A radiant light now shines on everyone's "path"!
Since he was just a little boy growing up in Brooklyn with his Italian family, the author has been gifted with experiences of the "higher order of eternal life". Half-a-century later, Lorenzo begins to journal these cosmic encounters, and I say:"Thank God!". Whether one knows it or not, all of us are on a spiritual path and "Mouth of God" is what we all have within our physical beings. Reading Lorenzo's book is uplifting, a timely gift to the Planet. "Mouth of God: Your Cosmic Contract" has given me an understanding deepwithin the heart that whispers: "Yes! Thesecelestial experiences are available to each andeveryone of us. We need only to give them (our)permission to happen." Blessings abundant to you, Lorenzo... and keep writing.

A true gift from the heart for the coming millennium.
Lenore J. Vardi Fairfield, Iowa August 7, 1999

For close to fifteen years, I have had the honor and privilege of knowing Lorenzo as a spiritual advisor, councilor, and very dear friend. He has personally seen me through two spiritual transitions, complete with voids and very difficult "dark nights of the soul", and helped me to see "Myself". In his silent, calm, simple, complex, humorous, highly intelligent, and wonderful deeply understanding way, Lorenzo is a force not to be taken lightly. I have long awaited his book 'The Mouth of God-Your Cosmic Contract', and it is finally here! What a tremendous gift of sharing for all of us!!! Lorenzo expresses his truth with a capital T, in a artistically and wonderfully engaging style, resulting in a work of true beauty and enlightenment that you simply cannot put down! Now everyone will be able to have the benefit of a "Lorenzo Experience" the way I have! As a performing artist, I give this terrific book a "Two Thumbs Up", many bravos, and a hearty standing ovation!

A journey of merging in pure consiousness - A must!
In "The Mouth of God: Your Cosmic Contract," Lorenzo Caravella not only explores the different states of consciousness but takes us on this path of enlightenment where we discover that there is nothing but the Self, for the Self and to the Self. The author's experience is lived through the book and one's life is touched deeply in all aspects. How can it be otherwise when truth is so simply put!

About the essence of life itself, its meaning, God's plan
God At The Ritz: Attraction To Infinity is the candid discourse by Lorenzo Albacete (a Catholic priest and physicist with a degree in Space Science and Applied Physics), about the essence of life itself, its meaning, God's plan, and a great deal more. From surveying the balance between science and faith; to addressing the eternal questioning of why such suffering and horror exist in God's world; to the "big three" contemporary issues of sex, money, and politics; God At The Ritz is a refreshing, insightful, articulate, "reader friendly", and highly recommended attempt to make sense of the great mysteries of life, and to acknowledge that there are some concepts that can only be understood by God himself.

Attraction to Infinity--through the finite
Monsignor Lorenzo Albacete has written a serious and humorous book about the human longing, desire, and attraction for the infinite, the eternal, the mysterious "beyond." Albacete is an intellectual, and his brief critiques of other thinkers testify to a brilliant mind, but his illustrations and vignettes always spring from life: a very earthy life, his life. And so the relationship between reason and human experience forms the thread that ties this book together. That thread is a kind of judgement, but his judgement is so humble, so full of humanity and understanding, because it flows not from an abstract theory, but from a life fully lived, from a mind and a man engaged with human reality in his search for the meaning of that reality, for what lies beyond it and ultimately constitutes it. Here is a book capable of speaking to any man of any time, brimming with the humanity and generosity of its author.

Albacete is a modern day Pascal!
Msgr. Albacete is a modern day Pascal, and this is his Pensees'. Albacete writes a column for the NY Times Magazine, and is respected by the cultural elites (the recent PBS special on "Faith and 9-11" ended with his comments). Yet, he is a Catholoic priest completely committed to the teachings of the Catholic Church, as well as a personal friend of Pope John Paul II. How so? Read this book and find out. Where Pascal shattered the smug rationalism of his day, now Albacete performs aikido on modernism and post-modernism, reconciling all that's true and good in them with genuine faith, while exposing modernity's fallacies -- its hidden ideologies, utopias, and deceptions that keep us from fulfilling our genuine desires, especially our inborn longing to know the meaning of life and the universe. While written for seekers of all kinds, this book makes it possible, for the first time since Darwin, Marx, Nietzsche and Freud (and Seinfeld), to be a really intellectually satisfied believer. If you think you've given faith every chance, and it's always come up short, this is the book for you.

