A great addition of any bookshelf
This marriage of poetry and illustrations is like no other. As an educator I enjoy the layout of the book. The poems are divided into categories such as poems about weather, spooky poems, and animal poems. The illustrations are by Caldecott Medal artists - the best of the best! I have purchased countless copies of Sing a Song of Popcorn as it is a perfect gift to give to families to celebrate the arrival of a new baby. It is a book that all members of the family can enjoy - the young ones will enjoy the rhyming patterns of some of the poems and the silliness of others. The adults will treasure the inclusion of such classic poems as Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" and Jack Prelutsky's entertaining "The Spaghetti Nut".

Collection of fantastic poems
You don't have to be a certain age to enjoy this book, full of wonderful poems from various well known poets. There is a poem for every walk of life in this book. This book is sure to be on your shelf for many years to come!

An excellent resource for elementary teachers :)
I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of poetry and the beautiful illustrations which accompany. As a kindergarten teacher, I found the anthology to be an invaluable resource for introducing young children (or any children) to the world of poetry. :

We miss you, Marcia.
I read HYPERSENTIENCE shortly after its publication in 1976. It is a fascinating book, full of interesting case histories based on Marcia Moore's work with past-life regression, and full of information on techniques which she used in the course of her work. Interest in the therapeutic value of past-life regression has spread widely through the psychological and psychiatric community and resulted in the invaluable research of Raymond Moody, Roger Woolger, Brian Weiss and others. All of them - not to mention their clients - owe a powerful debt to Marcia Moore.

The book, frankly, is a how-to guide for past-life regression, and debunks many of the myths surrounding that particular discipline. First of all, it emphasizes that, contrary to the work of sensationalistic authors like Frank de Felitta (author of AUDREY ROSE), one cannot be seriously harmed by it. If Marcia's techniques are used, the client (whom she calls the sensor) remains totally in control at all times, and if the memories that come up are so painful they can't face them, the subject can come out of his or her trance at will. (I had this happen more than once with my clients.)

The second myth she debunks is that the facilitator (the regression therapist) simply plants suggestions into the mind of the sensor. In Marcia's technique, the facilitator bends over backwards to avoid planting suggestions. There are ways to "prime the pump" and bring up memories without planting suggestions.

The third myth that Marcia dashes is that the memories that come up are always to be accepted as gospel truth. No facilitator worth their salt believes that. It's not that the technique is faulty. Memory is faulty. How well can you remember everything that happened to you last week? But Marcia did believe that even if regression material was mistaken, or off track, or even faked (and yes, people do fake it - but a good regression therapist can spot a faker easily) it still told the therapist something valuable about the sensor. So even if one doesn't totally accept reincarnation, studying HYPERSENTIENCE can shed light on new ways to learn more about the human psyche.

Marcia Moore died long before enlightened and open-minded scientists, primarily students of modern quantum physics, took a second look at the questions of immortality and reincarnation - and began to wonder if there wasn't something to it. Some have even formulated theories that Marcia knew about way back in the early days of the New Age. Wherever she is, I'm sure she is gratified that the latest discoveries about the nature of the Universe are beginning to coincide with the theories surrounding immortality.

I worked with Marcia Moore from 1976 through late 1978, shortly before she died - and with her encouragement wrote books of my own about reincarnation and its implication for society. Yet whenever I give a workshop in past-life regression, I still use HYPERSENTIENCE as a text - even though it's been out of print for a long time. Would that some enlightened publisher would bring it back into print.

The Truth WILL Set You Free!
This book gives the individual a track to run on in having a life free from fears, failures, and other things that have caused the person to have a wounded spirit. The explanations and actual prayers to send directly to the throne room of God are based on the truths found in the Bible.

The author has stepped out in a walk of faith to present to the public the REAL root causes of problems in their lives. As deception is the lie that is upon all of us, this author dares to address spirits that are definitely not of God.The individual actually is able to be rid of lifelong hang-ups as they are able to express their faith through the many prayer examples offered in 'Simple Freedom".

The ultimate goal of this book is to be a guide for everyone to have a life of peace. So whether the lie you have bought is one of infirmity, seduction, withchcraft, anti-christ, perversion, bondage, heaviness, anger, jealousy, pride, lethargy, harlotry or any other...peace is just a prayer away!

It is an 'easy read' of 135 pages. It truly is a power-packed book lightly touching all subjects of deception. It opens the door to freedom and closes the door/doors of turmoil. What price could possibly be placed on such valued knowledge?

Validated my feelings and gave me hope
As someone currently going through PPD, I found this book very comforting and helpful. OK, so Marie's an entertainer, not a writer--big deal. I applaud her for having the courage to "air (some of) her dirty laundry" in order to help other women who experience this horrible condition. I was extremely impressed by Dr. Judith Moore's section of the book and plan to try her recommendations. As someone else said, Dr. Moore's section alone is worth the price of the book. However, it is Marie who introduces us to Dr. Moore in the first place and Marie's "image" that's selling the book to many people, so Marie's contribution can't be discounted.

A Startling Journey of Recovery
Hard to believe that someone so gifted could suffer from depression, post partum or otherwise. Yet that is the story shared by Marie Osmond. The world saw her smile, sing, dance, act and host shows with her talented brothers. She appeared to be on top of the world as she embraced marriage and motherhood. Yet behind the professional smile and demeanor was pain and unhappiness. She writes the book to help other women who suffer similarly and who are unable to articulate their feelings. There is a surprising chapter on the abuse she experienced, and has identified as a causitive factor in her own depression. Writing the book was cathartic for Ms. Osmond. Women and their husbands may likewise gain insight into this illness and how to help each other and their marriage by reading this book. Candid, honest, and revealing.

Subtitle is "Walk a mile in my shoes"
While this is a book basically about PPD the fact is it is a book about mental illness and how we as a society either turn away or face the lion and the fact that mental illness in whatever form is treatable.

My birth mother was institutionalized because of schizophrenia, my husband after being hit by a drunk driver developed PTSD (post traumatic shock disorder) and because of the roller coaster journey I had a brush with DID or Dissociative Identity Disorder.

PPD like these other mental health issues can be dealt with. And unless you have been there, you cannot possibly understand why Ms Osmond doesn't tickle the voyeurs need to know the torrid details about the sexual abuse she notes she encountered. I am thankful she had the maturity to note it and move on to the bigger picture which was PPD, and the help she got.

Thank you Marie for helping everyone, patient as well as family and friends better understand that mental health is something we all need to come out of the dark ages and into the modern world of wholeness and help. You may never fully know what a great gift you have given so many, many people.
