Christy, I just found a little thing that totally made me think of you and a certain acquentance of yours, here it is:
If you love something very much, let it go free... If it does not return, it was not ment to be yours. If it does, love it *forever*.
I thought this was a well written, descriptive and good teen romance novel. Robin Jones Gunn demonstrates the confusing feelings that sometime come along with love, while she also shows just how trustworthy God can be at hard times in our lives. This book is great for anyone who can relate to God or just wants to read a good story. With an excellent plot, some twists still appear in Christy's life allowing the reader to realize sometimes life doesn't always go as we planned.
After seeing each other only once in a while, Todd and Christy are now together on a daily basis. Todd has comfirmed his love for Christy, but she's still trying to sort out the pieces in their relationship. Then, when tragedy strikes, Christy realizes that she could loose Todd at any second. Is she willing to trust God with her future - with or without Todd? Will Todd ever propose?
This book was incredibly romantic, wonderfully written and funny. Robin Jones Gunn is an extremely talented author. I would highly recommed reading this, as well as her other books!
Unfortunately, for me personally, there are several examples of answers from 'God' that perpetuate the 'fire and brimstone,' "You're going to burn in Hell forever" God that turned me off to Him years ago. Fundamentalist Christians will love them but I tend to take that kind of statement with a grain of salt and look for the loving message that I know underlies it if it's really from God. I highly recommend this book as something to have handy for a quick pick-me-up since you can open it almost anywhere and find a useful inspiration of some kind. Even the ones I disagree with make me think and that's not all bad. It was worth the price to me.

but feel that Dr. Turansky and Joanne Miller, R.N., B.S.N. have captured a new yet simple,
wise and practical method for training children. All of this in an easy to read book, Good and Angry: Exchanging Frustration for Character in You and Your Children. Good and Angry first helps the parent examine their own attitudes,
and then gives them a few simple tools to effectively raise kind,
considerate, sensitive, and loving children.
I especially enjoyed chapter 7, "They're So Annoying". It was refreshing to
know that other parents struggle with children who "seem oblivious to the
feelings of others, continue to pester, speak without thinking, and are
overly silly by pushing, grabbing, teasing, and joking". This chapter
explains that I can teach my "annoying child" self-control and sensitivity
by raising the awareness level of the annoying behavior, by keeping
character in mind, by praising the child in the process of correction, and
by developing tolerance when necessary. I have begun to use this simple
method, and feel less anxious and sense a strengthening relationship between
myself and my child.
This is not a book you read once and put away to collect dust. It is one
that you need to read over and over again. Good and Angry is a great book
if you want to replace bad patterns of discipline(reacting in anger) with
gentle, wise methods.
Dr. Turansky and Joanne Miller, R.N., B.S.N. have written this book from a
Christian perspective, but it's content is not religiously offensive. The
methods can be used by people of any faith.
It didn't take me long in my parenting career to figure out that most issues with our children are ones that are solvable, once we look internally. What this book in particular helped me to realize was that my reaction to my son's disobedience is so very important. To respond in anger sends the wrong messages. The authors give you practical ways to react to disobedience and they guide you in managing your responses.
There are so many helpful ideas in this book. In a nutshell, I would highly recommend it to any parent.