Un libro erotico y absurdo
.

-- Peter Bloch

bellissima
Wittkower has created a book that is easily enjoyable for those familiar of Bernini, or those starting to learn about art/archetecture of the Baroque. I highly reccommend this book to anyone remotely interested in this period, as the photos are clear and the explanations are not filled with jargon a lay person could not understand. bravo.

A Must For Bernini Scholars
Wittkower's work is simply stated an artistic anthology of the achievements and life of the chief architect of the Roman Baroque. His perseptive commentary and pertinent factual information are extremely useful to all who attempt to comprehend the complex messages behind all of Bernini's work. While the author stays committed to rendering the artist as a sculptor and architect, one wishes that Wittkower would delve more into the environment, particularly political and religious movements, that continually serve as an impetus and background to Bernini's chef d'oeuvres. Regardless, Wittkower's inclusion of both color and detailed black and white plates allow the viewer to observe the Baroque master's works in their appropriate light.

An uplifting story that proves rehabilitation is possible.
I have worked within the system and witnessed many things, I can attest to the accuracy and honesty in this book. Father Booker explains the events that lead to his incarceration and rehabilitation with such honest emotion, that one can not help but "feel" as if they are actually on the journey with him. He was able to accomplish many things( education, work, tutor) that would normally be viewed as impossible to do from a prison cell. His positive outlook on life and love of God are evident in his life. Perhaps, this is why he is able to write so honestly about his journey.

A message of hope for those in an environment of despair.
This book should be made readily available to all prison inmates. The story would be enlightening to correcctions(incarceration) staff. The author(s) have shed light on many issues which should be addressed in today's legal and penal system. Those in society who believe, incorrectly, in the infalability of law enforcement and corrections people would have their eyes opened by this very nicely handled treatment of a delicate subject.

you kind lady,I shall always treasure this moment.I am still in

lady named: Miriam Chaikin. Bless her heart! Thanks again.

My children's initial encounter with The Hot Dog Man
It was early Winter in 1979. Tanya, Artie, Miriam and I were on their very first train ride. We were off to Birmingham , Alabama and Lake Charles, La.
Lorenzo Lynch, "The Hot Dog Man", helped me out with the children. He read the book: The Hot Dog Man" to my children, while rocking one of them to sleep in his lap. It was that moment
I saw a genuine greater interest in my daughter's eyes, to read at the age of 4. 4.11 months old, not only was she reading The Hot Dog Man but many other other books, similar and above. Tested by a Duke University program, she was identified as reading on genius level for her age.
Our family's first experience , reading : The Hot Dog Man by Lorenzo Lynch. Mr Lynch personally signed the copy of his book: The Hot Dog Man. My children remembers the train experience, Mr Lynch and "The Hot Dog Man".

A Little Masterpiece!
Father Burtchaell's presentation of this series of events in Italy is a joy to read. The issues go beyond conscription/conscientous objection to civil disobedience and legislation. Don Lorenzo's life and story are enlightening, and the way in which he made a protest into changes in Italian law is a model of effecting change. Father Milani's logic is clear and powerful, using masterful rhetoric. This would make an excellent book for a seminar on civil rights or related topics. The book concerns a Catholic priest, and is written as well by one. It does contain religious debate, and it might present problems if used in a public school. But its tale, only lightly framed by the author, is told mostly in letters, articles and court documents of the time. The nearest figure in American history to Father Milani might be Henry David Thoreau.

A Must for all the people of good will
This is a classical masterpiece. In this book, you can find a systematic analysis of the war and of the emptiness of war. It is a "must buy" for students and for professor of political science and juridical studies. It is a "must buy" for all the people on earth that cherishes the life of their own children. DO NOT MISS IT.

