GREAT BOOK FOR ALL AGES!
Great book! I purchased this book because I have a student who was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I wanted the class to understand what their classmate was going through and to answer any questions they may have. I truly believe that educating children on issue such as this will help enhance their lives as well as the child who is experiencing it first hand. Thanks Kim, for a wonderful book for all ages!!

A Great Book to Send to School!
My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes three years ago. Every year since, I've asked her teachers to let her read this book to the class at the beginning of the year. This is a great tool for the other children to understand what Diabetes is, why my daughter gets special snacks at special times, but most importantly it lets them know that she is just like every other kid. Having Diabetes is hard enough on children without the added stress it can cause at school. I encourage all parents who are in my position to make this book a part of your school education efforts. It shouldn't replace the training materials and meetings, but addresses the often overlooked element of how to help the child with Diabetes fit into the classroom.

How did this mid-1800's farm-girl ends up in India?
While this true-life story can't compete with the constant thrill-a-minute excitement level of a fictional Tom Clancy novel, the wonderful realities and historical remembrances portrayed here provide a down-to-earth documentation well worth a few hours of your time. The editor provides a unique and historically accurate documentary of the little-known life of her great-grand-mother, Rachel Kerr, mostly from her great-grand-mother's own hand. Rachel was a young farm-girl who married a minister and spent much of her life as a missionary's wife in India in the mid-1800's, far from the family she loved so much. The editor initially provides informative and interesting historical background material about Rachel's youth while growing up in and around Hookstown, Pennsylvania. Hookstown is a very small cross-roads town located in hilly farm-country about 30 miles west of Pittsburgh near the state border with West Virginia. The details of her life in this area can be easily verified through numerous government and individual archive records available today. Even many of the physical locations in and around Hookstown can still be easily traced and located today. Hookstown has now grown a little bit and is an interesting place to visit; but it still remains an out-of-the-way place which doesn't put much stock in trying to keep up with the hectic pace of the rest of the world. After the background has been properly set, the editor then smoothly brings in the real meat of the story through incorporation of an extensive verbatim series of letters written personally by Rachel, coupled with historical commentary where needed. These original letters provide an unusual personal and emotional insight into Rachel's exciting but challenging life as a mother and as a missionary's wife in the extremely dangerous and difficult environment of mid-eighteenth century India. The brief story of how the editor encountered her great-grand-mother's letters is itself a fascinating one. The stories these letters tell bring a real-life perspective to us that the movies have never touched. I became particularly attached to the book when I found out that the subject is my great-great aunt, that all the people she describes are my relatives, and that I grew up in her hometown locale. I also have a large, beautiful cross-stitch done by Rachel Kerr in 1848 at the age of 12. I always cherished that cross-stitch, even as a little boy, but, until I read this book, I only knew that Rachel Kerr was somehow related to me. I found the same beauty and sensitivity in this book that I always admired in that cross-stitch and it confirms to me what a wonderfully bright, talented, and unique person this lady truly was. Down Buttermilk Lane - A Beautiful Book
If you enjoy giving your children beautifully illustrated books with delightful, entertaining and informative content, this is a wonderful addition to your child's library.

"Down Buttermilk Lane" is a great way to introduce your child to the Amish way of life. Through it's colorful pictures and colloquial writing, it transports you to Buttermilk Lane, a road that really exists.

My son loves riding in the car and leafing through the pictures as we pass Zimmerman's store, the Ebersol Chair Shop, and many beautiful farms in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

A beautiful book in every way.

Good Biography About the Peanut Man.
A goober is the old name for peanuts and A POCKETFUL OF GOOBERS is a biography about George Washington Carver, the scientist who made peanuts famous. To be completely honest, I didn't know much about Carver and therefore found this children's book entertaining, educational, and informative. For instance, I learned that Carver was a gifted artist as well as a scientist and that later in life he became good friends with Henry Ford. The biography is written in a simple style that elementary students will find easy to read and Carver's life is so interesting they should find the book interesting.

Great new knowledge for kids!
This book is great new knowledge for kids. Many kids today have an almost "extinct" image of Native Americans, wearing feathers and breechcloths in a very distant past. This book highlights the real life story of today's urban Native Americans who live in a city but still celebrate their heritage and culture. The lead character, Katie, is shown getting in a station wagon with her family, all excited about the upcoming pow-wow. Kids see a Katie living a lifestyle similar to theirs while learning about her cultural heritage. I think the book is great and a very much needed update on today's Native Americans.

A little bit of everything
This book can be used by pianists and piano teachers (often isolated in small towns) to find up-to-date answers to recurring injury problems, inspiration for playing "from the mind and heart" as well as the hands, and, in general, just talking about piano (although a lot of the information works well for other instrumentalists as well--especially the exercises for flexibility and strength). It's like a "class in a book."

This is bound to be a classic
This is a book of tremendous value for analysts and therapists involved in the practice of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. The collection of authors and their personal struggles in and out of the consultation room provides a rich and seldomly seen view of how life touches the therapist and the patient.

Not enough entrees
I am a big fan of Paulette Mitchell's cookbooks, with several recipes from her 15-Minute Gourmet Chicken and Noodles cookbooks at the very top of my favorite-meals-ever list. I couldn't wait to try the third book- The 15 Minute Gourmet Vegetarian.

I was not disappointed by the quality of the recipes, I was instead disappointed by the very thin section on entrees, compared to the bulk of the book that is dedicated to salads, deserts, and other things. In my experience, vegetarians don't need more salads and deserts. Most salads and deserts are vegetarian anyway. Entrees are the sticking point- many meat eaters I know would happily give up the occasional burger if they could find something just as satisfying without the meat. This recipe book gives a few suggestions, but not as many as I would have liked. Many of the recipes call for a simple substitution of tofu where the meat would have been, which I consider a very uninspired approach to vegetarian cuisine.

If you are already a vegetarian and want a few entrees to supplement an already extensive vegetarian repertoire, you might like this book. Just reading the lists of ingredients on some of the salads makes my mouth water, and the desserts are converting me into a dessert-lover. However, if you are a starting vegetarian, this book does not give you enough full meals. I would suggest buying one of the Moosewood Collective cookbooks instead (ignoring the fish section if you are a real vegetarian, of course).

The busiest cookbook on my shelf!
Six years after purchasing The 15-Minute Vegetarian Gourmet, I can still say that this is the most often used cookbook in my collection (and the most often shared). Recipes are simple, honestly delicious, quick, healthy, and distinctive without being too strange for mainstream American tastes. I have blessed Ms. Mitchell many nights when it was my turn to cook and I was exhausted. This is also a good source of "company food" for people whose gifts do not lie in the kitchen yet want to entertain with a (manageable) bit of flair.

Delicious, quick, and practical!
Pasta with Szechwan Peanut Dressing, Vegetable Stir-Fry with Ginger Sauce, Vegetable Curry and Mixed Fruit Chutney, all now our delicious and fast favorites from The 15-Minute Vegetarian Gourmet by Paulette Mitchell. These recipes have intriguing little taste treats which lift them above the ordinary. The book stands by itself as the most practical and satisfying when you are looking for something truly good as well as easy and quick to prepare, a busy cook's treasure. Ms. Lee Costello Scott, Chariton, Iowa
