Feel the powerful assurance of God whenever you need it.
When you're feeling helpless and vulnerable, this is the tape to help you get back on your feet. Here's an inspirational and motivational words of God from scriptures to remind you of His perpetual and unconditional Love for you. Cherie Larkin has put together exactly what I would've personally chosen if and when I need the assurance from the scriptures. The calming voice of Michael Moran is perfect, though not necessarily the voice of God, but after several quiet moments of listening, you'd be convinced that God is personally talking to you -- The feeling of comfort and strength surges thru incredibly beyond belief knowing that whatever you are currently going thru, God is always there for you. God's own words from the scriptures come alive in "God's Promises".

If you travel a lot like me, you'd find the audible.com version of this tape remarkably convenient, I was able to load it on my PPC without the extra bulk that goes with cassette & tape player (the audible.com version can also be played on your laptop/PC by your choice of either MediaPlayer, RealPlayer, or Audible Desktop Player).

Three highly spiritual talents combine
Cherie Larkin wrote the script for this deeply devotional and spiritual tape; Michael Moran who was the reader on one of the Daily Word tapes is also the reader here; and Coco Ramos, who performs on the Inner Time, Inner tempo tape provides the musical background. The result is a tape which can be used to aid meditation, whether you use it in the morning at sunrise, or evening at sunset, or bedtime or whenever. Many of the thoughts are scriptural, and they are all spiritually uplifting, suitable for the beginning, the middle, or the end of day.

Comforting, Inspirational, Wonderful
God's Promises is one of the most comforting, helpful and soothing reminders of God's love that I have ever heard. If you are feeling depressed, alone or abandoned, God's Promises can help transform your life. I highly recommend it, no matter what is happening in your life.

An Excellent Reappraisal
After two decades of practicing Eastern meditation, I found what I felt was missing, thanks to Centering Prayer: the presence of the Personhood of God. (I'd grown tired of mind traps and fruitless stillness, and methods emphasing words, breath control, where meditation really degenerated into my clinging to basically repetitive superstitious gesture. Actually, I'm grateful for such experience because it helps me avoid such things in practicing Centering Prayer). The humble, insightful M. Basil Pennington and his colleagues offer a work that is conversational, not didactic. This book boldly asserts the reality of a loving God. All those years I'd focused on the Void, the Impersonal, an inner Something, Someone, kept prodding me, which I initially rejected as old Catholic-school training that was re-surfacing. Now, for me, the big Drawing Card is that the Divine Person glows as the crux, the heart, the very beauty, of this book. Also, Rabbi Kushner, in his foreword, speaks poignantly on becoming one with God as a "Heart Person" in life. So many insightful people, from many spiritual paths have generously contributed to this book. I'm grateful for it.

A must for any undergraduate physical therapist.
This book is simply amazing. Its practicality makes you think and indirectly guides you to the necessary information a physiotherapist needs, eliminating all the unnecessary detailed concepts one tends to fall into. This book teaches a person how to think simple and not look for the most complicated of answers. It is a must for all undergraduates who are nearing their finals.

Collector's Guide to Victor Records
Published in Hardcover by Monarch Record Enterprises (1992)
Authors: Michael W. Sherman, William R. Moran, and Kurt R. Nauck
Amazon base price: $90.00
Used price: $150.00
Average review score:

Indispensable for the 78-rpm Collector!
This book is an absolute must for any record collector with an interest in Victor records. Though small in size, no space is wasted and no expense spared to give the Victor aficionado clear and precise photographs - many in color, to illustrate the various label types. This enables any collector, from the neophyte to the more knowledgeable, to place a reasonable issue date on the record he has in his hand - not merely when it was recorded.

Charts and graphs included provide, as accurately as currently possible, chronological placement of various records according to size, price class, and label type. The book places a large emphasis on the Red Seal (celebrity classical) label type, but the popular categories are not overlooked. The text is clear, concise, and quite readable, especially when one considers the huge amount of numerical information presented.

A most interesting feature is a central section featuring Victor's most "important" classical artists of the period, taking the opportunity to use tenor Enrico Caruso (arguably Victor's greatest-ever recording artist) as an example to show every label variety presented. Since his recordings have been readily available in virtually every recording format since 1902, this is a most appropriate example. A useful annotated bibliography concludes the book.

In conclusion, no serious collector of 78-rpm records should be without this book. It has already reached somewhat of a cult status and deserves it, and your purchase of this book will ensure that Sherman, Moran, and Nauck continue the excellent research they have done in the field of vintage recordings. If you don't buy it here, buy it somewhere!

Tickling boyfriend in pantyhose
I am into feminizing and dominating my boyfriend. Tickling is an area of domination which I had not thought about exploring. This book gave me some ideas. I decided to suprise my boyfriend. I made him dress up in pantyhose and then I tied him up. I then told him that I was going to try something new. I spent hours tickling torturing him with feathers, my fingers and other things suggested in this book. This excellent book has opened a whole new world of domination for us.

