Please read!
You owe it to the health of your child to do the reasearch before allowing him/her to be immunized. I have done alot of reading and talked to several Dr.'s and have decided against any immunizations. The information is out there. Why take a risk? I started seeking info. after I became pregnant because I worked with a man who has a 5 yr. old that is severly damaged by the DPT vaccine. He was a thriving baby, doing everything on time until his 6 month vaccines. That night he started having severe seizures, up to 100 per day. Now he is unable to walk, talk, or function at all. It's sad. I will not take that chance and I have made an informed decision. You can double check Mr. Miller's information. He's not making any of this up. It's based on fact, not opinion.

Exposing the Dark Side of Mandatory Vaccination
This book was well worth a second read. I first read it in 1996. As a member of the generation that was allowed to get the measles and chicken pox, this book made sense to me. As the parent of a child brain-damaged from pertussis vaccine toxins, I welcomed this well researched work. I wish I had read it when I was pregnant with Bill. I read so much on nutrition and breast-feeding. I did not even know that infants were vaccinated before I took my son to his first well-baby visit at 6 weeks old. I thought it was just that, a well baby visit. The doctor's attempt to fix what was not broken resulted in a developmentally delayed baby and then later a moderately mentally retarded adolescent. Now with a mentally retarded adult child, I can say there is nothing moderate about post-vaccinal encephalopathy. The politics of immunology is well reported in this little book. It is very to the point. Mr. Miller proves his thesis over and over again and vindicates those professionals who have gone against the grain and refused to participate and those parents whose voices are too seldom given a hearing on this issue. I love a good expose' and this is the best of its genre. It's a great murder mystery, a whodunit that Mr. Miller unravels in great style. The truth is always good, sometimes it goes down a little hard. The price of the book is little to pay for a truth I learned the hard way. ie The truth that corporate profits are being served and not public health. I have bought several copies and given them away. The reality of the tragedy and the scale of this tragedy that he reports on has been suppressed. As a Holocaust Studies major, I cannot help but notice the similarities between attrition by vaccination and the systematic nature of the other war against civilians. One of those similarities has been the refusal to believe atrocity stories. As a parent who 22 years ago began telling of the terrible trauma inflicted on my innocent son, I feel vindicated but I don't feel better. Two of the chapters in this book are "Human sacrifices" and "Genocide". Find out what are federal government has been up to while we have been looking the other way. Margaret S. Scheuer

Had I only known.
To my oldest son, I am so sorry I didn't read this before you were born. Someday I hope you will understand me enough to accept my apology.

Highland River (Canongate Classics, No 37)

One of Scotland's Finest..
As an analogy for life, you can't get any more meaningful than Highland River. A story of a young boy's maturation, told in the brutally honest and realistic context of life in the Highlands of Scotland, before the First World War. His life is intertwined with that of the battle of the salmon, both for survival and to achieve it's mysterious returning to its birthplace. Both are searching for the river's source.

Gunn's writing is breathtaking in its ability to articulate the most intangible of emotions, and there are passages in the book which will stay with me for the rest of my life. Gunn's understanding of the Highland psyche, and his ability to translate it into the most moving prose, is never better exemplified than in this book.

A MASTERPIECE
Neil Gunn's prose in this work is pure perfection. His description of life in the Northern Highlands is passionate, beautiful and refreshingly honest. A complex coming-of-age story that becomes a study of the connections between the working class and the land they live and die on. Gunn is one of Scotland's greatest writers. Contains some absolutely brilliant descriptions of Scotland's natural beauty. If you are interested in great fiction look no further, especially if you have an interest in Scotland. Highly recommended.

Out of the Past: Gay and Lesbian History from 1869 to the Present

Fascinating History
Neil Miller's done a great job of pulling together aspects of (western) gay history. I've read some of the sources for his lesbian chapters and he uses them intelligently to summarise main points. I assume he's does the same with the male stuff and material from other countries which was previously unfamiliar to me. His style is readable, succinct and balanced about how we look at the past from our current viewpoints.

One feature of the book which is particularly pleasing is his use of extracts from writings he's referred to in his central text. This adds a good variety to the voice of the work AND the extracts are long enough (two or more pages in length) to inspire further study.

I also like A) the pictures of famous historical figures, there's something particularly moving about them, (I never knew Willa Cather was so gorgeous!)

and B) the balance of genders and countries covered is better than average.

My advice - read it!

A GREAT SURVEY OF GAY HISTORY
If you are interested in history, I highly suggest this book. Marginalized for eons, gay people are now an integral part of history. Relegated to the backburner, or whispered about in history sources, gay people have come forward with a great history. Within this collection, there are heartaches and triumphs, but always searching for the ideal of equality one day. Another good thing about this book is that it includes non-Western gay and lesbian history as well, yet another subject ignored by the "mainstream" history. An incredibly transfixing and fascinating book, I couldn't put it down, and read into the late hours of the evening.

You are transported to a highland croft, full of tranquility. Times past imagined before technology moved us into the realms of science fiction. If this is old age, then it is something to look forward to.

hard para christian socialist morality Mugeridge not Shaw
This is simply an all time great novel. It has that which is required, that which is optional and that which I did not know could be written. Gunn has created a reality that neither needs nor demands disbelief from any one who has any religious knowledge - and yet creates a god who is acceptable to all faiths.

Leviathan meets GBS meets Inshalla'h

To me this is a vastly underated seminal work (and when you have read it you too can find that description totally inappropriate.)

When you read it, read it contemporaneously. Look at the published date of the first edition and then wonder... and wonder...

And enjoy.

And if you did - email me: proselytising is bl**dy hard work and deserves reward .

Fantastic Book. A must for All Youth Leaders!
I've learned more about Youth in the first two chapters than I have in my time working with them. Its taking me a while to read. There is a paragraph, a line, a word to underline or highlight on every page that hits home to our Youth Problem and how to go about solving it. This book is excellent for working with Both Christian and non-Christian Young People. Youth Leaders, get it and read it. The ideas and bible study in it will enhance your work with your Youth!

gays of the world are here!
This book was great. In it, Miller visits every continent inhabited by humans and speaks with local gays about their lives. The great thing is, he makes a point of speaking to lesbians, gays of color, and the HIV-positive in all these countries. This would be a great book for gays and lesbians of color to read. There are two chapters on Thailand and this may feel a little exploitative and sex-touristy, but Miller is an obvious progressive and wouldn't mean to offend intentionally. While reading this book, you will ask yourself how Miller got the money to do so much travelling and investigating in the first place. Readers will wish they had the opportunities that the author had. This book was both informative and fun.
