A good college selection strategy guide
Having read many college admissions tips with admonitions of how I wasn't going to get into college because I didn't do this and I didn't do that... this book was a step in the right direction.

"Winning the Heart of the College Admissions Dean" recommends choosing eight first choice schools. What you know best, you like best, says Joyce Slayton Mitchell. If you aren't obsessed with one school, are looking equally at all eight, then when you get into three or four of them you'll be guaranteed to have a school you enjoy.

I liked the strategies in this book, such as the SAT: no SAT score will get you into a college. It may keep you out, but not likely.

For any parent of a teenager or junior needing advice on how to pick the perfect school, "Winning the Heart of the College Admissions Dean" is the way to go.

A universal experience
"A Special Delivery" by Elizabeth and Joyce Mitchell is a mother-daughter and prenatal memoir in a unique format. I was struck repeatedly at how different this mother and daughter were (geographically and culturally) from my own experience. The letters from the mother, however, felt like ones I have received many times from my own mother. That is because this book shares the spiritual side of parenting that is apparent especially to women. Very enjoyable read.

BabyLounge.com gives A Special Delivery 4 pacifiers (of 5)
This unique book is a chronicle of letters between a mother and daughter living worlds apart, but manage to stay connected with letters full of love, hope, and the anticipation that comes with pregnancy.

Mothers and daughters across the world will relate to this book and give them a new appreciation for the incredible bond that is shared between them. The bond that is magically multiplied exponentially when a grandchild is on the way.

This wonderfully touching book will make you realize that no matter how far apart you are from loved ones, you can always be close at heart.

Are you a mother or daughter...then you will enjoy this book
I have just finished reading the most delightful book. Its a book written by a mother and daughter. The book is "A SPECIAL DELIVERY" by Joyce Slayton Mitchell and Elizabeth Dix Mitchell. Each of them are from a different era so they have to accept each others feelings on life. The whole books is letters back and forth to each other. But I can tell you this I could hardly wait to turn the page and see what the other one would respond back with and its wonderful how over the time each began to accept what the other one was saying or doing. Take time and read this book. It will help you develop your thoughts with your Mom or daughter and give you ways to begin having a better relationship.

Crashed, Smashed, and Mashed is marvellous!
A Trip to Junkyard Heaven to where 12 million cars are recycled in the US & Canada every year, now you can get to see it happen.

Crash! Another car is ready for the graveyard, so, chain it to the flatbed & head on in to find a final resting place. Drain the fluids, pull the engine & tires, then torch the assemblies so they can be reused. Then it's into the crusher & onto the shredder.

With bold, bright photos & simple, engaging language, Joyce Slayton Mitchell & Steven Borns takes us through Junkyard Heaven from start to finish. They even provide us with a glossary & recycling facts.

A must for every kid, young & old, who drools at the sight of a junkyard!

Tractor-Trailer Trucker: A Powerful Truck Book
Published in Hardcover by Tricycle Pr (2000)
Authors: Joyce Slayton Mitchell and Steven Borns
Amazon base price: $14.95

buyer beware!
This book has great photos and provides a very basic overveiw of the trucking industry. I would reccommend this book to any school library. Don't be fooled, this book is not written to help with answering more technical questions that would be sort after by students taking lessons for a career in the trucking industry... For this I strongly reccomend "Bumper to Bumper"

Good for learning
I think that this book is good for learning because it tells about tractor-trailers. It also tells how they fix trucks. The photos show good photographs in your head with the words.

Tractor-Trailer Trucker is exciting!
A Powerful Truck Book where we get to hook up the tractor to the trailer; load the cargo & inspect the rig. Put the truck in gear - you should see how many they have - pull onto the highway & head out in the driver's seat.

Before starting out there's a lot to do: check under the hood for fluid levels, shock absorbers & frayed hoses & wiring. Check the tires, load the cargo & do your circle check. Phew! That took a lot of time & now it's breakfast at the truck stop & then off on the road with all its sights & sounds, dreams & driving

With bold, bright photos & simple, engaging language, Joyce Slayton Mitchell & Stephen Borns takes us through a tractor-trailer trucker's day. They even provide us with a glossary & a page of trucker talk terms.

A grand learning & talking book - a must for every kid, young & old, who drools at the sight of tractor-trailers, juggernauts, behemoths! I loved this book!
