Amazing
I recieved this book as a gift. I read it in less than a day. It's absolutlry delightful and one those books one just can put down. It's filled with stories that warm the heart. It also is filled with unique, humorous, and tear jerking stories. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys animals or day-to-day life.

The most entertaining and informative book I have ever read.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about animals or amusing anecdotes from the experiences of a veterinarian. This book opened up the possibility for me to pursue a career as a veterinarian. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. I only wish I could contact the author to thank him for writing this book, and giving me the opportunity to read it.

I read this one nont-stop, 26 hours FLAT. It's THAT good.
I just couldn't stop reading it ! THIS is the book you'll want to read to pass the time in an airport or waiting for someone in a restaurant, and yet you VALUE every book you read, not just some so-and-so story to pass time with but a really good novel with exciting, refreshing, humorous (humor IS the underlined word in this book - my belly ached, my eyes wet reading the book), yet down-to-earth story in which you'll also find sorrow, embarrassment, pride, and joy, all through the life of a humble (yes Mr.Herriot - he IS also a genious (and funny !) story teller)veterinarian. A great, compact, binded pieces of paper this surely is. Oh, and Doc Miller, if you're reading this, in chapter 15 about the nice people - the widow and her daughter, I think you LIED and YOU're the one who bought them the pu...well, any would be readers just have to derive their own conclusion about the story of the pretty and polite 16 years old and her widowed mother in chapter 15, when The Lord decided it's payback time to the nice people. Buy it, borrow it, in any case, read it. It's a great book. You'll have wonderful time reading it. Many people including me did. I still giggle everytime I remember some of his funny stories and look up at the sky everytime I remember the incident with the nice people.

Exquisite book, radiant art to teach Christ's Parables.
I've long wanted something with artwork by James Christensen. His work is magnificent, his art geared to fantasy usually. This book however was given as a present by my sister. I use it for teaching the parables to my Sunday School class, and as one of the few books laying out where others can see it. The book is well-done, and well-laid out. Of course, the pictures draw the eyes and the amount of detail is fascinating to children. The parables are classic stories, no matter what religion you are...like many other religious stories, they teach everyone the same thing. In this day and age, when so many children and adults need basic training in kindness, in charity, in placing your trust in right things (rather the wrong ones such as money)...this is a beautiful way to reteach those lessons. Great art, inspiring text
We received this book for Christmas last year, and I recently bought a copy as a gift for a relative. It makes a nice addition to our coffee table, and we have received many positive comments about the book.

The artwork is what makes the book special. Look at the picture accompanying this book and of other books by the same artist to get an idea of the type of art this book includes.

I've enjoyed Millet's writing in the past, and "Parables" didn't disappoint. He takes a nondenominational approach to the parables of Jesus, offering insight about how they can apply to our lives today. There's no deep theology here -- just useful observations and commentary. We've used the book as the basis for family devotionals, and the children seemed to enjoy it.

In my view, this book would make a fine gift for any Christian family or anyone who likes that style of art.

Great Little Primer for Load Dispatchers
Part of my job with a large midwestern power company is to train load dispatchers. I'm constantly on the lookout for good material. Power System Operations by Miller is one of the best textbooks I've found to train non-degreed system operators. I used the first edition myself when I was a new load dispatcher, and I found it to be a great self-study guide.

One problem with the latest (third) edition, there are no answers provided for the questions at the end of the chapter. This is no problem if the book is used in a classroom as the instructor should be able to figure them out. But for self-study it is absolutely necessary for the publisher to provide the answers to the chapter tests. Also, there are a few typos in the chapter on reactive power that could be very misleading to students who are already struggling.

The book concentrates mainly on transmission but the first four chapters are useful for distribution dispatchers as well. They provide a good foundation for teaching system overview, AC fundamentals and reactive power. The chapters on protective relaying, while still giving a basic overview of the various schemes, are a bit dated because they don't cover some of the latest microprocessor-based relays that have been replacing the electro-mechanical ones over the past several years.

This is not the be-all and end-all for training system operators, but when combined with on-the-job training and other supplementary material it can help establish a solid training program.

Excellent developmental tool for Power System Operators
Power System Operation provides a well structured knowledge base and reference for the new and seasoned power system operator. It will serve as the foundational and theoretical basis for many of the experienced based knowledge that is passed from operator to operator. I would recommend that all power system operators be equipped with this book as must read material.

Ugh
How can anyone find this confusing? This is a pretty simple work, and I find it difficult to believe that anyone can be confused as to what it's about. And why would you need Cliff Notes for this?

In any event, my problem with this play is that its just too simple: not enough meat and the characters aren't all that interesting. Yes, it shows us how narrow-minded the Puritans were. It's also an allegory for McCarthyism, for those of you who don't know. But do we really need this play to point out what it tells us about human nature? I personally find it overly long and overly dull for what it's trying to convey.

interesting
i was required to read this book for an english class, and am glad i did, because it really made one think about how narrow minded the puritans were and how that really brought on the hangings of the so called witches. this is definately a book to read.

my opinion
this is a great piece of art by arthur miller. he catches your attention with the lies and injustices of the 1600's. this is a good book because of it's content. the speech is, as it was in that time. it tells a tale of a little girl who gets caught being "naughty" and blames it on the circumstances of those she doesn't like or has problems with. this book teaches that to lie about something that could have been small makes it much larger and much more complicated to deal with. the girl in this this book is in witchcraft and is caught dancing naked in the woods by her uncle who is the reverend. with her are two other girls, a servant, and a cousin. the town is brought down to a level where every one is accusing every one else for past happeneings. farmowners are accusing neighbors of it so that the land is auctioned off at low prices so that they can increase the quality of their own land. it becomes a big issue when it could have been solved completely with a simple confession. the subject is blown out of proportion and it destryos a lot of lives and families. the truth is finally found after nine-teen people are hanged for the crime of witchcraft. i reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys "a good book".

A book that had a confusing plot summary
I believe that English teachers should make a list of books that teenagers could understand without having to rely on cheat sources. My advice to you would be to choose books that you can understand easily without driving yourself crazy while writting your critical analysis. Death of a Salesman is not one of those books that can be easily understood, in my opinion.

Extraordinary for those who comprehend
For all you who have heard that this play is hard to follow, I would not disagree. Yet despite the difficult comprehension, Miller does an excellent job in relation to the characters' psyche. There is a much deeper meaning to this work. It explores the never ending chain of the importance of family. A must for all whose family is a little distant among each other. Touching, moving, extraordinary.

A poignant, moving work...one of the all time greatest!
I read this play in one evening. At times I found it hard to follow, but I REALLY enjoyed it. Soon after I rented the movie with Dustin Hoffman which solidified the story in my mind and moved me to tears. A very compelling story.

Yeah, I got snookered
I was very surprised when I ordered this book and found out that yes, indeed, it was merely a very tiny portion of what I had expected. I suppose I should have known from the price, but the description (at least at that time) did not make it clear that it wasn't the entire dictionary.

Must have more complete info before ordering...
While this may be a very thorough source for the words it covers, it should be noted in the basic information that this is ONLY 128 pages of a 15,000 page work. The description above is very misleading.

5 stars
itz a dictionary. what more can i say