Delicious crowd-pleasing recipes written with wit and humor
Taking the best of the best, Hodgman compiles a delectable collection of recipes aimed to please the most discriminating palate. Ok, it's not gourmet or even low-cal, but this is the best of the best and creative...who cares about the waistline!!!

Buy it, cook it and let your friends think you're the most amazing cook who ever walked the planet! Then go out and buy her "Beat That!" cookbook and continue the magic.

Beat This!
I am so, so pleased to find that Beat This! is back in print - and, even better news - that it now has a sibling - Beat That!. Beat This! might be the only cookbook I've ever read purely for pleasure. Ann Hodgman is the honest "voice of mom" you've always wanted to hear, and her sprightly commentary on family traditions ("My new husband actually played a record on Christmas night. A record! When (according to my family's traditions) you're supposed to pretend electricity doesn't exist at Christmastime! And he wanted lights on the tree...."), candy thermometers and all sorts of other things actually make me laugh out loud.

And the recipes are superb. So wonderful, in some cases, that I've found myself passing them off to guests as old family secrets rather than reveal my source. (Of course, I always told myself I was saving my guests the pain of finding out that this book was out of print...) Included are staples such as chocolate cake, fried chicken, and meat loaf, but there are other fun surprises, too. Did you even know you wanted the best Kimchi recepe? Or the best Artichoke and Mushroom Salad? How about the best Presto Torta? But trust me - you do and you will, once you buy this book, wonder how you ever did without them.

UNIQUE AND FUN READING!
I have a "Trillion" cookbooks, and this one and her other cookbook, "Beat That", are my fabulous favorites. The recipes are sooooo good, and I have fun making her recipes to see if my family and friends agree. I had stumbled on, "Beat This", at our local library, and loved it. I wanted my own copy, but they must have been out of print. The library wouldn't let me buy it, so I accidently lost it, OOPS!! Then I got my wish, and bought it. A few months later, it came back in with fabulous new covers. I will be ordering these to give as Christmas gifts . These are alot of fun - buy them - and enjoy!

Younger Than That Now: A Peace Corps Volunteer Remembers Morocco
Published in Paperback by Full Court Pr (1994)
Author: Michael Moran
Amazon base price: $12.95
Average review score:

Well written and captivating
Michael Moran writes an interesting book about his two years in the Peace Corps in Morocco. Although this book doesn't actually tell you much about the Peace Corps itself (something that Moran actually doesn't seem too interested in, despite his two year commitment to the program), it does show you one way a Peace Corps experience can go -- which is to say, he pretty much turned the two years of "service" into an opportunity for him to travel and have some experiences worth turning into a book later on. What makes this book worth reading is that Moran writes well and does not try to spare himself. He presents himself as a real person who is, at alternating times, naive, determined, pretentious, sympathetic, arrogant, or young. But throughout it all, he is intelligent and honest as he portrays his struggles with Moroccan culture and with his own life, a self-consciousness ultimately represented through his relationship with a Scottish woman, Janet Graves.

A note: Don't bother to read the synopsis on the back of this book -- it isn't an accurate portrayal of the main themes or struggles of the book.

I do believe that other Peace Corps writers (such as Thomsen in "Living Poor") allow their experiences to change and influence them. As Moran says in his introduction (excerpted above in the Editorial Reviews), he doesn't think that the PC really changes people, but rather dramatizes their flaws. I believe this viewpoint of his is a result of the mentality he had going into the experience-- he seemed to have been dissatisfied and somewhat lonely in his American life, and was seeking an escape in a somewhat strict and self-righteous way that didn't allow for him to be changed by the culture around him. Ultimately, I'm sure he did change, as we are all changed by our experiences, but don't expect this book to be a telling of how those changes occur. It's simply an interesting read about two years in an expatriate's life, but its honesty and the adventures contained within it will be captivating nonetheless.

Impressions of "Younger Than That Now"
I happened to come across this book in Austin, TX. The cover art was interesting and well done, very colorful, and it caught my eye. This guy has quite a tale about being in the Peace Corps in Morocco, among other things. There is a fascinating account of a meeting Mr. Moran had with Paul Bowles. He writes of personal experiences that were sincerely entertaining, and the man knows how to write. There is a sense of surrealism of this period of time, from 1981-1984 or so, that mirrors a similar mood of the early Reagan years. For a testament of the changing world around that time period, "Younger Than That Now" captures it as well as can be done. This book deserves to be read. It's just a great, all-around piece of writing.

Synopsis of Younger Than That Now
"Pure kif,"the legendary expatriate musician and writer Paul Bowles told me,"is the best thing in the world for a troubled mind." Younger Than That Now chronicles Michael Moran's hallucinatory trip through the labyrinths of Boujad,Morocco, where the Peace Corps volunteer lived and taught from 1981 to 1983. Part lyric, part fact, this book lays bare the inside workings of the Peace Corps and shows how each volunteer,no matter how estranged, struggles to make a difference.Through all the talk, repentance, and endless travel, one thing remains constant:Moran's experience is never PC.
