Encoding and Decoding
It was my delight in find in one book history, application, meanings and references. I consider this book to be user friendly for the absolute beginner and of interest to the professional florist. It has even provided new insight to classic literature. I consider this book to be of excellent value for its price.

Ultimate quick reference language of herbs and flowers book.
What a dynamite packed book! Filled with a rather thorough history of Victorian flower giving and the rules associated with sending messages in the language of herbs and flowers. A very complete dictionary cross-referenced by both herb and sentiment. This book is a dream for those of use who study the emotions, sentiments, messages, symbolism, origins, folklore, and mythical side of herbs.

Teaches the Concept of Teaching Concepts
If you are looking for an instructional design guide that focuses specifically on teaching concepts, look no further. Teaching Concepts: An Instructional Design Guide is your answer. Used either as a classroom text or as a reference guide, this research-based text is full of examples and useful strategies to assist in the concept design for adults and children. Merrill et al. recommend that the book be used like a recipe in that you follow the instructions precisely the first time, then adjust to your liking.

The layout of the book is the perfect example of concept instructional design. Each step in the process has its own chapter, which makes the book well organized and easy to follow. Each term is thoroughly illustrated and defined. It is supplemented by examples, which compliment the design of the book, and questions, which keep the reader involved. The book is divided into ten chapters providing in-depth outlines of the 10 steps involved in the concept instruction design process. Thankfully, the authors did not forget the all-important formative and summative evaluation components of instructional design. The appendix contains sample concept lessons designed by three of Dr. Merrill's former students. There are also several concept lessons that have been completed and included for reference.

The bottom line: When seeking an instructional design guide for concepts, I would highly recommend this text to instructional designers, instructors, students, and anyone in the instructional design field.

Worthwhile
I give the AVI high marks for breaking free from the grip of inaccurate orthodox teachings about blurred vision being irreversible and how to "correct" it. It's very refreshing to hear people within the profession speaking out. However, I was disappointed that there was no reference made (at least not that I could find) to Dr. Bates, the man who pioneered natural vision improvement over 80 years ago. The AVI gives you the impression that they're onto something new, when that's certainly not the case.

I'm still not convinced of the effictiveness of many of the eye "exercises" and "booster" techniques to help speed the progress. I've been undergoing natural vision improvement for quite some time and I tried a strict regimen of exercises, including many shown in this book. I can honestly state that I don't know whether they've made any difference in my progress, although I still do a few from time to time for good measure just in case they are doing something positive. I've achieved a lot of gains (one can immediately tell) when I've least expected them, when I wasn't consciously doing anything but using my eyes naturally for day to day activities. My progress seems to be on its own time frame (just as if I were to break a bone, it will heal on its own time).

Any book that gets the message out about natural vision improvement is worthwhile in my view. This is one of four books I have on the subject and, of the four, Relearning to See is the best and most comprehensive.

Fantastic!
I've read this book all the way through several years ago and am finally putting it to use. I've procrastinated in doing the eye exercises and I'm finally about to start them now. My vision is terrible and after reading this book I was stunned to find out how much we all don't know about how to improve our vision.

This book tells you how to exercise your eyes like any other part of your body that needs fitness or toning up. If you don't help tone it up it all goes downhill from there.

I started wearing glasses in 4th grade and know I probably wouldn't even be wearing glasses if I knew then what I knew now. If it was corrected at the beginning. My vision would probably be perfect again. Now I have a lazy eye, very bad vision, and I'm about to go to the doctor about an infection on my eye that could very well be cataracts.

The scary thing is a lot of eye doctors aren't taught the things in this book, thereby don't often realize themselves that one could improve one's vision through eye exercises and progressive undercorrection--a means of making the vision stronger by prescribing a lense or contact of 20 less than needed. Glasses and contacts have become a crutch and we all know what happens when you lean on something too much. So I'd advise most people to read this book since just about all of us nowadays where glasses or sometime of vision crutch.

The Best Book ever on Eye Care!
This is the best book ever on how to improve your eyesight. The book is concise and easy to read. "Talking about an eye opener!" If you are serious about getting rid of your glasses, this book is a must! I recently had an eye exam after only two weeks of doing the recommended eye exercises. The results were; the right eye from -3.00 D to -2.00 D and the left eye from -3.25 D to -2.50 D. "I will be for ever grateful to the authors of this Book!".
