Jane's Blanket
When I was a little girl, this was my absolute favorite book.My mother had to read it all the time. My mother gave it away and I kept pressing for her to get it back for me. My mother ended up buying it from a used book store and I know she paid quite a bit for it. I treasure this book and I always loved the pen and ink drawings too. I had a teddy bear that ended up in the same condition as Jane's blanket, and that's where I identified with the story. I had a hard time parting with that old bear. Now I have the book and read it to my two sons who also love it. It is a true feeling of attachment to a comfort item as a child and stays with you always in your heart. Iam so happy to have this book again.

Jane's Blanket
I remember this book SO fondly growing up. It was read to me for years and by me for years afterward. I had a pink blanket, too. I grew out of mine as well(sniff). When I had two girls of my own, I searched and searched for this book. Our local out-of-print bookstore told me it was rare and could go for several hundred dollars. This prompted me to bug my mom until she dug up my slightly battered, but complete copy from childhood. I read it to my girls, but wouldn't sell it for the world. Someday I'll have grandchildren. It's THAT good!

Wonderful book on growing up!
Jane's blanket was pink, and soft, and warm, and she loved it. When she was a baby, she would not play in her playpen without having the pink blanket there too, and she went to sleep every night touching it. Even when she got bigger and had her own bed, she would not go to sleep without her "bata". But as Jane got bigger and bigger, the blanket got smaller and smaller, until finally it was only a torn piece of cloth. Jane still loved her blanket, but now it was so small and torn she didn't know what to do with it, until one fine spring morning a bluebird on her windowsill made her glad she was so big and didn't need her blanket anymore.

This story is the world-renowned playwright's only work for children. His warmth and affectionate understanding of a child's prolonged need for a beloved object is charmingly reflected by drawings in two colors, black and pink, by Emily McCully.

I loved this book
When going from whole grain wheat flour to white flour we lose from 60 to 80% of 12 out of 13 nutrients present at good, or excellent level in Whole Wheat. I loved this cookbook because all the recipes were for whole flours, and never white refined carbohydrates.

In this book you learn how to make a sour dough starter, and how to maintain it. You also learn about natural rise bread which is made without any yeast at all.

I highly recommend this book; unfortunately, I could not find another copy to buy. It seems to be out of print.

Breadtime Stories by Susan Jane Cheney
Fabulous whole wheat receipes that produce light fluffy bread. Good advice on dough handling procedures. Suggestions for tofu use. All in all a terrific cookbook!

Wonderful to read aloud to kids!
We had four Elizabeth Miller CAT AND DOG books when my daughter Caitlin was growing up (she's now 21). But *this* one was my favorite, and I can still quote whole passages from memory. A true gem!

Low Fat, High Flavor
This is a great cookbook. First, it is a pleasure to look at, with gorgeous full-color pictures for every recipe. It's easy to follow, with clear instructions and ingredient lists.

Most importantly, the recipes work. The recipe for sesame chicken with apricots and snow peas is fabulous, and there are many more that look equally wonderful.

Although this is a cookbook with healthy recipes, some of them are a bit higher in fat. The book notes that when you eat one of those, it's a good idea to balance out your diet with some lower-fat foods. In general, though, this book gives you some great ideas for eating in a healthy way without sacrificing taste and pleasure in food.

Lee Miller: model, photographer, free spirit, war journalist
Lee Miller began as one of the most in-demand fashion models of the 20's and 30's. A friend and lover of Man Ray, she proved to be an extremely talented and inventive photographer (with Man Ray, she invented solarization). One of the most beautiful women who ever lived, her life is fascinating and, at times, shocking. In her youth, her father used her as a subject for his own nude studies. Later on, she proved to be a sexual free spirit whose associations tended toward the promiscuous. She has been to bed with many famous men and never allowed any man to dominate her. (Not for long, anyway.) As her looks faded, she turned more and more to photography and, as World War II came along, to photo journalism. There is no hint of femininity in her war work: Her images of death and destruction are just as stark and horrifying as those of any male photographer. After the war (and perhaps because...who knows?), she gave up photography almost entirely, devoting the last part of her life to family life and travel. Like her contemporary (also a photographic genius of the first rank) George Hoyningen-Huene, Lee Miller has almost been forgotten. Luckily, like Hoyningen-Huene, she is being rediscovered and what remains of her work is being lovingly presented in fine editions like this one. Another good work is "The Lives of Lee Miller" by her son, Anthony Penrose. I regard this book as a "must have" for anyone interested in the history and development of photography.

Jane Miller's Best
"Memory at These Speeds: New and Selected Poems" is the best introduction to Jane Miller's amazing genius. Her intellect, passion and raw edge swoop, swing and jump through this generous collection of poems that work hard at the business of love, truth and the absolute. Despite the frantic, white-knuckled pace, these poems have been distilled into ever more dense detonations. Jane Miller will shock you, and she's not scared to lose the reader at points; but one is left in the end with the tangible sense that these poems respect the reader. Truly, to have this much Jane Miller in one collection is a wonderful value and a genuine treat. She's not just working on the cutting edge of poetry--she IS the edge, and once you get a taste of the power and sheer life force packed into these pages, you'll be a fan for life.

Good textbook with detailed explanation on the matter how to deal with "errors" in analysis. Discussion on "weighted" regression of calibration curve, related to error models, is exellent. I recommend the book to any quantitative analysts.

The Whitney Biennial catalog you have to have
The Whitney Biennial is the kind of exhibition that critics love to hate.My recommendation is to ignore thae critics, see it for yourself and buy the catalog. This is a great book for those who love contemporary art. The essays on the exhibition and on the individual artist are informative and well written. The plates are also great.
