I wish I could include more excerpts. This book is a gem.]

Ken Bresalauer has been covering NASCAR and its memorabilia for more than 25 years, and in this book he gives readers the best of his experience. Furthermore, the photos are great - large, sharp and pertinent to the collectibles discussed. Beautiful book for the golfer & golf fan
This deluxe volume covers each of the courses on the PGA Tour and has several full color pictures of key holes on each course covered. Since some PGA tour events are replaced by new ones, the book may become slightly dated but, nonetheless, it is a great spectator's guide for those who watch the tour each week on TV or who occasionally attend tour events in person. The volume also includes a great map of each course covered. This is useful because it puts the course in perspective, For example, I have seen the famous 13th hole at Augusta National on TV many times but never appreciated how sharp a dogleg it is until seeing the map. Also, the map shows the direction each hole runs in relation to other holes. For example one hole may go out and the next hole come back in the opposite direction. The maps give you this perspective. Another great feature of the book is a short piece written by a golfer who has won the tournament played on that course. I highly recommend this wonderful book.

A very good review of the subject matter.
I was able to pass the 640-605 test handily using this book as my primary source of study information.

There were a good number of small mistakes, (for example a 2511 router has 16 and not eight asynchronous interfaces) which were mildly annoying. One would hope that it would have been better edited technically. Still, it's better than the other choices out there, some of which I've been very disappointed in.

The text was organized well, and was surprisingly easy to study, especially considering the subject matter. As a Cisco book, it seemed to have a clearer idea of what the test would expect; I noticed no major oversights as I took the test.

Overall, very good, with some improvements possible.

Another great one from Cisco Press!
This book is an excellent study tool for the Remote Access Exam. The sections on ISDN and Frame Relay are well-written, as is the rest of this certification guide.

Oh, and I passed the test on the first try.

THE guide to pass the exam
I worked (hard) on this book for 3 weeks (without doing the labs), and I passed the #640-505 today with a 808 (703 required). To be clear I will just enumerate the good and bad points; here are the good ones:
1. It covers very well the exam (except for the chapter about Win95! there were questions in the exam, but hopefully very easy), and some questions in the CD were in the real exam
2. Short and clear
3. Only a very very few mistakes (actually I found only a couple of them, mostly on the CD, which decided me not to buy any book whom reviewers say it is full of mistakes)
4. Feeling to learn something, not just working for an exam (just a feeling, not a proof it is a good book !)

The bad ones:
1. The test exams on CD do not respect the format of the exam; when it is about IOS commands, you have to choose within a list of 40 or more commands, not just 4 as usual. Actually, I found it more difficult to choose within 4 commands than 40, because the 40 ones are mostly all different one from another. But he could have told me what was the exam format!
2. It covers the exam, but the study is not in depth; too often I had questions on topics I had seen, but "ah, just on this case, what happen ?"
3. Consequence of the (2): I will not keep this book; I've taken my little notes, now I can sell it. The advantage of this book is also the disadvantage: it is designed to make you pass the exam, no more. But it is in the informal contract from the beginning.

If you want to pass the exam learning things, buy this book. It is really more than enought, and a pleasure to read.
