Eerily Whimsical
I just love Michael Sowa's work! It is so hard to find in the US, but I finally got a hold of a copy of Sowa's Ark. My only complaint is that it is too short! 71 Pages is just not enough! His work is eerily whimsical, and I just love wondering about the thought that must go into each piece. The quote from Fortean Times in on the front inside cover: "Buy This book and upgrade your imagination", is perfect, his work opens your mind and makes you smile! I wish there were more books with his works more readily available to the US, but if you can get your hands on this one, grab it!

A fabulous artist!
What can one say about Michael Sowa? His painting is superb nad his sense of humor and fun is also "to die for." He is a master, and I just love him......If you ever see his greeting cards for sale, you'll know what I mean. But to have the paintings in a book is even better.

Wildly amusing imagery
Michael Sowa's book was introduced to me as a must to read after someone saw my own work, and I would say the same to you if you are thinking of buying this book.

If you like funny, amuzing and often surreal imagery then you'll love Sowas work. Some of the pictures are quite profound and make you think beyond what you see. They have a dream like quality in many cases. Some pleasant and others ... well... it's hard to describe...... best discover for yourself...

Esterhazy: The Rabbit Prince
Published in Hardcover by Creative Education (01 September, 2000)
Authors: Irene Dische, Hans Magnus Enzensberger, and Michael Sowa
Amazon base price: $16.95

A warm story of Germany and rabbits
This is the most charming book I have come across in years, and I can't wait to read the original in German (available now on amazon.de for about $30.) The combination of master storytelling by Dische and Enzensberger and Sowa's richly surreal art is mesmerizing. The story is light, simple, and very rewarding. You will return again and again to this story of a rabbit traveling through modern Germany. It brings back memories of my time in both East and West Germany, around the wall. When I read it, I smile and feel better.

Great story to for adults and kids!
I was so excited to read this book because I had always thought about the concept of the plot(being born big and growing smaller). The story was so imaginative. It is especially good for adults and teens to read because of the message: to keep one's imagination and to not let one's age inhibit one's actions. Fun to read to kids!

Knowledge Representation: Logical, Philosophical, and Computational Foundations

Good, but suffers from unnecessary complexity.
I thought the first three chapters did an excellent job of covering advances in knowledge representation. However chapter four is marred by an attempt to present what appears to be virtually every syntax used relating to processes. Somewhere in this gulf of complexity I think he has some basic concepts, but they are hard to reach. It's equivalent to reading a book on algorithms in which the author presents the algorithms in C, Cobol, Fortran, Basic, SAS, etc. Why not just present the concepts within the context of a MINIMUM of syntax? Still the book is worth reading and has good appendixes.
