This book goes even deeper, using accounts from both sides of the war to portray the feelings of those in battle. Statistics on the projected wounded, killed and missing meant nothing to the men on that day. Their sole purpose was to carry out their orders and survive to someday make it home to their loved ones.
In Mr. Miller's foreword he relates of trying to get those he interviewed to tell of what if felt like to be at Normandy, and what was going through their heads as they approached the beaches.
This book is refereshing in that the author hits his mark and works to portray both sides of the struggle by detailing what the men felt, and not just their reflections on the battle or military strategy. As you progress through the book you will find that the author has done just that and more. It's a "riveting soldier's-eye view of the deadly confusion of battle . . . a significant contribution to military and D-Day literature."
"Nothing Less than Vistory" is quite moving and comes highly recommended to those interested in first hand accounts detailing the leadup and subsequent invasion of Normandy.

There choices in material ranges from the familar to the obscure, from the colonial to the contemporary, and pays attention to the voice of women, African-Americans, and Native Americans--all of whom are significant voices in the history of American Methodism.
The book is chronologically arranged with an excellent index and solid explanations prefacing each document. The work also contains an excellent timeline of American Methodism.
I would conclude by stating, that this volume is best single volume collection of documents from the Methodism that I have ever seen. It is a far cry from the fairly weak and dated collection put together by Norwood some years ago. It will, thus, be an invaluable addition to the library of students and scholars of Methodism. Its greatest area of usefulness, however, will be in the Methodist history courses necessary for ordination in the UMC Church. This volume will go a long way to aid instructors of those courses in teaching the subject.
This volume is the second volume of 2. The first volume (which will carry the same title) will be a survey text on the history of American Methodism. The work has been in development for some years and many, such as myself, anxiously await its release.

Anita Roddick exposes the myths about mangement. She illustrates pefectly that to be successful we need a vision. Her vision was simple. Employ people who care, employ people who are proud, employ people who will question, employ people who will rattle the cage from within. She perfectly illustrates, in her story about borrowing money, how fickle the typical bank manager was in the 1970's - how we would like to think things have changed.
She is also a realist - she pulls no punches she says.... "Im in this for me!" - yes sure she has an ego to satisfy .... dont we all? - her great quality is that she admits it. Most people do not have the honesty to say it.
I just love how she roots her beleifs about business success in common sense ...... like welcoming new ideas and original thought, trusting your staff and listening to your customers - and then change things.
She also has values that are explicit and wants people who work with her to! also work from a values base
Thank you Anita for a wonderful read - here's to the next edition!!

The book is divided in three parts. The first one 'talks' about the origins of o-s and why is it better than proprietary software. The second explains what the geek culture is and what is the o-s/free-sw community and how it works. It presents some mistakes that people make regarding o-s/free-sw. The third part of the book explains how we can participate in this community, how to make business and what are the main players (persons, institutions, companies). At the end the author presents a resume of the principal o-s/free-sw licenses.
This book is an easy reading, interesting and well written. The problem is that the subjects aren't presented with sufficient depth, especially when related to how to make business with this software.
I you decide to buy this book you might also consider the book "Open Source Development With CVS" by Karl Franz Fogel. In one of it's less technical chapters it accomplishes something this book does not.
I guess the lack of humour is one of the things I miss. I miss the fun! But to get the bare bone facts - this is definitively the bok for introduction to OpenSource-development.
Anyone considering doing business within the Open Source community or relating to it should read this book.
I thought so much of "Embracing Insanity" that I obtained a copy for our CEO, and suggested that it be assigned reading for all our executives, as well as recommend it for new hires.
I've been waiting for this book to come along.
