This colorful book is a backward counting book using roses asthe items to be counted. As the roses are taken by the children,their names rhyme with the number of roses left. A good book for kindergarten and 1st grade use. Contains good color illustrations and will be a good book for the teachers to use.

The text is catchy; the illustrations are bright and clear. This is a high-energy counting book that also teaches the concept of subtraction. A bonus is that it shows the numbers as red dots (roses) also, a concept that is recommended by Glenn Doman's "Teach Your Baby Math" book.

Babies are ready for this book from very early on. Highly recommended as part of baby's first library. And my friend's 6-year-old still enjoys reading it.

No matter how many silly mistakes that noodlehead Epaminondas makes, his mother knows he means well, and instead of becoming angry, she seems to find her little boy all the more lovable. While this endearing story is sure to bring smiles and laughter, it may also bring a tear or two.

I recently read "The Wise Woman and Her Secret" after talking to our school children about the art of "wondering". We are often told new information by others, however, it is more important that we gain new knowledge by way of our own wondering. Eve Merriam helps us to gain an appreciation for this art by telling this beautiful story. Those who rush through life don't get the chance to wonder. Those who slow down and pick up pennies, or seashells find lots to wonder about and even more to learn. The old woman and the young girl have this gift. One knows that it is a gift and not really a secret, while the other simply enjoys herself and the world around her. Every child and parent should read this story. It will help to pave the way towards a successful life-long learning experience for both.

What a neat way to illustrate the concept of basic addition! Our kindergarten teacher read this book to the class and it provided an example to the children that adding numbers together can be done in a variety of ways: from simple to higher level thinking.

This book is so wonderful. I am 15 years old and I still read poems out of this book when I am having a bad day.If you do order this book witch I suggest you do read the poem about 5 little monsters. This poem always makes me smile! This book is great for childern in Kindergarrden because it is easy reading and the language is very detailed. This poems relate to children too!

Mommies At Work is a fabulous book that has become a favorite bedtime read for my two and a half year old daughter. As a working mom, it's great to find a book that so positively depicts mommies doing all kinds of different jobs. Any child with a mom who works outside the home will find something to relate to in this book because it focuses on the important things that moms do to show their love for their kids. Mommies At Work communicates to a child that no matter what kind of job a mom does, her favorite thing is"..coming home to you." This little story reminds me of a similar yet more sentimental take on the subject of working moms - When Mama Comes Home Tonight. Mommies At Work is a nice book that lets kids know that their working mom loves them a lot! It is refreshing that this story is remarkably free of any particular political agenda regarding working mothers which is as it should be for the benefit of the children who read it.

Benjamin Franklin, although, was once our President didn't just become well known from his presidency. He initially started out as a young man who had a shakey intellectual start but ended up being one of the many important and inovative men of our time. His numerous inventions aided people to live their lives with a little more ease and safety, which inturn earned him the title of Pennsylvania's first citizen. The is a great book to start the younger generation learning about their fellow americans who lived once upon a time and promoted our knowledge and use of the many fields and inventions we study and use today.

I checked this book out of the library, brought it home and it sat for a day until my 3.5 year boy found "the story about the train". He loves to "read" it to me! We have lots of books around our home, but the combination of the train, the colors, and the neat things pictured is captivating to he and my 2 yr old girl. The large size fills up their laps and they have a great time with this book. I am here to buy it!

I bought this box at christmas. One night while waiting for my 5 year old to get ready for bed I picked up this book. I finished the first chapter before he came in then I couldn't wait to finish reading the book. However I couldn't finish it that night because my son wanted me to read him picture books. So the next day, I started the second chapter. As it turned out even though it was a very short story it took me days to read it and as I took my time on reading, I reflected on what the author was writing. I felt that as each day was passing on the character lives, that they became people that I felt close to. When Jenna talked to Mary about time with her father it may my heart ache. Don't we all put off time now and then and forget about how fast our children grow? The book made me laugh, cry and reflect. So much, that now the most important thing in my life is my child. Work can wait my child can not. My child and I now wear angel pin pals so that we will never be apart from each other. A MUST READ BOOK.

This book was very emotional, surprising and sad at the end. It keeps you in suspense because the family that lives with the old lady notices strange things happening in the house. For example, the family finds an open Bible with tearstains on the pages and the man hears music in the house, which comes from the Christmas box. I really liked this book. My favorite part in the story was the end. When you read it you will understand why the end is the best part. The strange thing about this book is that it is true. The man, who wrote the book, heard the music from the box and discovered the secret of the old lady that his family lives with. I would recommend this book to people who believe in angels and who like to read dramatic stories.