A Must For Sculpter Lovers
This is a beautiful book. The works are shown from different angles, instead of just one frontal photo, so the reader gets the details of the work, with a good accompanying text. I accidently discovered this sculptor, and findto my surprise that some of his work is more appealing than some of the more famous artists of this genre. There is a great deal of detail, in fact, a whole chapter devoted to his fountains, particularly,The Fountains of the 4 rivers. I wish I had this book before I went to Rome and saw it in person. Any lover of sculpture will not be dissapointed with this purchase.

A Classic with faults
I just finished this book and I agree with all the positive comments previously posted. Just wanted to add a few thoughts.

This book was originally serialized in a French magazine back in the 1840s. As a consequence, there are repeated cliffhangers at the end of every chapter. Now I don't mind cliffhangers (hey, they move the plot along) but after 116 of these it got a little old. In addition, some of the character transformations seem implausible and Dumas gets some of his facts mixed up from the early part of the novel (I probably would as well).

I could pick bones about some part. What was the purpose of the whole Cucumetto bandit story? Maybe Dumas was saving him for later but he never does. They plot also needs a miraculous set of confluences to happen in say, well, every part of novel. Entertaining, yup, but at times I just said, "Oh come on now!" The character of Monte Cristo is a very interesting one. If he could ever hook up with Hannibel Lector, another guy who has the highest level of expertise in nearly every field and endeavor, the rest of us would be in big trouble.

Buy this book and enjoy it. It's really quite fun and you'll learn a lot about French history and culture.

Instant Favorite Upon Reading
This book is probably the fastest book I've ever read through. I checked out an old copy with near 1500 pages and read it in six days. I could not leave this book alone. I read straight through some less interesting classes in high school. This book deals with vengeance on so high a level, I had never before imagined anything like it. Dumas has great skill in description, and i enjoyed how he intertwined history into this classic fictional piece of literature. I recommend this book to all adventure seekers. I give this excellent novel five out of five stars! Try it, you'll love it.

A Lost Era Brilliantly Resurrected
A piece of something lost. An elegance and order that is no longer available to this generation. That is what the Count of Monte Cristo takes us back to. As you follow Edmond Dantés, a young and enterprising French fisherman, through a remarkable journey of long and torturous suffering and carefully wrought revenge you will soon gain a new definition of romance and adventure.

The book starts it's story in early 19th century France in a small fishing village called Marseilles, where we first meet youthful Edmond Dantés who is engaged to the most beautiful woman of his village and is soon to be the captain of his own vessel. Though ignorant and naïve, he is beloved by all who know him and has amassed a great deal of friends, however, one with such good fortune also amasses many enemies. Through a series of events plotted by Fernand, who desperately covets Edmond's betrothed, Mercedes, and Danglars, a fellow sailor jealous of Edmond's new promotion to captain, Dantés finds himself in prison for a crime he did not commit. Still ignorant of the scheme that put him in prison, or the plotters who ruined his life, Edmond waits in prison. This changes, however, when he meets his cellmate, Faria, an ancient abbé who is considered mad. This "mad" abbé will reveal an amazing secret to Edmond that will change the course of his fate forever, and hope is finally in his view. Dantés emerges out of prison changed and worn cynical by a long and terrible imprisonment of 16 years. Though he assumes many identities, he gradually adopts the identity as the Count of Monte Cristo, an immensely wealthy and indifferent nobleman as he returns to Marseilles to wreck his much-thought over revenge individually on his plotters. His last words as the former Edmond Dantés after he rewards one of his loyal friends are:

"And now," said the unknown (Edmond) "farewell kindness, humanity, and gratitude! Farewell to all the feelings that expand the heart! I have been Heaven's substitute to recompense the good -now the God of Vengeance yields to me his power to punish the wicked!" At these words he gave a signal, and, as if only awaiting this signal, the yacht instantly put out to sea.
-The Count of Monte Cristo

However, Edmond cannot remain under the cover of the illustrious Count of Monte Cristo forever, and he will soon find that a heart even so indifferent and cold as his own cannot remain lifeless for long. This is an amazing novel of suspense, romance and betrayal. Alexandre Dumas weaves many stories into one enthrallingly suspenseful and complex story of love, hate, betrayal and loyalty. This book has no equal and I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates classic and elegant, while exciting and adventurous, literature.
