This book is my dream bible
This book is largely a reprint of a dream interpretation manuscript written at the turn of the last century (1800-1900). It draws on some archetypal dream imagery that some feel all people share in our collective unconscious. As old as this information is, it is surprisingly, eerily accurate today. Many times I've had some bizarre dream that I couldn't make sense of, only to look up the imagery in this book and see that it described a situation in my life perfectly. For example, I woke up terrified after having dreamt of being in a huge fire. When I read that fire usually means a burst of energy in the form of huge success in business, I was thrilled. I had just switched careers and, yes, things turned out very well, just like the dream portended. I've had to buy this book for a couple of friends just to get them to stop calling me after every time they had a crazy dream!

Need to be a little smarter than the book
yes this book is outdated. but it doesnt take more than a little creativity to figure out how to relate it to your modern day life. I was able to interprate every one of my dreams and the book was able to explain exactly what it meant. I would recomend it to anyone who has an imagination.

Divines the future from your dreams!
I use this book along with others and also some Jungian theory. I use this one the most. Unlike the other reviewer, I believe this book DOES go with consensus but you have to know how to use it. First of all you have to get the version with the pictures. I've seen the one that is just text and it's badly organized. (Don't know what they were thinking.) To use it, you have to look up each thing you remember from the dream, individually. So far I've used this for myself and others and most people tell me it's been right-on. Keep in mind this was written in the 1800's so the vocabulary and references used are old-fashioned, and he tends toward old biblical platitudes.

Negative Dream Interpretations
I was so disappointed in this book. Every single symbol I looked up was a very negative and pessimistic symbol. Even though he has a lot of symbols, I have found other dream books are much more thorough and in line with what I think my dreams mean. I am sorry I bought this book

A Great Dream Book
This is a great book. It shows dependable information about over 10,000 objects you could see in your dreams, and then a good meaning to what you could be experiencing in the past, present, or future. I reccomend this book to those who believe in this type of spirituality, and whi wishes to give this book a chance to be your guide.

The Fae Girl

INTRIGUING AND INTELLINGENTLY WRITTEN
I just finished reading this book and I am totally fascinated by it. Before reading this book I knew nothing about dreams and what they meant, nor had I ever had any interest in finding out. This book covers in-depth all of the questions, I could ever think about asking. It clearly explains the traditional meanings of over 10,000 dreams. This author really did his research by revealing what the subconscious mind does when it goes to work. The book also explains how our dreams can help us conquer phobias and overcome personal problems. I found all of the information contained in this book very interesting.

...Keep looking!
This book is terrible. Some of the older releases of these books are very racist! I find it interesting that if you dream of a black man or black person (refered to as a negro p.399), that you will have bad luck... (what [junk])!
If you want a reall Dream Dictionary, *HUNT* for "The Dream Book" or "Dream Dictionary" by Evad Aras. This is the best dream dictionary I have ever used in my life...

Incomplete
This ook leaves out several key pieces of data. First of all, many of the dreams I tired to look up are not included in this book; however, oddities such as "zodiac" and "yield" abound. Most of the dream index is either too general or too specified, and much of it is based on common superstitions which are well known. However, it can be helpful in teaching how to interpret your own dreams by the well written introduction.

A Religious Dream Dictionary
As mentioned in the publisher's note, Miller wrote this book in the first decade of the twentieth century. It is based on religion rather than psychology, with attention paid to The Bible and the role dreams played throughout.

The author posits that a dream is a vision of the future, and that any relationship with the past or present is incidental.

From a religious perspective, I question the authority and validity of the author's interpretations.

Scientifically speaking, the work has very little to offer aside from an alternative/historic view (which is not without value).

Now that dream psychology is mainstream, and religious dream interpretation is on the fringe, this book's title is misrepresentative. A more fitting title might be "A Religious Dream Dictionary: 10,000 Dreams Interpreted."

A Nice "Edwardian" Way To Interpret Dreams
While being far from psychologically acceptable (or believable) these days, Miller's "Dictionary of Dreams" does present a glimpse into how our great-grandparents interpreted dreams - it reminded me of Mrs. Beeton's "Book of Household Management" and its codification of Victorian housekeeping! I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys interpreting dreams in a humorous spirit, as well as for those who enjoy authentic examples of popular history.

And, to anyone who has an issue with the dream analyses - lighten up! It's just a book from a century ago - not a Jungian treatise!

Interesting book
It's funny how the politically correct person who gave a negative review is making me want this book even more! It's true what they say--when there is a push to ban a book, it makes the book explode in popularity.

Anyway, one does need to read this book realizing that it was written during the height of the racialist/eugenicist era, when even the President (Woodrow Wilson) fell into that ideological category. However, ninety-nine percent of the book passes the test to be approved as PC in this modern hyper-sensitive era.

Most of the interpretations of the dreams are probably fanciful at best, but this books makes for interesting reading. It gives us stuff to dream about!

Gainsaying the Gestalt
Miller's book is true to its subtitle: "What's in a Dream." He has catalogued (and cross-referenced) in alpabetical order probably about 10,000 things that may crop up in most people's dreams, but not all. Miller draws from Camille Flammariov's (1900) work especially Flammariov's "Unknown" for purpose and framework. The exact nature of where Miller's 10,000 dream interpretations-every single entry-come from is not clear. The assumption is that Miller has been able to tap into a universal reference on symbology with his higher self. Based on a small unrandom sample of dreams from personal experience and friends with follow-up, the accuracy of interpretation approaches the accuracy of prediction of daily astrological guidance in local newspapers. Beyond the possible rival factor of self-fulfilling prophecy, the accuracy depends on a person's point-of-view. The strength of the book is its symbolic database and proposed meanings as interesting points of discussion. For example, Miller's interpretation of dreaming about deer is generally favorable, denoting deep friendships or a quiet life. While killing a deer in your dream is interpreted as being harrassed by your enemies. Farmers and business people who dream of hunting deer should be warned that failure will be forthcoming in their ventures. My bias or tendency is for people to self-interpret symbols using their own local or personal meanings that they attach to objects in their dreams, so Miller's book fell short of my expectations.

Really tells the meanings of my dreams, fun for the family
If your'e looking for a book that tells the truth about your dreams, this isn't the book for you. But,I think it is''really'' fun to read the myths that they put in there and if one of your dreams will give you misfortune or constant luck in the future. So what i'm trying to say is ''This is a really good book and i would definately recommend this book to dream lovers all around the world!!''

Very interesting
I bought this book just on a whim because I had been having some really weird dreams. Some really obvious symbols are left out, but obviously they couldn't have every single thing everyone dreams about in one book. I have found it very useful though. What I do, is after I have a dream and look up the symbol and write the date I dreamt it next to it to look for reocurring symbols. It makes for interesting analysis of dreams.
